Not parts, whole computers. Lenovo has weekly specials on their stuff, and my grampa used to work for Dell (which means he gets a discount on Lenovo stuff).

I'm looking at the Y570 laptop, since my budget only goes up to around $750, and I'd like to have something mobile.
Here's the specs on the one I'm looking at:
Processor: 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB
Memory: 8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz
Display: 15.6" HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200 rpm
This seem like it'd run the game? Maybe not at the highest settings...
There is a pretty good chance you can run it at the highest settings as that is a very nice processor, which is the big thing when it comes to SC2. The graphics card is great for a laptop, which definitely doesn't hurt.

Anything with an i7 processor is really good. I think I'm actually going to start shopping for my laptop. I may not have enough by $100 or so, but I can have a better idea of what I want.
Made it to the second elimination round, CLoud Kingdom LE. Was doing fairly wel until my opponent dropped on multiple bases simo. I wasn't keeping up with his macro, so he'd have been able to steamroll me soon, but the game went 20 minutes, and I very much had him on his heels most of that time.
I'll post the replay when I get a chance.
Just had a fun ZvZ that ended in a big base trade. Funny thing was that I had just barely botched up a ZvZ against the same opponent (I forgot to hold position my queens, so banelings got into my drone line). Take a look if you want.
Is there still the weekly thing? Or is this officially a post-your-replay thread? (I'm not complaining. These are some sweet plays to watch.)
I was under the impression noone went to them, so I stopped posting that such occurs. I figured it was a waste of time in the summer months from what was going on.
*edit* Just watch the Thorship replay. I feel like if he had that thor + medivac for the push he would have won, or at least made it to your hatch.
Only criticizing I have for you play Kyu is you had an overlord over his nat so you could see only a couple of marines had even tried to make it down to the bunker but you had so many drones trying to kill it forever. All you had to do was reposition the spine crawler between where the marines would come from and the bunker and they would have no chance to make it. So you could have just waited for the lings. Especially since you had scouted him and knew he had gas with a rax in the base so really couldn't afford to have another rax. Noone macha rax and gets gas.
That said I wouldn't have noticed and would have done the same dang thing :D

Barcraft this sunday. NASL, we've got a bunch of Canadians in the lineup I hear, so I fully expect our usual venue to be packed. I'ma go early this go around, probably assist with setup, stake out some good seats, have pub breakfast before the rush hits.
Think I can bunker up and wall off fast enough?

Zergs are doing really well right now. What changed in the meta-game? Queen buff, timings, creep spread, infestor control, shoot for end-game with broods?
The Queen buff has thrown off Terran early pressure timings, meaning hellion harass and marine pushes are less threatening than normal. Less early threat means more drones, faster upgrades, and faster tech.
More queens in play means more creep spread and faster creep spread. You can cover the map in about 5 minutes if unchecked. More scouting means less threat.
The Infestor/Brood Lord army has been around a while. I don't think that's had any effect upon Zerg's win rate. In fact, I think the metagame is shifting away from such an imobile army. I'm wanting to see some more tricks like Ultra/Hydra.
Ya I had to run late unfortunately so I got on about 2 hours after your post, and ditto. Noone on.
Is there a better day for everyone? So maybe we can get more on a different time and actual revitalize this. Possibly just wait for HotS to draw people back.

Nothing really amazing to report at Barcraft. All the Zerg were going with Broodlord + Infestor, which Protoss were all countering with Stalkers and Psi-Storm. There were a few good back and forth matches, there was one match where just about the entire map was mined out (any harass from either side would have seriously tipped that entire battle), I actually saw Carriers used (WTF?), and not one Terran player to be seen.
It was a very chill sort of Barcraft though.

Hey everyone. Just got the game. (three days ago)
I had already played starcraft 1 a few times, years ago. no real experience, i used to lose the basic AI :P
Anyway, i watched some HuskyStarcraft games (cause they're funny), and i tried a few times playing vs the computer.
I started with Terrans (sounded easy, marines/maruders, stim, siege tanks) but then switched to Protoss because Warp gates are SO AWESOME (Both in terms of utility and sheer AWESOMENESS)
Anyway, i did my placement games and ended up in Silver league. (won 2/5).
Now i've played some games, i won 5/10 of them more or less.
(Two of them might be considered cheating though, since i just got three Void Rays as soon as i could and then went and killed the enemy Zerg base :P). *
Anyway, i think i'm pretty much ok. My usual strategy is four-gate, or maybe Colossi. Haven't used Templars yet, i'll try them.
AND after this introduction, what i'm actually asking is some general tips.
What exactly do i hotkey?
What are good strategies against Terran, Protoss and Zerg?
One thing i tried once (and actually worked) was send a worker at a random spot, completely away from me and the enemy, build a base and only use it for mining. Is that too big of a risk? not many people usually check every single place every single time..
* Actually i tried that three times and once it didn't work because of multiple queens and Spore crawler =(

Unless you are hacking, you aren't cheating. Any strategy you use to win is valid.
A void ray rush is considered somewhat cheesy though. If the other guy scouts it, he can defend it easy enough.

Hotkey anything you want to find quickly or often.
General hotkey setups run something like this:
1 - main army
2, 3, and 4 - specialists, like ghosts, infestors, or high templar. Also, drops
5 - Nexi, Command Centers, or Hatcheries
6 - Barracks or Gateways
7 - Factories or Robo Facilities
8 - Starport or Stargates
My personal hotkey setup looks like this:
1 - main army
2 - infestors or mutaliks
3 - harassment group, usually mutas or speedlings
4 - detection
5 - hatcheries
8 - third hatch queen
9 - second hatch queen
0 - main hatch queens

For protoss? I can't speak for how things work in other matchups, but most toss like to do a forge first expand into either six gate, five gate colossi, or some sort of air play against Zerg. Stupid six gates are a pain to shut down.

You are in the low leagues, where they don't check things often. However, in the upper leagues, the good players check for hidden expansions. Zerg will have overlords hovering at every base location, terrans will spend a scan to check likely spots, and toss will have observers on patrol.
That said, if you need gas and have way too many minerals, a hidden base can be a good way to try to convert some of those minerals to gas.
Also, if you want to get better, a good way to do so is to watch Day9's Newbie Tuesday series of videos. Regardless of the race he focuses on on a particular day, he points out concepts that are applicable across all races.
I play random, so my hotkey set up looks like:
1, 2, 3- army groups
4- non-hatchery, non-warpgate production buildings (robo bay, factory, barracks, etc.). You can tab through the building types by pressing tab.
5- command centers, nexus, hatcheries
6, 7, 8- queens
Also, i just had my first actual late-game macro, 200-supply-cap victory!!
(the other times it was usually me being able to repel an early push and the opponent surrendering, or me attacking early with a proxy pylon)
Not sure you would like to see the replay, both me and the other guy are noobs, but out of curiosity how do you guys post a replay? i understand you can only send a FILE containing the replay?

it also takes a lot to make them, and they never struck me as particularly good in any part of a game..

You need to rethink your assessment, or I will have to kill you with mass queens.
Queens are certainly not a super stand-out unit like the Infestor, but you can do crazy things if you have enough queens. Just check out this Funday Monday, back when Queens had short range.

Queens are a force multiplier at pretty much every stage of the game. They control space, spread creep, shoot up, tank, heal, and make more larva. They make a great mineral dump late game and don't use larvae to produce. They also have the range of a marine.
