Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
This is pretty neat. I looked through the color PDF and the blank one and this could be pretty useful. Just need to find out what local coins match the ones used for these miniatures.
I was wondering what the black and white version would be for, but I get it now. With the color version, I get a green dragon. With the black and white one, I'll also get the rest of the spectrum of dragon.
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Small goblins?! Blasphemy!
But in all seriousness, these are really cool. And we finally get to see land trolls in OOTS art.
EDIT: And the orc chieftain is Chief Grukgruk!

The minis aren't exactly in Stick-style, or at least not all of them — the art is a bit more detailed. Compare Mr. Scruffy in the intro to the example cat.
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
True. "OOTS-esque" art would be a more accurate term, I suppose.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Very, very nice. Thank you, Rich- these are incredible and I'm really looking forward to the other installments. A collection of all four mini's installments along was worth my contribution, to say nothing of the bonus PDF's and the coloring books.
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Hmmmmm.
Guess what? I think there will be a very surreptitious, but rather prominent, spike in people making runs to work laser printers in the very near future.
To... uh... test that maintenance has balanced the colours right, this time. Yeah. Uh... this heavy-duty stock I just happened to bring in myself...? Uh... Well, you need to test on non-standard to double-check, right?
They're utterly wonderful, Rich. If I could reach out of the screen and hug you, I would.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Hooray for small goblins that has been gone since the beginning of OOTS (I wonder if Rich initially created the medium goblins for orcs until change of story). Orcs were my favorite.
P.S- which one is the true Spriggans? Elderscrolls (Looks more like Dryad in tree form) or D&D (small imps)?

Spriggans were a kind of faerie or dwarf in Cornish folklore, serving as bodyguards for their fairer cousins. They were small, ugly, ill-tempered humanoids, with the ability to grow to enormous size.
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Do you guys notice that the yellow musk creepers look like azurites since they have blue clothings (which makes it creepy if you imagine the fate of azurite refugee who went into forest of elf island or scouting the island). then again, their clothing could be blue from aging or natural chemical from yellow musk.

Don't forget the knockers. Basically, these are mining spriggans only found underground. In, er... mines.
Protip: never leave a pasty unguarded in a mine. The knockers will have away with it -- or just eat chunks out of it. (Best excuse for workplace theft ever? Possibly.)

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Okay, just checked my inbox, saw the cutouts... holy crap these are amazing. I guess I was really only vaguely aware of the digital rewards, I didn't realize they were on this scale. This is both incredibly awesome, and frankly, incredibly useful. Thanks Giant!

So you're saying that knockers need pasties. Got it.
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I already know people who want to buy my miniatures. Do you think Rich will post a digital pdf to buy off of OOKADOOK? Or a printed book in beautiful preforated card stock?
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
These are awesome, especially the mounts that have the little shelf to put the rider on! After much deliberation, I've decided that my first cut outs will be the Grig Fiddler riding a Racing Snail.
You know what would complement this nicely? A creature guide to go with it, in the style of the Monstrous Compendium but with OotS comedy and some unique creatures. Maybe for a later mystery prize?

Guys, can you answer this question?
P.S- Good to see an asian ranger with katana (though he looks like Mr Larceny)

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Wow!
This is an incredible selection that went way and beyond my expectations! Thank you so much Rich, for creating such an expansive, detailed, and varied selection.
I particularly value the sheer diversity, both in terms of race, ethnicity, and D&D edition. I always struggle with finding decent art for dark-skinned characters, and wish other artists would follow this example. Would you guys know any sites for such art?
You have my eternal gratitude for your hard work, Rich!
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
t209- um, are you asking a question? if you mean did I notice blue clothing on the yellow creeper, I don't see what you mean.
Anyway- these are SO COOL! Better and different than I imagined. One of the Druids has inspired me to fire up my Temple of Elemental Evel PC game just to use Meleny again.
And for everyone being inspired to try a real D&D tabletop game because of these, I say Yes!, do so! Revision 3.5 is the easiest version as far as gameplay (IMO; no THAC0, for instance) and OOTS-ness, and gathering some friends and acquaintances for a session is fun and less dorky than you may have heard.
This is the first of the rewards to me and I love it; thank you, Rich!
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Oh. wow. These minis! They're... they're great!
I love the Bat-Bomber goblin. He looks so happy.

Yeah, he was a standout for me too. Doubly so since he made me realize I could use the templates to make Warhammer and 40k minis without having to fork over an arm and a leg.
The dog (the first one) is pretty, pretty cute. Awesome.
