Born in Southern Hiroth, Aramel was taken in by the church of Osulia and grew up in a monastary to the north. There, he excelled, absorbing the texts and teachings of the clergy like a fish taken to water. He was the brightest student that they'd had, a special, his teachers crowed to each other, once in a lifetime genius that would go on to do great things. For the church, of course, and for God.
There was though, a weakness within him, that that he strove carefully to keep hidden from his teachers and the jealous view of the other pupils. A desire, which quashed even his best attempts to stay it, for more knowledge. Holy, heathen, heretical, the source mattered little him. He simply absorbed it all.
It was on his way out to one of his excursions, that he was caught in the monks. Perhaps misled by Aramel's reputation, the man greatly praised his desire to begin spreading the faith and, after bringing him to his office, shoved a package filled to the brim with books and told him to deliver it to the newly constructed church in Eben. It was poor condolences to Aramel that the man blessed him on the way out.

It's been a long week and a half of travelling for Aramel Fielt. Tasked to deliver the Holy Teachings of the Osulian church to the border town of Eben, he has hired on several mercenaries of... various... nationalities and personalities to protect him along the roads between towns. So far, between the size of his entourage and some rather good luck, he hasn't seen the need for these mercenaries yet.
Having just now arrived, he is surprised to see the hustle and bustle that goes on. Between merchants hawking their goods as loudly and enthusiastically as humanly possible, the shrieking laughter of small children getting underfoot, and the common noise of everyday life, Eben does not fit his expectations of so southern a town at all. It is far too busy, far too unrestrained, and most oddly of all, the guards are less than vigilant.
He is so taken in by these sights that he almost fails to notice a bump to his side.
"Hey there, mister priest," the rough man begins, "Alms for the destitute?"
A snigger, from hired muscle that's come from God knows where. The atmosphere suddenly seems a lot more tense, an air of violence just waiting to spill over.
"No? Maybe your life then? I'll offer you up a prayer. If you've the gold to afford one!"
His travelling sack seems much lighter.

Lord reaches the Church [E2] (without the Scriptures)
Aramel's eyes narrow in anger at the ruffian before him. They dared threaten an Osulian in broad daylight!? What sort of town was this? His hand went to his bag and missed the telltale shape of one of the books he had been entrusted. They stole from and then threatened him even with his armed guard nearby? One could only wonder what deprivations they inflicted on the defenseless townsfolk. This would not stand.
"I do not know who you thieves think you are! To threaten and steal from me! I can only imagine what horrors this town must face on a daily basis if they let you roam free. But not longer! Come dear companions let us free this place from their villainy!"
Lloyd was rather impressed, these men were desperate or crazy enough to attack a man with an armed bodyguard. The war has really put some stress on these towns, he thought. He readied his dagger as Aramel let out a call to arms.
"Hold on Nina! It would better to wait for Roland," Lloyd called towards the mage.
(@Illven: Nina plus Aramel would be too much damage, Lloyd and Roland cannot do enough damage to kill thug 2. Lloyd should go to K19 and Nina go to K20 after Roland attacks.)

Oh whoops.
Thankfully she had not cast the spell yet. All it took was a flick of her hand and a side-step lunge to correct.
Deploy to M19 Move to K20 and attack Thug 1 if Roland hits.
Nain had been scanning the crowd since the minute they entered the chaotic city- same principle as looking for marks for street tricks really, but in reverse. Two kids running past his feet distracted him though, and his eyes came back on Aramel a second too late.
"Boss look out for- ...okay, here we go."
He nocked an arrow and positioned himself behind the people who could tangle with these meatheads, inasmuch as their little company had any. He locked eyes with the thief and smiled a little.
"Good plan. Let's rob the guy with five rough looking friends- hey, why am I full of arrows?"
Once Thug 1 goes down, Nain will move to J19 and attack the thief with his Iron Bow.
"This is such a seedy city. Noisy, too. It would be good to-" A blurry silhouette appeared next to her employer, er, travelling companion, and quickly took off. Imeena wasted no time in giving chase.
"Silly thief, you cannot outrun my horse... or my blade. Why don't you give up now while you still draw breath?"
(Deploy at M21, once Nain has moved, move to I19 and attack the Thief)
Enemy Phase
The thief takes off with an expression of offended pride, the wound in his side the only thing stopping him from throwing a quip over his shoulder as he flees. Even as the cutpurse breaks away from Imeena, several raggedly dressed thugs emerge from the alleys, chipped and notched axes held in thick fingered hands. It figures that the coward would bring some friends.

Spoiler
No action. The guards are slow to react to the sudden combat.
Aramel's eyes fill with sorrow as the thief flees with all haste. He turns to Imeena in desperation.
"Please dear lady, chase him down and end him, those books are precious, and should bring hope to this troubled town. I shall try and cover your flank."
Grasping his injured side with his free hand, Nain hurried up against the wall behind their fearless leader and took a few moments to staunch his wounds.
It was over quickly for the thug, a blinding burst from Aramel's light magic, then the final strike with Lloyd's blade. The man slumped to the ground with only a small grunt. Have to keep moving, he thought, moving farther up the street.
Imeena shrugged off the scratch inflicted by the thief, and gave chase. "You ruffians don't learn, do you? Let me put you in your place."
Looking around, she noticed another thief skulking between two houses. There's no honour among thieves, that one's probably going to try to take advantage of the situation. As if I'd let that happen.
(Move to E17, attack Thief 1, canto to E18 if Thief 1 dies)

"Much appreciated, Nina. This will let me focus at the battle at hand. Speaking of which, are these scriptures really so valuable? The enemy forces appear to be more a garrison than a band of ruffians."
