Once you progress in the campaign we will also be using this thread as encyclopedia for everything you discover about aliens and their tech, for quick reference.
Then of course, if you want to discuss or ask something about the campaign OOC this is the place to do it!
Oh I almost forgot: pick a colour for your lines of dialogue! Must be easy to read.

Captain Robert Donald Carver. Formerly a Regular in the Army of Her Majesties Armed forces - 6th Division 52nd Infantry Brigade. Served in Israel, Afganistan and Iraq as an attached officer to both British and NATO international units. Now seconded as part of the new X-COM defense forces to act in an on-field combat officer position.

EDIT: Quick question: What do we know so far? Do we know about the Aliens etc?
Just what I've described in the setting, UFOs are starting to appear more often, small villages have disappeared and there are some sightings even in cities, basically they went from urban legend to real (but still largely unkown) threat, but no one has had a good look at them and there are no well documented third-type encounters yet.
Keep in mind we are in 1999 and this trend is just a few months old, with increasing frequency. One of the reasons why the X-COM base is still under construction.
You will literally be the first agents on the field.

It hasn't been explicitly stated yet, but you can imagine it has something to do with UFOs.
By the way, do go on with your questions IC, the other players will catch up later when they start posting.

Given that this campaign promises to be all kinds of lethal already, is it possible to take averaged HP rolls instead of rolling?
3-4 hp less won't make much of a difference, don't worry...
But, for future hp rolls, you have the chance of take average instead of rolling, but you have to decide before rolling.

Since Overlord Rion hasn't been posting since we started I'm going to give the position of Squad Leader to Gaiyamato's character Robert Craver if Overlord doesn't turn up in time for the part where the Colonel will organize your squad (which should be soon).
Should Overlord Rion start posting when we are beyond that point his character will be second in command, to avoid confusion.
Is this fine for everyone? Gaiyamato, are you ok to step up as squad leader?

Yes, the squad leader makes the critical decisions, your characters can and should follow his lead, but it's not mind control, your characters won't be forced into doing anything, gameplay-wise.
