Oh sure. Eltain FINALLY gets a crit after two and a half years, and it's on something where it doesn't matter. CURSE YOU DICE GODS.
Screw it, I'm rolling the crit dice anyway. (4d6)[12].
Also the breakdown of that is two At-Wills, two Encounters and a Daily, for five successes.

...That's cute, if you have an evil party, which we don't, but I'm talking about actual effectiveness here. A point in which Warlocks are not known for their awesomeness. And Hexblades aren't especially powerful. By the way, if you ever try to use it on Eltain, the fallout will not be pretty. I do not recommend trying it.
And Paladin dailies have way, way better flavor if you want to get into a fluff thing.

Since Pavick's flirting got him nowhere, he'll be ready with a shield spell. Go ahead and apply it if it will make the difference between hit and miss.

Don't worry, later on Eltain will be happy to help Pavick work on his pickup lines. Thrull too. Pavick will be rolling in girls in no time.

Heh. It's kind of weird. I've always considered Pavick to be straight, but mostly uninterested in romance (at least for now). If he really met someone it would mean taking them home to meet his parents, something he really doesn't want to do. They embarrass him enough already.
But so far in this campaign he's hit on two men that I can remember and no women. There was the male githyanki captain who was so drunk he thought Pavick was a woman that Pavick flirted with for an evening and this bone devil.

Heh, Eltain at least dodges the 'taking him/her home to meet the parents' thing nicely. His mother's an evil b*tch who doesn't care about him and his father is currently decorating the Prince of Frost's living room. Which is embarrassing in its own way, I suppose.
Eltain's only hit on women, but he's actually bi and secretly in love with Zyrr. Although he's bad at the secret part, so Zyrr is probably the only person who doesn't know.

You do realize that Eltain is the one PC who's actually gotten laid, yes?

Ooh, look at Aramil! Going toe-to-toe with a Pit Fiend and fighting off the blows! Nice! Also, It's a sad day when a Bone Devil can't manage to hit a wizard in melee.
Also, the Dragon's bite against Shep is going to be successful, since John Barleycorn can't be dismissed to give Shep the bonus to defenses (just his allies).
So, if anyone has an immediate action that'll either give Shep a bonus to defenses, or slide the dragon more than 3 squares, now would be the time to use them. Else this Dragon will try & swallow Shep. (Of course, if he doesn't bite Shep, he'll breathe fire on all of you. So that's an option to weigh...)
Oh, and could I get a saving throw from Lucan vs. sliding into lava?
I did, yes. He should have been slid away from the party, since that was my note for if he was already in the lava.
And I'm still sad that Eltain's first ever crit came when it was meaningless. :( I'd been looking forward to it, and then it came where it didn't matter. Diiiice. *shakes fist*
(Amusingly though, to decide between 2 and 4, I rolled a d20 for odds 2 evens 4 and that one came up nat20, heh.)

You never specified for the dragon. But the problem is that any direction you slide him moves him into hazardous terrain (which he rolled a saving throw to resist about 5 posts up), so he immediately ends his movement and falls prone (which he spent a move action to stand up from).
Actually, it works out well that the Dragon is still there. The Ice devil will be throwing a new lever this round, and odds are it won't create something that the dragon can resist. Speaking of that. let's see which lever: (1d8)[8]
I'll wait a couple more hours in case Shep has something to save himself, then I'll finish up the IC post
However, I just have one question--4th is full of semantics, and I want to know how you rule this. If Fersavictorix ends his turn where he is, he'll be dazed. While dazed, you cannot continue to grab a creature. Swallowing Shep means he's still grabbed, from what I've seen. So...does that mean Shep can just strut out of his gullet?

Well, first I'll need to see if Shep actually gets swallowed.
(1d20+23)[41] vs. Reflex (includes bonus from Shep being grabbed)
If he does, unfortunately being swallowed isn't a "grabbed" condition. This power is based off of the Purple Worm in the Monster Vault (adjusted for the dragon's level):
Quote:
Hit: The target is swallowed (escape DC 27). While swallowed, the target does not occupy a square and has neither line of sight nor line of effect to anything except the dragon and other creatures swallowed by the dragon; in addition, nothing has line of sight or line of effect to the target except other creatures swallowed by the dragon. If the target attacks the dragon using a close or an area attack, that attack targets all other creatures swallowed by the dragon. While swallowed, the target takes 45 fire and acid damage at the end of its turn. When the effect ends or the dragon drops to 0 hit points, the target appears in an unoccupied square of its choice adjacent to the dragon.
Maybe we should change the dragon's name to Derpy Scales.

Okay, that makes more sense. From the IC post, it looked like swallowing Shep had only increased the escape check for the grab to 30. In that case, yeah, Shep's swallowed but good.
Shep made hopping out of that dragon look easy! Still, out of the two possible exits, that one was definitely preferable! Also, that's a disapointing miss on the attack. Everyone making an MBA could have put a dent in that dragon's hide! Unfortunately, even if you did hit him, he wouldn't take the damage again. Mainly because of weird ruling about what "entering" means and forced movement (typically to keep people from sliding creatures into and out of zones). However, he will take it when he starts his turn.
Oh, could I get a saving throw vs. the ongoing fire damage?
Also, for the record, I mean it. Shep's arch-rival is Fate. So he has a bone to pick with either the Raven Queen, Ioun, or the figurative concept of Fate.

that'd be the Raven Queen. And seeing how y'all's dice rolling has gone, you may get to speak with her on the subject very soon.

Oh yeah, Aramil is fighting off the blows like a champ while Pavick is a helpless little wizard who is just lucky the bone devil can't hit the broad side of a barn. Okay, so you're absolutely right about the situation, but still you could have made Pavick sound a little less wimpy.
I think Pavick's going to finally be trying something big this round though. Hopefully it'll go off well. Give me a little bit to get the mechanics figured out and type it all up and I'll post in the IC thread.

No, not the dragon's next attack! That's going to be against the bone devil.
And since I can already tell that that's a miss with the mirage arcana on the bone devil (I got a nat 1) here's the illusionist's gloves reroll I mentioned [roll=1d20+23[/roll]
So, after playing this game for two years, I had completely forgotten that there actually is a tavern called the Lucky Gnome in Fallcrest. I was reading some article where Fallcrest was involved, and it mentioned the Lucky Gnome, and I double-taked. "Pavick's in this adventure?!" Naturally he wasn't, but this leads me to my current train of thought, where Pavick needs to open a tavern called "The Real Lucky Gnome," or "The Gnome That's Luckier Than the One Across the Street."
Yeah, when I wrote up Pavick's background I ran across that. Part of his background was as he was saving up to be apprenticed he worked tables at a local tavern, but as I recall the Lucky Gnome was a pretty bad dive so I used the other one as his former employer.
But if Pavick really decided to do that, he'd probably just open up his bar call it the One True Lucky Gnome and then late one night go to the old Lucky Gnome and create a redirecting portal in that bar's doorway that would send people into his bar. It would run them out of business so he could be the one true lucky gnome.
