The_Snark? Incendius? Can I get a post from you two, please?
Sorry for being so sluggish. I'd normally have found time to post by now, but I've been unsure about what to do next, and that keeps me from getting it done. Sidereal cloak-and-dagger stuff is tricky. :/
I will try to figure something out by tomorrow.

Actually, Isa wouldn't look like a Realm woman - Penumbra is currently outside fate, yes? So she'd see Isa's real face and ethnicity (vaguely Eastern or Threshold) instead of the resplendent destiny.

She is outside fate, so she does see Isa's real appearance, but she still probably thinks that. Isa is wearing Realm clothes, and Penumbra isn't exactly a knowledgeable person (Lore 0). Easy mistake for her to make.
Basically waiting for someone else to do something: the only thing Child could say right now would be a lie, and he knows the best way to lie is to simply not talk.

Really? I do/don't want to take down the necromancer responsible would be a lie?
More the fact that knows exactly what the reason for the attacks is(well, the most broad reason), and thereby what his nature is. Mostly think about Horngeeks's post. I guess I can respond to Aevylmar's post.

Okay! Finally posted. Hopefully it's safe to assume that Isa can get in unchallenged, since Besi did the same a few minutes ago. Let me know if she's going to be interrupted.
Also, I have a few changes I'd like to make to my sheet (spending my last bonus point, removing a Charm I don't qualify for, a few other tweaks). Since we're in the middle of play, I thought I'd check first. That okay?

... what exactly do Realm clothes entail?

You haven't used any charms, so I'd be fine with that.
Realm Clothes would probably have a distinct style of some sort; there would be some sort of popular fashion that the Realm would have. The cut of a robe/tunic/dress, the presence of House insignia, and so on.
Can I see Isa's eyes fine, and thus the dots that mark, to some degree, a Sidereal?

Actually, I'm fairly certain you'd be able to recognize the Old Man's Shadow pretty much instantly, given that your connections with the Bronze Faction, and importance.
EDIT: And without Charms, Child and Isa now believe that Skandi knows "his secret." I don't believe anyone else held enough of a belief that Child had a secret for Skandi to invert.
EDIT2: Skandi's attack result was 14 (10 sux on Manipulation+Performance, 3 on specialty, 1-die stunt), in case you want to use your excellency or other Charms.
Yeah, I figure most Sidereals can recognize one another by sight. I like the idea that Child doesn't know her name, though.
For the record, the changes to my sheet:
Spoiler
Changes to sheet: dropped Becoming the Wilderness and Fateful Martial Arts Excellency (need Essence 3), swapped a Performance Excellency for Heart-Brightening Presentation Style (because I didn't know about the errata when making my sheet), added a Bureaucracy Excellency and some dots in Socialize, exchanged hearthstone amulet for a dragon tear tiara.
Also: mind-reading is awesome! 6 successes gives Isa a fairly detailed picture of what Skandi is thinking right now. If he suspects what's happening, he can resist with Wits + Integrity.
Edit - since we're making first impressions, it seems like a good time to mention that Isa is under the effects of Lion Mouse Stratagem:
Quote:
The Sidereal cloaks herself in the humble and unassuming air of the neophyte student, the civil servant, or the hanger-on in the company of legends. She seems unthreatening, imposing a -3 external penalty on all attempts to gauge her nature and the level of her skill. This unassuming mien also makes it difficult to view the Sidereal as a serious threat; all attempts to re-establish surprise enjoy a bonus of (Sidereal’s Essence) dice. This Charm constitutes a form of unnatural mental influence costing two Willpower to resist for one scene.

At this point, I would like to remind Tavar and The_Snark that they are in the Convention of Wood, and that Child works pretty much directly under Ayesha.

Not knowing her name is more a factor that she's the Old Man's Shadow: it's a nickname so ubiquitous that it's overshadowed(:rimshot: her own name).

I meant something more along the lines of "My boss is going to be really angry at me if I kill this Lunar." This is Gold Faction territory, after all.
The most Child would do at this point is tag some kind of mildly embarrassing astrological effect on him(or, that's what would happen if Paradox didn't have a good chance to waste my character...)
Hell, he doesn't even know that it is a Lunar.

Ah! Right. Child doesn't know he's a Lunar yet, though.
... is it bad that my mind instantly made the leap to "arrange for Child to kill Skandi and let him take the blame from the Gold Faction?" I mean, from a not-murdering-and-betraying-fellow-PCs standpoint it's obviously bad, not to mention the difficulty of getting Child to do it, but it's such a deviously Sidereal plot.

Sounds about right. But that's what Efficient Secretary Technique is for!

It means you're thinking like a true Chejopian disciple. Given that Child is independent, it might also push him back to the Bronze Faction, too!

Rolling Penumbra's perception+awareness check. If the information she is looking for is sight based, she gets +4 successes and doubled successes on the roll.
(9d10)[10][4][10][9][5][10][1][10][1](60)
... So 9 successes if its not sight based, 22 if it is.

Though, I would like to know why some seem convinced I'm an Exalt.

I do believe he just used a Key to the Infernal Gates. It is too bad that Penumbra barely knows what Malfeas is, let alone what some kinda artifact could give access to it .
Skandi knows just how improbable it is for anyone who isn't Exalted to be running around with artifacts, which is the weakest part of his cover story. He doesn't know Child is Exalted, but he suspects it.
For the speech: Hmm. If it's a social attack, I'll burn 5 motes on Manipulation, giving me 12 dice plus Appearance successes. All Personal, of course.

Artifacts are actually decently common, at least in the canonical setting. Magitech is rare, but God-Blooded and Mortal Essence users can easily have artifact weapons if they aren't in the Realm. Of course, they aren't likely to have the powerful stuff, but an Artifact 2 hardly counts for that.

That was very much not the picture of the world I got from the core rulebook. According to Core, the major god Gri-Fel has no artifacts, the powerful Lunar Magnificent Jaguar's only Artifact is a pair of smashfists and the Bull of the North, the most powerful Solar Exalt in the world, has no artifact armor and only one two-dot artifact sword - which is Jade, not even Orichalcum.
It also says that
Quote:
Mortals may not purchase the Artifact or Manse backgrounds without Storyteller permission. If a mortal controls one of these, it's a plot device, not an object for him to use.
on page 81, talking about playing heroic mortals.
So the impression I got was that artifacts, outside the Realm and Lookshy, were ultra-rare, and so for a God-Blood like Skandi to have the artifacts he does is extraordinary - in fact, that he has an unusually high number of artifacts for a Lunar.

Most gods seem to lack artifacts, and the Bull of the North is pretty far from the areas of civilization.
On the other hand, the guild book routinely talks about mortals having artifacts. Also, mortals=/=Heroic Mortals. And I'm pretty sure the Scroll of Heroes doesn't have such a limitation.
Oh, and don't forget that god-blooded aren't exactly normal mortals.

It's the problem when you have lots of freelancers working on the same setting.
I'm going to say that an artifact is like a luxury car. You don't need to be a millionaire to get one, and there are millionaires who don't have one. In some areas of the world, having one, even if wealthy, would be automatically suspicious. In others, the opposite would be true.
I'd say that regardless of the overall rarity of artifacts, starmetal artifacts, due to the monopoly on them by the Bureau of Destiny, and Arcane Fate, are perceived as more rare than others.
Sounds reasonable. Though, would Skandi know that it's starmetal?
