In late September, 2013, an ineffable creature appeared in the center of london. Hundreds of people surrounded it, trying to catch a glipse of the being.
A cry went across the world. This cry was not that of an animal, nor the thoughts of a mind.
It was simply the existance of a being that a mind can not comprehend.
It was what humans years later will later call Arceus.
On that day the cry, warped the minds and of most the people and animals in the world. We don't know if it was the beings intention to do this but it was the effect.
The monsters that were created that day are known as pokemon. They hold huge amounts of energy within them. And can destroy things with but a whim.
Some governments remained, but only in the largest of countries. They tried to fight this monsters with bullets and newly developed powers. But the Pokemon were too powerful.
In the end the Pokemon fought back, and the result was catastrophic. The world was torn apart. Continents moved and formed new shapes, weather became nearly completely stable, deserts became drier than ever as it no longer rained, marshes flooded nearly every week as it rained nearly each day.
In the last few years civilisation has started to reform. Their are now three settlements on the known continent. You reside in one of them, a small town in the southernmost area of the landmass. Its in a small marshy area where the roots of mangroves can be seen sticking out of the soft ground.
Your journeys shall begin in Little Root Town.
THE BIG 16
Spoiler
1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)? Pokemon Tabletop Adventure 2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)? Slightly Homebrew Setting, based off standard Pokemon Cannon 3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many? 3-4 (Maybe 5) 4. What's the gaming medium (OOTS, chat, e-mail etc.)? These forums. 5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)? Level 1 6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with? Your character starts with one weapon, 300 Poke of gear, and four items that could've come from your home (Example: memento, torch, some books, or a tent) 7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes? All classes from the game are allowed. You may also use the wild child homebrew class. 8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species? You are human. 9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points? Uses the point buy as mentioned in the Players guide. 10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so? No alignment system. 11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it? Uses the cross classing rules from the Players Guide. 12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them? Players can roll their own dice with the dice roller. 13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules. Not all characters will start with Pokemon roll 1d2 with the Dice Roller. If you get a one, you don't start with a pokemon (Don't worry you'll probably get one soon in the game). If you get a 2 then lucky you, you start with a pokemon.
Here is a list of pokemon that you can start with (If you want a pokemon that isn’t on this list then ask and I’ll probably allow it):
Spoiler
Treecko
Torchic
Mudkip
Poochyena
Wurmple
Tailow
Wingull
Ralts
Nincada
Skitty
Aron
Trapinch
Cacnea
Corphish
Gastly
Geodude
Zubat
Tentacool
After that roll 1d35 to determine the pokemon's nature. And 1d12 to determine its level. You may select its ability.
14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)? I'd like a backstory. It doesn't need to be too in depth though. Note: The world has moved around so your character can be from any country. 15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above? Roleplaying, combat, etc. 16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will I only have access to the core rules and the wild child sourcebook so those are the only material you can use.

Would it be possible to get a Torchic that evolves to fire/psychic? Either way, it's my favorite. I should have my guy up soon, if not tomorrow. (1d2)[1]
Edit: awesome.... hmmmmm ralts or torchic? gah I want them both lol

I've found it easiest to just type it all out once. Then you have it here for all to see, easily editable. Also, you guys suck, with your starters...
Also as well, where in Pokemon canon does this take place? I wanna be a Birch- will I be a descendant, or an ancestor, of the one in the game? I'm guessing ancestor.

So we are just posting all of our stats on this forum rather than linking to another site?

That will be..... Difficult... But not entirely impossible...

Sinker:
Sinker means the Pokemon cannot swim, or move in water. For every round of an encounter the Pokemon is in water that is deep enough for them to stand submerged in, or is submerged in they lose 25% of their max HP. If the Pokemon is lowered to -100% HP, make a Deaths savings roll as usual. If a Pokemon gains a Surface or Underwater capability, they lose their Sinker Capability.
Sprouter:
A Pokemon with the Sprouter capability can rapidly influence the growth of plants and flora around them. Over 5 seconds, a Sprouter can grow a plant 1 meter taller or wider than it currently was. Through the use of Sprouter, the Pokemon can also make plants grow up to 125% of the normal size they would become naturally. For a Pokemon to use their Sprouter ability for 10 seconds, they must sacrifice 1 HP, in place of a Move.
Threaded
If a Pokemon has the Threaded Capability they may replace their turn’s Shift with a Threaded Shift. A Threaded Shift is when a Pokemon targets an object and shoots a strong, thin line of silk, or extends a vine from themselves, and then quickly retracts that silk, or vine, pulling itself towards the object if the Pokemon is lighter than the object or pulling the object towards the Pokemon if it is lighter then it is. The line of silk, or vine, may be up to 10 meters long. If you target another Pokemon or person with a Threaded Shift, the Accuracy Check is 6. You may still use a Move on the same turn you perform a Threaded Shift.
Inflatable:
A Pokemon with the capability Inflatable can expand its size up to 125% of its normal size. While Inflated, a Pokemon does not change its weight. To hit an Inflated Pokemon, you must roll -3 during Accuracy Check. While Inflated, a Pokemon become Blocking Terrain, you may not target through an Inflated Pokemon.

Description:
Spoiler
Josh is rather young being only seventeen, he stands at 5’9” and is rather thin for his age. His hair is long and curly and a dark blonde in colour, but has no fringe. He’s is slightly too thin as he doesn’t eat as much as he should. He wears a T-shirt and blue jeans. The shirt is completely black except the the words written in the centre with a font similar of that to a blue neon sign, it says “I’ll be nicer if you’ll be smarter”.
He is often seen with a cheeky smile on his face but sometimes it disappears completely and he seems completely apathetic.
Personality:
Spoiler
He is generally a nice and friendly guy who likes to joke around with his snarky sense of humour. He also often makes silly jokes that make no sense whatsoever. But if he doesn’t like you then he will regularly taunt your personal traits with little provaction.
He is shy and actually hates being in large groups preferring to have a small amount of good friends.
He has little to no social skills.
Every now and then he seems to lose his friendly persona and become apathetic but he generally will soon return to normal.
He rarely gets angry but it can be easy triggered if you hit his berserk button.
Background:
Spoiler
On the night of Arceus decent from the golden gates Josh and his family were watching the new for once. This was the strangest thing to ever happen. Then words screeched into all their minds "Here me now, humans. Your time has ended. You have chosen your fate". The sounds which followed were more horrific than anything Joshua could imagine.
Everyone around him screamed in pain as their flesh warped, twisted, and hardened.
Josh ran.
After a year he began to study genetics in depth. He hoped to find a cure for Arceus's transmutation. As such he often wanders on the edge of the wilderness and studies the most docile of pokemon from afar.

You could be a Psychic Type Ace. One of their class features allows you to change the type of a pokemon to yours. Of course that would assume you are focusing on psychic types.

This ally will remain under the Ranger's guidance until it is hit by an attack, severely distracted, or has helped the Ranger in a significant manner once, such as by making an attack. You do not get a list of any capabilities or moves you cannot deduce yourself, and it cannot be taken from the area you found it in or it will run away. You may only give the Helpful title to one Pokemon at a time.
Companion
At-Will
Any Restrained Will Pokemon
Give the Pokemon the Companion title. You may only have one Companion at a time. If you give a new Pokemon the Companion title, you free the other Pokemon and replace it with your new Companion. To make the wild a Companion you must sacrifice half an hour upon giving it the Companion title to bond with the wild. This process starts the Companion at Loyalty 2 at least and obedient towards the Ranger, regardless of circumstances before Befriending. The Companion gains experience and levels exactly like a Captured Pokemon, as well as counting as Owned for the purposes of levels and features, but cannot participate in official battles or contests (doing so is fraud). The Pokemon cannot be returned to a poke ball and it costs 150 credits to heal at a Pokemon center. Companions are considered Helpful, but act in combat as if they were owned.

Spoiler
Jericho is a man worthy of legend. He stands 6'2, wears a long brown trenchcoat, and mirrored aviator shades. Jericho's hair is dark, dark red, and he wears it short and spiked. He is somewhat athletic, though not really muscular and beefy. Jericho's actually very ruggedly good looking- he has a rugged beard and mustache growing, and though he never shaves, it never seems to grow past a certain point.
Personality
Spoiler
Jericho is a nice guy all around. He tries to help strangers he meets, and when he was drafted to fight against the Pokemon, he deserted, because he couldn't bare to fight against such innocent creatures. But he isn't naive- he can't stand being lied to, and when people are bad, he doesn't let them get away with it. Jericho likes to tell jokes, but they are terribly lame, usually a groaner.
Background
Spoiler
Jericho came from Texas- he once owned a horse- but it transformed into a Ponyta overnight. Still, he loved it, but when he was drafted, he had to leave it behind. He took up arms, and was sent to still shifting lands- but when he got to his destination, he abandoned his unit, and ran away- he found a small Torchic along the way, and made friends with quickly. Lucky for him, cause a pack of Combusken, and a Blaziken, all came by, and chatted with the Torchic- who left with the group. Jericho followed them, and they slaughtered his entire unit. Jericho had no idea what to do, but the Pokemon turned to him, and just left.
Jericho wondered around for a while, and eventually ended up in Little Root, where he was given a place to stay and rest up. That was a year ago- he's finally ready to go out and explore the new lands, and hopefully meet some new Pokemon. He's spent time chatting with several of the local ones, but none have wanted to leave their home areas.
How many years do we start after the Cry of Arceus

How many years do we start after the Cry of Arceus
I'm thinking the year will be 2019 so six years after the incident. But I might have to re-think this as Jericho is 19 that would imply he was 13 or 14 when the military drafted him.

I can add a few years. Making him 23 makes it so he was still young when he was drafted, but not that young. Though that would make him a bit old... it's your call, I don't mind either way.
Stupid question, but i need to for my sheet, the roll i did for my pokemons level, is that what level he will start off at? Also, what should his starting loyalty be?

I can make it less years after Arceus's cry, one question though how will 23 be "a bit old"?

Yes that's the level they will start at. Also Loyalty for starters is generally 2 or lower, at your decision.

I'll probably get a sheet up tommorrow or maybe tonight. We allowed to use wiki stuff?
Such as...
Do you mean like the Elementalist? If so then that is allowed.
