Now everyone, for the first time, I say:
Roll Initiative!
(Killing is not required but this is a good idea to keep things orderly. Talking is a free action, so as such perfectly fine to let the combat turn into a discussion, just for if people take magical actions or try to kill the Half Orc in question.)

Also is it odd that I first thought
This concerning the Bard battle going on with 2 countersongs on the field

Actually, this is what my hubby and I texted to Deadenstein immediately after I used Countersong:

Awww YEAH!
It's a Bard duel;
old school.
Sup fool?
What do you take me for?
A tool? I tell ya right now
On this Playground,
I get CRUEL!

Yo chump, don't be mistakin' it,
I'm REAL on the mic, but you be fakin' it.

Like a cannon I'ma BLAST OFF,
so turn ya' head and cough,
'cause it's about to get physical.
Yo,
My rhymes are lyrical.
My magic is empirical.
When I say "jump"
the whole house gets hysterical!

You may drum,
and you may hum,
and that sure is fun.

...

But son...
...

I'm cocked and loaded like a tommy gun!

We're dorks.

DEADENSTEIN'S CHARACTER SHEET:
Sorry. Dead's been struggling with uploading the sheet, so here goes.

Torik the Savage Bard and his stuff.

If anyone else wants me to do this to their character sheet, let me know, but in order to upload it to the website, you'll need your own server space. Therefore, please download Dropbox or some analog thereof.

Ok, so wait. Are we in initiative? I'm pretty sure half the group never rolled initiative, so I'm guessing we're back in dialog mode. Is that right DM?

I'll wait my turn if I'm supposed to. We haven't seen Kalegkos in a few days, and Deadenstein almost never goes to the OoC board, so maybe they didn't pick up on the request.

Also, quick question. Are we supposed to be doing our dice roles in the IC Thread or the OoC Thread? I'm not quite sure what the standard is, I just assumed (since I had the first skill check in the game) and we all sort of followed suit, plus there seems to be an actual Dice Roll Sub-Forum in the OoC Forum.

Sorry about the confusion, I was just excited to be a part of the group. Last time mine was the sole character yet to meet the group and plot, I ended up splitting the party oops.

Don't be sorry Dead! We're glad to have you getting ready to join the group. Plus it's good to see you in the OoC. I'm just trying to learn the rules as I go with the PbP. We were in Initiative to deal with the confusion, not necessarily to deal with battle, so there was no clear line to draw regarding the end of init, since usually (in my groups at least) init ends after the last enemy gets coups de grâce.

But a little off subject, where is K? Our Paladin hasn't said much in days.

*Groan* Paladin joke. But that's what Kalegkos gets for not posting... bad Paladin jokes.

Anyway....

Hey DM, Torik just asked about the Golden Veil. I suppose that those of us who are from the Veil are best equipped to answer him, but what do we know apart from the the fact that it is named after the enormous golden walls that mark the borders of the empire, that it has ambitions for world conquest, and that its upper class is comprised mainly of Incarnum users?

Do we know the name of the ruler?

Or perhaps the General of the Veil's armies?

How long ago did the kingdom decide to expand to become an empire?

What are it's publicized intentions for imperial expansion?

Is it taking the "Roman" approach of claiming to bring civilization to the world, or is it just blatantly an evil empire bent on world domination?

What are it's primary deities, or does it tend to be areligious?

Have political uprisings like the one I'm attempting happened before?

If so, how did they work out?

If not, why? (Is Bel just a delusional anarchist? Is the majority of the empire content with the expansion plan? Are the risks just too great, and everyone is afraid?)

I suppose some, or most of this will have to be answered via PM, but I thought I'd get those questions out there. After all, I'm not sure how to answer Torik right now.

In Order:
Not Many Know the Rulers name, only his Title:
The Encrusted One. Based on the many Ceremonial and Magical Gems that help concentrate his power. More can be learned with Know History/Nobility/Psionics

That is Know History/Nobility

2 in 1: It states a rhetoric of Enlightening other races and yes, civilizing the world, with occasional corrupt individuals sowing political finnagling this way and that to acquire power from new territories.

Primary deities are more for the Common Folk:
Beings like Pelor, Elhonna, standard Pantheon stuff.
Occasionally the Nobles hold Heironeous to a degree of Honor, and as more a symbol than a god. This is why Aasimar get good political treatment, they are seen as incarnations of Heironeous's values. Those who stray from this path are often bemoaned and criticized to the most extreme.

Things like this occasionally spark in other territories though not enough/long enough to be a real threat or long standing chance of promise.
Mostly caused by those who felt opressed by this new police force and ideology, and people who wish to keep their culture safe and preserved against a faceless and diverse Imperical force (a la Skyrim's Stormcloaks)
Others are content and don't mind, and there is suspicion about these odd and faintly magical walls that mark the growth of the empire. So it's a little bit of everything for rebellions.
They are either mostly cultural preservationists, wackos, the occasional quiet conspiracy theorist and investigator, or people who plain oppose the seemingly needless expansion which started about 2 centuries ago and no one really knows why.

Hey DM if Torik's back story says he was kicked out of his tribe. Then does that mean Torik is from outside of the veil? Is Torik missing his green-pass? Am I being "watched" by the government?

Long ago in a distant land, I Torik, the drum beating Master of Music, unleashed an unspeakable evil named Justin Bieber. But a foolish fact of life called aging wielding it's puberty sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, where Justin remains whiny and an embarrassment to the male gender! Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is the Bieber!

Yeah dude, I'll count that as outside of the veil for sake of ease and not to retcon things. However, this gives me an element worth thinking on.

And I'm glad your back Kalekgos we missed you in the IC!
