I'm surprised at you people. The magic and skill system here is clearly something other than 3.5.

In fact... *peers closely* I do believe DLB has caught the Skyrims.

Still, I laugh so freaking hard when the dresser crashed through the wall. Kagra definitely learned something from her orcish parents.

Keep up that great work Bright.

I'm not, this story so far hasn't brought-up not once*:
  • Breaking of the fourth wall.
  • Cheap shots at die rolls.
  • Jokes about skill/feat investment.
  • Other parodied mechanics usually accompanying most OOTS-style comics(at least in the beginning)
*-not saying that these aren't enjoyable now and then.
And yet it's approaching it's 10th strip without one hint of any game system while still being very amusing... maybe this is another charm to the comic...
That's how I interpret it, anyway.

So I'll ask: -Bright, is this something that just happened to be so, or are you really avoiding these things deliberately, have you taken-on the challenge of leaving an OOTS-style comic free of mechanics?

I find that basing a comic around a specific system burns itself out very quickly. There are only so many jokes you can make, right? Sooner or later the story is going to have to stand up on its own anyway, so I don't really tie myself down to a system when I write. Even if I write in the confines of a game-world, I try not to worry about mechanics.

It wasn't really deliberate, though, since I didn't sit down and say "How can I avoid talking about DnD?" But I naturally don't do that sort of thing anyway, so in the end I may as well have.

Also, wow. Li-barbarians work out.

*Note to self: if I ever get into a fight with a libarian, try to run them over with a car first. ...Granted, thats my first move for any combat...*

You just shouldn't get into a fight with a librarian after preparing to destroy a book.

Subscribed instantly. As a note, the first two links don't seem to load when I click them, but the others do.

Gotta love this... the humor is really solid. Just wish I could see the first two comics.

How often do you update?

Ah, the dreaded "cutaway to something different to extend a cliffhanger for another week" technique. The most deadly weapon in the webcomic writer's arsenal.

Still, new characters! Hopefully recurring ones. Can't wait to see where this goes.

@Sam: This is a once weekly comic, more or less.

Thanks! I update once a week, on the same day if I can help it. It's mostly to give me time to actually make new comics.

I don't myself have any issues with the first two comic links, but I re-uploaded them just in case.

I have a sudden feeling that those paladins, or knights, or whatever, are very incompetent.
Probably just Sir Zann, Eric seems like the suffering sidekick type.
Also, looks like they need sewing done, interesting touch.

I continue to LOVE the visual gags!

The guy's just sitting there, conducting an interview with someone trapped under heavy shards of his own shop.

Confirmed! Kagra's an orc librarian.
Why is she obsessed with the book even though it's evil.
P.S- Is it possible for Paladin to fell in love with an Orc?

If he's lonely,demented, and/or adventure-ish enough, yes.
If you think about it - It's also counts if the guy playing the paladin is like that, <_<.

Well, dose she know? Do orcs have cautionary tales against that sort of thing? Do they need them? I mean, aside from the obvious outlier they don't seem to veiw books that well in general, so they proabaly don't have warnings against specific books.

..Hell, they might get people they don't like to read accursed tomes, in a hillariously cruel sort of fratboy hazing.

I mean the guy who brought it call it evil. The shopkeeper call it evil. If they were saying it, I would stay away from the book.
P.S- I even wrote a story about a human paladin who married an orc (Good aligned) and had a child with her (Well, Before this comic and 6 months ago). Well, the orcs were kinda in greyscale morality in my story (Some good, some evil, and some neutral)

Actually, I really like her facial expressions throughout. Very well drawn.

I guess part of it would be an unwillingness for to accept what she can't do, due to being both and Orc and a Libarian, but even so, I'm kinda on the bigot's side on this one. Some things are only to be poked at a safe distance.

Also a fan of the expressions. Though the arms are kinda stiff.
