Sorry to hear that. If Nexus is where you're happier, then I wish you the best.
I can't really speak to a lot of that, but in general, I hope the switch over to less "rawr big villain" plots and more "fun, less immediate-reaction stuff happens around town" will help folks who want to take this at their own pace. Big part of it is just courtesy, something I've been trying hard at myself.
@Deme: Agreed on the poking. I check the thread often, and I even miss stuff sometimes. But if you're getting poked a lot, then you likely should make a habit of double-checking the thread. Collaboration is a two-way street, after all. I'm absolutely not directing that at anypony, just stating my own thoughts on the matter.

Yeah. I'm just going to mention this again in case anybody missed it.
After this, unless there's some reason everybody wants to have another big villain plot, there aren't going to be any more.
I'm going to bring up what my friend Deme said. Big Bad villains don't work, because unlike in the Grimdark RP, everypony creates their characters with different expectations in mind. Given that big villain plots pretty much have to include everypony, this simply does not work.
Now, we can still have all encompassing plots. There's no real reason to refuse to have hearthwarming or Hearts and Hooves day.* Everypony can do those at their own pace, so they work.
We can also still have villains. There are plenty of valid ways to have villains in this RP.
It's just when we combine the two that they don't work.
*Or, slightly more accurately, there's no reason to prevent everypony from enjoying those just because you personally don't like them. I have no intention of participating in Hearts and Hooves day, but I'm not going to ask the entire RP to not have it happen because of that.

Foxglove, presumably. Of the two non-levitation spells she's used on-camera, one of them related to rapid and manipulated plant growth... So it's safe to assume all her spells are plant-or-animal related, or things (like her heating spell) that come in handy in her line of work as a nature-keeper. Given how rarely she uses magic, I basically allow myself carte-blanche in terms of picking what spells she does use along those themes.

Smoothie was just trying to convince Grills to do otherwise because right now, he's not looking too good.
She really will try and spin this so that Grills ended up defeating Simmer, and she really doesn't believe the real story will be spread around. Whether that's the case or not remains to be seen.

Grills was going to make sure he is involved in Simmer's defeat no matter what Smoothie. He'll go on with the lie but he'll feel guilty about it.
He'll probably confess the truth to one of his friends and force them into secrecy. A burning secrecy that burns them in their burning insides when they realize he will do something stupid. The same emotion he feels about his mother and fillyfriend. 'Cause he's a hypocrite.

This depends entirely how he'll appear after the defeat of Simmer. I recall you having varying plans on what he'd be like. If you get that narrowed down to a couple of options, it'd be easier to know what's going to happen.
Is he going to remember everything? Is he going to be the same age as normal? Will he still want to be "Gallant Garion" or is he going to want to settle down now?

See, I told myself I'd only make one pony and keep it at that. Any more and it'd be too much to handle. But he's just a little foal, and he'd be an interesting character to explore, and I had so much fun with foal shenanigans before, and...and...

I think Simmer is going to be pretty much finished off before Sandy can do anything.
However, it won't interfere with any ongoing plots. He won't be done for good until any plots concerning him (Particularly Gear fighting her clone, and the Foxglove/Purple/Snickers plot) are finished off.

Say, since most of my characters have had only minor things to do in this plot, instead of Sunny handling Simmer, could I use an alternative I thought of? It's still going to be the same basic idea, but with a less silly pony.

Like I said, it's the same basic idea. However, the main difference is that it's Sweetheart doing it, and she has a somewhat different attitude - still caring, but less silly.

Then I'm glad I planned for it. I think Sandy'll react interestingly to finding out a bunch of civvies did his job and risked life and limb while he was napping. And all because he stopped to help somepony else. Sure, it's more complicated than that, but that's what he'll see, and it'll be fun to play out.
