The precise wording of the power is:
TRIGGERED ACTIONS
Narrow Escape * Encounter
Trigger: A close or an area attack hits or misses the kobold.
Effect (Immediate Interrupt): The kobold shifts up to 3 squares.
However, if had been written as follows:
Narrow Escape * Encounter
Trigger: The first time a close or an area attack hits or misses the kobold.
Effect (Free Action): The kobold shifts up to 3 squares.
then it would be mandatory. Since it's listed as an immediate action (and no "the first time" language), the combatant has the choice to take it or not.
No problem, we all get a chance to learn something.
Lycan, I don't suppose you've got a healing word to spare for my summon? The healing won't go to waste, since it seems to be quite a target for the kobolds, and it gives us a free Melee attack each round. I have no way of healing it myself, and with 2 HP left, a minion could kill it this turn .

Lycan,
Zimelda doesn't have "healing touch", she has healing word, it's usable at range, it does not provoke OAs, and it is limited to 1/turn. Please revise your turn.
In addition, I strongly recommend you consider shadow_elf's advice about whom to heal. Even if the kobolds crit, they can't drop you or Arjhan. Even if they do drop someone, healing is more efficient if you wait until the PC is unconscious.
Shadow_elf, you can actually heal the slime, by pouring your healing potion on it as a standard action (only 10 HP regained though).
Well, I don't have the actions to do that this turn. Also, that would involve ending my turn in human form, without any other mitigating defensive bonuses.

Oh right, can't access possessions while in beastform.
Arjhan could do it:
Free: Drop sword
Move: Shift next to slime while drawing potion
Standard: Administer potion to slime
Minor: DC somebody next to him
Slime kills quickblade, pull is irrelevant, narrate whatever you want.
A note about Mertes's and Alessa's turns:
If Mertes's turn is first, then Dragonshield 2's readied action (charge any enemy who falls from the walkway) triggers. Mertes eats an attack, with CA since he's Prone, (I haven't rolled it yet) and the DS is safe from the buffeting wave.
If we rearrange the turns so that Alessa's is first, then Mertes's and Alessa's actions go off without a hitch (DS2's readied action is lost due to being Prone). I also happen to think this is cooler. It makes the fight easier on you guys, but I suspect you need the help.
Dragonshield 1's readied action was to charge whoever killed the Quickblade. As he was Prone when that happened, the action is lost.
I might bewrong, but doesnt the shied kobold movement is 5 (I beleive they wear heavy armor).
I am 6 square away from them , so hopefully I might save myself some charge attack.
SO even if I go first, well they are out of reach for their charge :).
But I am wrong,I have no trouble having Alessa go before me.
The stat block for the dragon shields says their speed is 6. I guess they have the same deal that dwarves do.
The other issue is that Mertes does not auto pass the jump check. The wyrmpriest gets a chance to dodge. So his reflex defense (15) gets added to the jump dc (5) so the total DC is 20. In the pms I had mentioned that Mertes lacks a feat or power to do this so the jump dc will be very hard but we had both forgotten it.
Roll twice. Even if you miss you still get the charge attack.
Story of my life... Well since it is an ordinary charge, I'll use Holwing strike (If I recall correctly I can do that right?).
EDIT : Reading again what you told me in PMs, I realise I could had charged , but it was a choice.. I still would had tried to hit the creature, so I just miss that falling damage sharing I guess.... sad, was a nice 13 damages! Additionnal damage (1D6)[4]
I'll also use Iron wolf charge to add (1D6)[6] damage
And possibly give -2 to his next attacks (wont push) : (1D20+4)[16] vs WILL
Spoiler
Iron Wolf Charge
You scream out an unnerving howl as you charge into battle. Faint-hearted foes shrink from your savage wrath.
Encounter Fear, Martial, Primal
No Action Close burst 2
Trigger: You hit an enemy with a charge attack.
Effect: That enemy takes 1d6 extra damage from the triggering attack, and you make the following attack.
Level 11: 2d6 extra damage.
Level 21: 3d6 extra damage.
Target: Each enemy in the burst
Attack: Highest ability modifier vs. Will
Hit: You push the target up to 2 squares. The target takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls until the end of your next turn.
I said in PMs if you missed the jump DC it would be a normal charge attack, so you can use howling strike + iron wolf charge. So, Wyrmpriest gets 10 damage and is Rattled UENT-Mertes. (The "MBA only" restriction was only if you hit with the jump attack)
However, you can't take any actions after a charge attack. Mertes is still Prone. I suggest you use the move action before you jump--downgrade it to a minor-- to sustain.
Yes, actually Mukesh (or Mertes?) picked them up but I ruled that he distributed them to all of you after that.
There are also a few other interesting things that were recovered at the burial site: four potions of "Restore Racial Encounter Power" (for Goliaths, it restores Stone Endurance; for Drow, it restores Darkfire; for Dragonborn, it restores Dragonbreath; for Dwarves, it restores Dwarven Reslience). And four flasks of Alchemist's Fire.
The map site appears to be down. I can take a screenshot of my local copy and post it on a hosting site. And now it's up.
At least, the daze and push should buy me a round, since he is too close for a charge... I'd had prefered save ends to maybe get a few rounds out of it... oh well.
Snow : Did I was able to use the howling strike since I miss after all? (from the monster status it does look like so). If so I'll tag as used iron wolf charge .
I thought it was not an option after all... just to make sure my status is updated correctly.
I had initially said "If you try for the falling damage then the charge must be a plain MBA" but later I amended it to "If you try for the falling damage and succeed, the charge must be a plain MBA". So I allowed the howling strike and iron wolf charge on the wyrmpriest.
