He just responded and sends his condolences, but he will be unable to rejoin us. Life and such. I will be inviting another straggler I have from another game shortly, but let's continue. I'll keep Barases going for now.
Actually, I posted IC before he responded so I was just keeping his storyline open-ended. When my other player responds we'll determine how Barases makes his exit.
So, I don't mean to be the jerk new guy who hasn't even posted yet , but are we getting a new person? I hope that doesn't come off too rigid, I am just pretty excited to play in this game!!!
I a going to go ahead and roll Ini, and waffle can put me where ever he wants when combat starts. Also, I didn't include the +2 since I am not there at all.
Hello, all, I believe I'm a straggler Waffle mentioned earlier.
My character is a dwarven warlock, Argius. In terms of mechanics, he's a charger (no, not a feycharger). For roleplaying, he's a "say slightly less than necessary" type of character, primarily because I'm better at reacting than acting as a player.
I've read over the OOC, and am still making my way through the IC. Whenever there's a proper narrative entry point, I'm fine stepping in.
While I'm waiting, should I post some more character details or background? I'm not sure how much conversation goes on "off-screen," so I figured I'd ask.

Hi there, welcome to the game! Here are your waffles and softdrink.
Looking at your character... you are very similar to my character, who is also charge-based (mine being a Slayer, though). You might want to think about removing the Horned Helm, I already had to remove most items giving me damage bonuses to charges to avoid being completely overpowered.
Edit2: Where are my manners?
*accepts the soda, but abstains from the waffles lest the DM accuse him of eating relatives*
Thank you. Happy to join, and I hope to be of some use.

Yeah, I saw that you were using a charger as well, and the modifications you made to equipment early on. Argius is actually from the Thunderspire game I was playing with Waffle, and I hadn't noticed him doing an unusual amount of damage in combat. Is ~15.5 damage per hit too strong?
Edit: I must have made an error somewhere. Looks like it's closer to 20.5 damage. If that's going to cause problems, I don't mind switching the helmet out for something else. I like big numbers, but not at the cost of fun for others.

Hmm, ~20 damage seems about on Grai's level, who does about 22-24 damage on average (depending on stance and whether it's a charge or not). She used to be at 30+ average with a Vanguard weapon and Horned Helm and that's before her encounter powers she can stack onto her normal attacks (and, well, you can see the result of that in the first fight).
I'm sorry if I came off as bossy or something, just wanted to sort out potential issues before you enter the game.
Other than that, Grai welcomes you to Team Burst Damage of the DPR union.
I'd say a good rule of thumb is that if you're two shotting equal level standard enemies solo, with your normal, unassisted DPR (damage per round) output, you're probably doing too much damage; 30+ damage comes pretty close to that at level 5 (same level non-brutes will have ~58-68 HP).
On the flipside, your DPR tends not to scale at the same rate mob HP does, so what may be 'problematic' now as defined above probably won't be in a couple of levels. Granted, encounter powers and feat combos may pick up the slack of your at-will scaling, and allow your effective DPR to keep pace (or even improve).
Amortize the difference between your normal DPR and your DPR for a given encounter power/resource over 5 rounds to determine its impact on your effective DPR.
@Ridai
Oh, not at all. Your suggestion struck me as a simple, polite suggestion based on previous experience. Nothing offensive about it.
I think Argius maxes out at 39 damage on a crit (max damage on crit die) with a curse active (2d5+11[weapon/items]+1d6[curse]+1d6[helm]+1d6[crit]). I guess the big difference is I can't bring myself to trade the pact hammer for a vanguard weapon.
In addition, most of Argius' daily/encounter powers are focused on control and creating lose/lose situations for enemies. Chains of Levistus+Eldritch Strike, though...

Hey there Sierim! Welcome aboard! Your character looks really interesting - I haven't actually seen a melee warlock before, and I'm curious to see how it works!
As for my own init roll, I'll go ahead and get that out of the way too.
While we're waiting I guess I could give a little more detail about my playstyle. I like to perform actions that are tactical in combat, and believable in RP. In addition, I enjoy letting others draw their own conclusions about what my character is thinking, so I avoid posting thoughts or feelings and stick to what is observable (facial expressions, gestures, etc.).
Regarding this game so far, I've noticed there's a lot of extensive RP in the IC thread. Considering my hesistance to describe internal happenings, I'll likely focus on conversation (that's generally how I develop my character's history: making up answers on the spot ). Would it be better for me to ask questions of individuals, or leave them open-ended for anyone to answer? I have a habit of latching onto a conversation once it starts (my responses are almost always open-ended), but don't want to hold up a game by doing so if others want to move on.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Is the avatar I used in the Thunderspire campaign available? If not, I can recreate it
Edit: Here it is.
Edit2: Oh, didn't see you'd already gotten it. That one is fine. I was going to make this one a square, but forgot to open the menu in token tools on my first attempt

Oh geeze, I'm not sure what's up with the topics not showing that new posts have been added! Surrealist mentioned it to me so I'll be on the lookout from now on - I haven't seen that issue before now.
