I would say the spirit of the power is that they hear the challenge, and therefore the "power" of the Call is put into the sound of his voice, or roar, and that it would reach them.
I'd certainly have no problem with that; I just meant to clarify the RAW functioning of the power.

Right, and usually with things that have substance, i.e. wizard powers, etc., I would totally agree with you on that. The problem I have with 4e rules, sometimes, is that they don't leave room for the fluff of powers, like needing line of effect for burst. We have lots of fun discussions in my home game about the "spirit" of the powers, as opposed to the "letter" of the law
By strict RAW, I'd agree with Surrealistik on this one, though I could see the floorboards above us being broken in places, potentially providing LoE and concealment.
4e often produces situations where willful suspense of disbelief is required to maintain (some) balance. This looks like one of them.

I don't mind playing by ear. I think it helps creativity. We'll say the sound carries up through. I don't think he'll need much convincing to have a little lizard snack.
Anyway, is closing a set of barn doors a minor action or two minor actions (or a different type of action entirely)? I plan to close the west barn doors, but don't want to overspend/underspend my actions.
Edit: Actually, from the description, it sounds like the refugees are about to make a run for it. Does it seem like they'll take long to get ready (specifically so long that the creatures may arrive)? No need for a definite answer, just need a feeling for what the situation looks like.
Edit2: Looks like I'll wait on closing the door. More pressing matters at hand.

@Argius: Barases started his Song of Serendipity already so you can either use a minor action to use a surge+1d6 or he can do that for you on his turn. Or just keep bleeding.

Whoo Hoo!! I was hoping for that!! Unfortunately, with such a big battlefield, Bat hasn't been that much help in this battle
Hopefully this will help that
Be careful what you wish for. You may soon have more attention that you want.
"Hello? Oh, yes, I'll tell him." Hey Waffle, I just got off the phone With Batrazaar, and he says bring it on, and that he doesn't mind being surrounded by enemies.

I got two hours of sleep last night, read that, and cracked up waaaaay more than I should have. Just thought I'd let you know!

Yes, do that. Grai's gonna crowdsurf like there's no tomorrow (well, for some involved, at least).
Oh, and by the way, just for future knowledge of powers that target all creatures, Batrazaar is completely fine with taking one for the team if he is surrounded my baddies and needs a burst or blast thrown on him. In fact he will probably yell it out to you. As long as, ya know, he isn't 10 HP's away from dying or anything
Waffle, I've noticed Batrazaar has a universal +1 shield AC to allies on account of Devout Protector Expertise (assuming he's using a shield). I'm not sure if anyone else has a shield, but since Argius doesn't, I've added the bonus to his character sheet for easy access.

So what is Belman's order in the initiative? I assume Grai can't share his space, and she probably doesn't want to provoke someone who can grab her, so it's preferable if we get him to move before she acts.
Would specifically like the girl to shift to FF14 or 15, and George Costanza to shift to GG15.
We got this, guys. The spirit of Sam Jackson is with us and no sharks nearby to stop him.
That said, this is pretty much a luckbased slaughterhouse, since the enemies pretty much ignore everything we do to prevent attacks and have an extreme terrain advantage (like randomly dropping from the ceiling).
@Waffle: Please be sure to mark the infected that is attacked by Malikar.
