Don't worry about Ash. The fire is dying. As referenced when he called for his imp ally to find Lu. As soon as we decide on something, this encounter will end, and Ash will revert to normal. His mind will be slightly rattled. But coherent and clever still. Not wild deals or rash decisions once the "steroids" wear off.
Right now Eltain is horribly confused by Asheroth and wondering if he should stab him just in case. :p
...honestly *I'm* still confused and massively disturbed.
Eltain will comment IC later today if I'm ever able to get enough sleep after being kept up half the night by a neurotic dog apparently unable to cope with the fact that oh gods, its humans have been gone one whole day. This is why I'm a cat person. The cats are fine and do not need constant comfort and monitoring to ensure they don't freak out and destroy something. ;p I also fell down the stairs, lucky only a couple of steps, but one of my toes is now in massive pain and swollen. And it's been seven hours! Whee!
On the bright side, you are not having my day. Suddenly yours seems much better, doesn't it?
This is all such a terrible idea, and I told you so, in advance.
Ooh, ooh, wait. I thought of the worst idea ever that's so bad that we'll be forced to have good ones from now on because no bad one will ever live up:
Someone challenges Baalzebul to single combat in the arena.
Don't worry, guys, we can't lose as long as our challenger has a length of chain and a slave Leia outfit.

Blast! If only someone had thought to bring holy salt!
No, no, we just need the slave Leia outfit on someone and then after we throw everything into chaos that guy just chokes him with the chain and he dies. There's probably one in the hold with the veils.
That or we cast Slime To Pizza and lock him in the back of his limo and leave him to eat himself.

Pfft, we all know Eltain would look best in it, plus he totally knows where on the Spelljammer it is because he found it earlier. Obviously.
Although given his STR mod I don't think he's going to be choking anyone with anything, unless Jon allows for choking someone with the power of how awesome I am like what I usually stab people with. (Well, I suppose in Eltain's case it's actually the power of how awesome Corellon is, but Eltain's pretty awesome too.)

Yes. But Eltain would still look better in the outfit.

Oh yeah, there's no doubt Eltain would look better than Pavick in the costume. Imagine this, but only as a midget and you'd come pretty close to what Pavick would look like.

Yes, Eltain definitely wins. Well he's half-eladrin and currently not sporting a beard, so given that he's got way more DEX than STR, he's probably one of those skinny androgynous types and would be mostly confusing in a slave Leia outfit. 'That is a really flat-chested... Er wait is that... Uh... Oh gods what.' Eltain's probably at least as skinny as Jon is, and Jon is made entirely of bones and cactus spines. ...And I'm not sure anyone else here even knows what Jon looks like so that's not really a useful comparison.

Oh, now I lose a level after you posted that image that I won't try to describe for fear of losing another few nights sleep. Suffice it to say it was supposed to represent Shep's new attire. If I lose a level for the man in a leia outfit, every NPC should have lost about a tier's worth of levels for your pic.
(And just for the record, Pavick's grin would be just as big as the guy in my pic.)
Don't worry, Eltain's about to be level 1 if Jon's brain works anything like mine and gets the same mental image I did five minutes after comparing him to Eltain's level of skinny.
Also, ever since Hab described the tuxedo in terms of rich powerful older women picking out your clothes, I've been picturing the Baba Yaga as Norma Desmond. Although it really ought to be tails for that, tuxedos are for waiters.

Huh. I was just getting ready to type up a big dinner intro update when Aramil posted. Now things are interesting... I'll wait til Pavick has a chance to respond before I post.
Shamefully enough, I've never seen the actual movie. But I had quite a fondness for the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical version back in the 90s, so I always think of Glenn Close: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akEkP...eature=related (For some reason, that clip starts in the middle of the song. On the other hand, it's actually a clip of the scene I was thinking of, and actually has Glenn Close instead of one of the other Normas)
Yeah let me type stuff up, I just now woke up. Stupid bloody sinuses. Stupid being sick.

And I think I'm going to wait until other members of the party have a chance to post, because Aramil has just put Pavick into an uncertain position and he'd probably wait to see how the others react before doing anything anyway.
My first inclination is to open up the portal for anyone who wishes to go. Though right now that seems like it is very likely to split the party across great distances. That seems like a really bad idea.
This is such an incredibly bad idea and I told you so.
Also while Eltain will be there, I do not plan to actually utilize him unless it becomes necessary, given that he finds the mere idea of this intolerable but I can't think of anywhere useful to stash him and he probably wouldn't even be allowed to be stashed elsewhere. Assume he's staring at the wall and biting his lip until it bleeds. (Also this course of action actually manages to offend me IRL, but that's a personal religious hangup. Well, there's a reason the DDI submission guidelines specifically ban any kind of deal with the devil adventures. The hilarious thing is I'm not even the usual right wing Christian D&D is Satan type.)

I love the mental image of all the devils sitting around waiting patiently as the party frantically converses amongst itself.
If y'all do decide to split, I'll most likely run it like I've always run splits, with fewer, longer posts divided into subsections. Which can be a little awkward, but we've shown we can do it.
Talking is after all a free action. Especially in this party, where we'll have ten minutes' worth of conversation in about six seconds.

I hope you realize we don't mean to be offending you personally. I apologize if that is the case. I guess you and I just have some very different ideas about the nature of the game.
Maybe we should just take off for Celestia and work this situation from that side. I have faith that Hzurr will make it an interesting ride no matter which direction we go. I also can't believe that whatever answers Shep seeks won't be found right here and now.

If Baalzebul agrees to Shep and Ash's conditions, then Eltain can stay on the 'Jammer. I would hate for him to be privy to some of the things that may happen during dinner.
Also, I seriously doubt there will be negotiations with Baalzebul. Even his own advisors don't want this to happen. We may be able to turn that to our advantage. The mere fact that Ash is a warlock of Mephistopheles is going to cheese him off, and he seems to be very interested in The Shepherd. We can use all those things to bend the conversation our way.
I say split the party. Especially if we might come to fisticuffs during the second course. Ash is going into this dinner with the plan of not fighting unless he is directly attacked. It may sound unfriendly, but he will allow a character to get himself beat up if that character says or does something to provoke Baalzebul. Just sayin' . Better to split the party, than to possibly provoke to fury an archduke of Hell.
Dar, I don't think we can take off just yet. Even though Eltain has confidence in Zyrr's ability to get out of his current predicament, most likely, if we step through a portal to Celestia without him, we may not see Zyrr for a very long time. We can send him messages, and tell him where we are, but his ability to meet up with us will be severely hindered when, in the event that we do go to Celestia, Baalzebul will brand us fugitives, blow up the 'Jammer and send a search and destroy team after us. Not having a ship to escape on will make it very hard for Zyrr to escape, no matter how good his disguises are. Charming a devil in to going against the orders of his superiors tends to be a tough prospect.
Though Ash, as a character, would appreciate the backup that others would give, he really would see it as a negative if this dinner turned hostile. More information can be garnered through a "civil" meeting, I say.
Hmm...I think I'll wait to hear the opinion of DSCrankshaw and/or Toric before I post (though I'm guessing Toric will fall on the dinner side as not to lose track of Zyrr).
I hope you realize we don't mean to be offending you personally. I apologize if that is the case. I guess you and I just have some very different ideas about the nature of the game.

Of course I realize that. *hug* Sorry, I don't mean to be all 'this game is terrible and you're terrible people' or however it came across. It's nothing to do with the nature of the game, just that for personal reasons this particular course of action is a little uncomfortable. I was just trying to note why Eltain wasn't going to be all active and making smalltalk during things. XD; Don't worry about it.
Absolutely do not change your plans because of it. I'm fine with it happening, I know that my views are odd and not shared by most, it's just something I personally do not want to take active part in because of my own beliefs. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew I wasn't being all 'Bah I didn't get my way Eltain is going to sulk in the corner'.
Hence Eltain deciding to come, but do his best to keep his mouth shut. It works out IC too, since Eltain being Chaotic rather than Lawful Good actually works out worse than LG would, heh. If he were lawful he'd at least understand and appreciate the whole hierarchy and contract thing devils love doing, but he doesn't and finds even *that* distasteful, let alone the evil.

Actually if we left right now I'd probably roll an Acrobatics check with Zyrr to reach the ground level of the arena and reach the portal. But I'm partial to staying because it lets me muck about with Zyrr and could give Shep some long-overdue plot focus.
