I need a little clarification on the situation...

Are the two guards leaving the barracks the only guards in sight? Is it likely they are moving to the gates where they will relieve two other guards who are already standing there?

Is the door to the north of our current position open to the exterior? Is it guarded?

Are there archers patrolling the battlements?

Here are the answers:

The guards leaving the barracks are the only two in sight. They will replace the two on the wall walkways and all double as archers. So while the guard changes, no one is on t he battlements.

The courtyard has only two guards at the same time, each walking the wall.

The door north of you is only accessible from the courtyard. Sorry if this confused you.
