I'm sorry, Frankie! I'll make it up to you, I swear.
I believe Drew has started his marathon journey as of yesterday, so I'll be easing things along with a bit of light autopiloting for Sigurd. Update on its way.
Yep, I'm on Day 2 of Los Viajes now. Turns out my sister is now officially a lama, as in the Tibetan Buddhist kind, as in the Dalai Lama. We saw her today for the first time in 4 years after her cloistered retreat to become such. She is totally awesome and my my idol.
Have I mentioned I love her? I missed me some sister.

And I thought my sister was a bit of an eccentric for choosing the music program at university...
Are there any other 'spirituality-oriented' people like the two of you in your family? I find it interesting, because mine was never particularly religious.
Not certain why someone would WANT to be one of those, but hey... to each his own.

Don't tell me you're afraid of a flame war... We're all tolerant, open-minded people, not YouTube commenters.
No, it's purely a selfish consideration. Discussion of "spirituality" gets my goat. You guys have plenty of media through which you can discuss it; I'd just rather you didn't discuss it here, in the way of the game.
Which I suspect is in part the point of the forum rules. See Frankie's post above.
No, the pieces of paper are marked with the patients' names instead. You don't recognise them, but they mostly seem like the names of common people.

If not, is it possible to guess the disease from the symptoms described?
Pieter recognises the listed symptoms of the bloody flux, although the patient shown appears to have a very bad case. The rest are not members of the limited group of common/mild/well-known diseases he is familiar with.
Well, it's certainly better to be a buddhist than a furry.
SOMEONE has never read my sig....

An OOC note for anyone who's confused by Lord Verloren's response there (I imagine the history buffs won't be): along with the rest of the Old World, he hasn't the slightest inkling of the germ theory of disease. People think that diseases are the result of pestilential miasmas, imbalanced humours or the judgement of the gods... the idea that you could administer a disease in the form of a poison is pretty alarming, and smells of Chaos.

While I poke as much gentle fun at furries as anyone: your kink is not my kink, but your kink is okay.
.i. stop that.

Just a note about the whole 'how can you poison someone with a disease' bit. In Our Times, Jews and later 'witches' were blamed (falsely, obviously) for causing plagues and disease by poisoning wells.
So the idea that infections could be caused by malicious intent is not at all alien to our setting.
I do like Mils' combination horror and total exhaustion at the idea. This is the last thing his little village needs.

Well, surely people know that eating certain things (like rotten meat) will result in disease. And biological warfare goes back to ancient times. Throwing decaying bodies with catapults was a siege tactic used in the Middle Ages.
Not arguing with Lord Verloren's beliefs, but there must be at least a few who know or suspect that disease clings to things, as opposed to drifting in the air.

These were mostly regarded as being related to the smell, in the same way that bags of fragrance could prevent one from catching the Black Death(it does not).
I'd also like to point out that the decaying bodies thing was pretty uncommon. Only example I can think of from the top of my head is the Mongols. Which isn't to say that it didn't happen more than that, of course, but military history is not my speciality.
EDIT: Aha! Wiki only cites three medieval examples, one of which is the Mongol/Tartar one I knew of, the other being the Hundred Years War example I vaguely remembered.
Of course, it might be more common than that- like I say, military history isn't my thing. At least not for the high and later periods.

Well, so long as you wonder why someone would want to be a llama, you're not entirely lost.
*pats Chris on the back*
A: Drawing is my job. I'm not as much into it as most of the people who I work for.
B: Even amongst furries, Llama's aren't too common. Usually it's wolves, dogs and foxes.
C: Even working as a furry artist doesn't mean I understand the appeal of it as much as the die-hard fans. I for one don't really want to be a dog, or an anthro-dog... or even an anime-type catgirl. Maybe an elf or tiefling. I do love me some elves and tieflings.

Absolutely - and on the fantasy side, this world is not a stranger to biological warfare (although I guess it doesn't help that the main perpetrators of such shenanigans are thought to be a myth...).
It's the mechanism that I'm trying to show Mils doesn't understand here. Disease is a mysterious and deadly force, nowhere near as well-understood as chemical poisons: the idea of someone directing it is frightening, unusual, and fraught with Chaotic connotations (jolly green ones). That's all I'm trying to bring across.

At least these chaps (well, except Sigurd) know better. The hordes of chittering ratmen exist, and want to kill-kill you. For fun and profit.
Sorry for the hold-up, everyone - I just want to give Drew a chance to respond here if at all possible. I'm going to Cambridge tomorrow; if after I get back he still hasn't had a chance to make a post on his trek, I'll autopilot away.
@Gabe: The short (and rules-clean, for Pip) answer to your question is that we are the only two in our extended family who chose this kind of career, and our parents are somewhat astonished.
@Brentonero: I like to use 7rl.
