Maybe. Though all he really needs is "beautifully crafted" and "Shiny strange metal I haven't seen before," for him to be suspicious.
Oh, it's suspicious, but all he'd know is that it's an artifact, and we're in the territory of Lookshy, Nexus, Great Forks, etc. The Scavenger Lands, where people are still pulling Artifacts out of the ground. You aren't honestly saying that this is one of the areas where having an artifact incredibly suspicious, are you?

My assumption is that every Lunar would know what Starmetal is, in roughly the same sense that every Immaculate Monk knows what Orichalcum is. Skandi is not thinking in terms of Sidereals (because of Arcane Fate, largely), but the thought of him having no idea what Starmetal is honestly never crossed my mind. If all Skandi sees is a strange and beautifully crafted item (rather than an ultra-rare and fairly powerful artifact), then he's been making assumptions he shouldn't have made.
I think I'm going to wait for this to be sorted out before posting in the main IC thread. I may have been playing Skandi wrong, and I'd really like to know before I continue playing him.

I'll roll Int+"Occult"+Backing(Silver Pact, since I do believe the Lunar elders don't like Sidereals very much) for Skandi, to see whether or not he's heard of Starmetal. I'd argue that this would be a difficulty 2 roll.

EDIT: Skandi knows what Starmetal is. As you were, gentlemen.
I'd say that regardless of the overall rarity of artifacts, starmetal artifacts, due to the monopoly on them by the Bureau of Destiny, and Arcane Fate, are perceived as more rare than others.
...I'd assume adamant would be even worse. Since after all, no exalts actually use the stuff...

Actually, adamant would be perceived by scholars as slightly more common. While most would think that because neither is tied to a type of Exalt, the artifact is extremely rare, adamant is used by the Mountain Folk, while starmetal is used by...um...I'm sorry. I forget who.

(Also, this is why all Isa's artifacts are minor jade things. And she has a cover story as a Realm scion to explain them.)
Also also: I've been giving Child and Skandi a chance to talk a little while Isa tries to work out an excuse to follow them. Her hearthstone only has a range of 20 yards right now, so it's quite possible they're out of mind-reading range.

... Would your hearthstone let you know that Penumbra is there, or do you need to see someone to use it? If it is the former, that might be an interesting way of making people aware of her.
She has to focus on the target, so I think she'd have to know Penumbra is present already.
If you want to be noticed, though, that's possible if Isa makes use of Awareness Charms; Expected Pain gives her a fair chance of detecting Penumbra (provided that she qualifies as a "hidden threat", which seems reasonable).

Ah, have Skandi and Child gone off by themselves to talk? I must have missed that, I thought they were being public enough to be eavesdropped on without a lot of trouble.
I assumed that when Child walked off he was looking for privacy, so anybody trying to eavesdrop would have to make some sort of check (Stealth if they want to get closer, or maybe Awareness if they want to try for super-hearing) to be unobtrusive about it. Pretty sure Skandi and Child would have been even more circumspect if they knew other people were listening in.

Possibly. Penumbra doesn't really intend to start killing people here though, not unless she has to (or someone who is obviously a slaver shows up, but even then she would be discrete).
Its up to you though; her introduction might flow easier if it isn't in the middle of a huge crowd.
Yeah, "threat" is sort of a vague term. But if you and the ST are all right with it, I might go ahead. Isa is more likely to investigate on her own than shout, "hey, a spy!" so it's not a bad way to start bringing Penumbra together with (some of) the others.

Well...it is an abyssal. They pretty much default to a threat to all living things, at least in the long term....

Not exactly. They're meant to be destroyers; "of what" is up to the player.
Not Exactly, at least canon wise. They can change, but as long as they are tied to the Neverborn/Oblivion as strongly as they are, if they try and buck the trend they easily end up enforcing it instead. By becoming something else besides Abyssals( not necessarily Solars, mind you), they avert this, but one of the points of the Infernal/Abyssal split is that the latter are much better designed for their task.

You know, this brings up another point: does Skandi realize there's a dynast right next to them, and thus continuing to insist that Child is an Exalt is essentially trying to get him murdered? Cause, that might cause some friction.

As I understood the conversation, we were off by ourselves talking quietly. Skandi was insisting that Child was an Exalt to Child's face - not to Besi's face, or even near her back.

Well, technically you started while we were standing next to her.
