I mostly read this comic like some anthropological report on a tribe somewhere in the jungle with customs totally alien to me and all I believe in. This, I think, is a good example. Why are people freaking out here? I don't have the slightest idea. It all seems to be going really well for them, from what I can see. I can only wait and hope there is an explanation forthcoming, eldritch and terrifying in ways Eldan was not meant to knows though it may be.

Well, haven't all of her encounters to date consisted of polyamorous casual flings? And this is a real monogomous relationship. With someone she's really into (read: is falling for pretty hard). Who is a friend, and an ex of a close friend.
If she gives herself to this, there's a lot to lose when it goes to hell.

I don't think it really counts as polyamorous if it's a string of one-night stands and casual flings. I think there might have been one poly relationship in her past, but I'm a bit muddled as I dislike Tai as a character and her role in the story so far.
Marten doesn't have a spine, so there's no real risk of losing anything in regards to him save via him being moved by someone else.

I'll agree with the beginning but I don't think Jeph was all serious there... otherwise I don't think he'd just thrown out common insults but rather tried to make some point with it... unless he is much more... well, what's the right word... much more serious about politics than I'd imagined him being.

That seems uncomfortably close to basically admitting that the comics fanbase doesn't care about the flaws because they're all sycophantic to some degree and so it's not worth discussing or for the bloody guy who makes it to ever consider.
