The only time that Pavick has been upset with Eltain is when he had claimed that he was the only one who cared about other people's suffering. Otherwise he's just been trying to state his opinions. Pavick has not yelled once in the conversation.

Pavick's opinions differ, and Eltain's arguments have not convinced him otherwise (and probably will not). That is not to say that Pavick doesn't like Eltain or isn't happy that he is back in the group. He is happy to see Eltain. This is primarily about a difference of opinion not a personal vendetta.

Eltain never claimed he was the only one who cared about peoples' suffering, he just thought he was the only one who actually cared about the Winter Fey. Not entirely a crazy notion; Eltain knows full well that even if he isn't the enemy, he's still The Enemy. He's gotten used to the notion that most people outside of the Winter Lands think everyone from there is evil/a patsy. (Plus, other than Eltain, and Toveliss falling that way because of circumstances, every single winter eladrin we've seen has been an evil jerkass. Eltain's kind of turned into Drizzt.)

He expects people to hate winter eladrin period. Perhaps unfair of him to assume the party does, but the party has been fighting the war against the Winter Court and their allies for a year, so he assumes they also think of Winter Fey as The Enemy. He's very much terrified that they think he's untrustworthy/the enemy too, he's just not saying it out loud.

Ah, sorry, I had assumed Pavick was yelling at the 'how dare you' point. At least that's how I was reading it in my head, as Pavick being angry and yelling at Eltain.

Well, it's not so much the difference of opinion for Eltain as what got said that has Eltain down. He's fine if Pavick disagrees, it's more that rather than 'It's an interesting argument, Eltain, but I disagree and here's why', Pavick got angry at him and took him to task on something he hadn't meant as an insult, so he feels bad. If that makes sense?

I'm not taking it personally OOC, I should emphasize, I'm just trying to explain why Eltain is reacting IC the way he is since there seemed to be some confusion/frustration.

I think there was a lot of misunderstanding on both sides of this. I'm not personally upset by this either, I guess more confused than anything. But I agree we should probably just put it all behind us and move on with tracking down Lu.

(And not that Pavick ever said it, but Eltain's support of the plan was one of the reasons Pavick agreed to go with it. )

Yeah, that's why I was trying to explain Eltain's reactions. Sorry. Oh, I'm not ignoring your PM, I'm just insanely tired tonight(I fell asleep after writing that earlier thread reply, derp) and want to get to it when I'm not getting all narcoleptic.

But yeah I think somewhere along the line things just kind of completely fell into WTF zone. I say we make it a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment and never speak of this again. XD;

Heh, I think you missed the joke. This is what DMs do, they tease the PCs about horrible impending deaths no matter what they do. I would tell y'all about how you're all going to die if you decided to sit around playing Gin Rummy.

This was more for the amusing mental images of, say, Aramil getting killed & rolling a 20 on the table. I mean honestly, can you see Aramil dying and his reaction be: "Act mortified and embarrassed, apologizing profusely to everyone for dying in so inconvenient a matter."? Or Eltain, who would want a more dramatic death, dealing with "Die slowly, thinking each sentence is your last. Make the scene get progressively more awkward as you run out of things to say."

See? Silliness.

Actually he'd go for the one where you confess to having secretly loved a party member all along, although without the die rolling, since there actually is a party member he's secretly loved all along. (Especially if he dies in early epic where it'll be impossible to get him raised because nobody will be able to afford it.)

Ash is actually going to swing by Lu's shop and see if he can find any charts or records. Specifically looking for locations and activations of portals to the Nine Hells, Elemental Chaos and Feywild. Also if he can find any items that might help us get around or assist in any rituals. Pavick might need to give him a "shopping list" for those ritual items.

Eltain will probably go with the others to the shop to see if he can help with the research/portal investigation. He can't actually get a message to anyone on his own, so I guess he doesn't have anyone to get in contact with. Meh, I dunno.

If Eltain has a particular message he wants sent, Pavick can do another Sending for him.

Also, I wasn't thinking about it at the time, but Pavick would accept assistance with any of his rolls for any of the arcana checks for the rituals. I figure both Ash and Eltain should have good modifiers since it sounds like they'll be with him. I believe each arcana check of 18 or higher would give Pavick a +2 to his roll and each failure would be a -1. I don't think Eltain can fail to assist if he tries and Ash is very unlikely to fail.

Eh, it's nothing important. Eltain would want to contact Toveliss to update him on his lack of success, but it's not really vital and he wouldn't feel comfortable asking Pavick to send it; and inform the actual head of the Order of the Azure Star about the drow thing, but Veldrin can probably find someone to do that anyway, so it doesn't matter.

And yeah, Eltain will loan his Arcana modifier to things. I'm not even going to dignify rolling to assist, he can't roll below a 26 even on a 1. Just assume he does.

Jon, tell me what you want me to roll for other stuff.

Hi all, sorry that the game has been moving ridiculously slowly over the last couple of weeks. IC post with the results of the analyze portal ritual, investigating Lu's place and all that other fun stuff will go up later tonight once I'm no longer on my phone.

Man...this game is really good luck for people and relationships. Only a matter of time until we hear from Nai and Mando that they've found their twue wuvs

On a side note, I just finished a long IC post but submitted it while the message boards were down for maintenance, and lost the entire thing, so I'll be re-writing it as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning. It's been one of those nights...

But yes, congrats Toric, and apologies to everyone else that the game has slowed down (largely my fault).

Didn't we just discuss upthread that me finding anyone is basically impossible? *misanthropy* It's pretty much guaranteed that I'll never even find a girl/boyfriend, and getting engaged even if I did would be pointless.

One of these days we'll teach you to copy posts before submitting them, or write them in a separate window.

And I'll never forgive you for the slowness I didn't even notice, at least not for the next five seconds.

Eltain only advocates stealing when it's necessary. At which point he'll probably help distract the guards/inhabitants. Or just do it himself via teleportation if they didn't have the sense to take precautions against pesky teleporting Half-Eladrin Cavalier|Warlocks doing just that.
