Yes, survive. If things go bad at a police station break in, and I mean Nazis riding Dinosaurs bad, then I can guarantee Stephanie is at the heart of it.


On second thought, Marchande you could go for a walk and not contribute, if you'd like. Maybe buy some dino repellant?

To be fair, you've had exams, Thanqol had exams, Raz probably had exams, Phoe is having a sort of crisis (we love you and miss you Phoe! ) and I can barely recognize any given twenty four hour period as a discrete entity unto itself. We all kinda had a gentlemare's agreement hat slowing down was okay, so long as we kept current. Or so it seemed.

I don't see what Stephanie could contribute to the plan. If we're going with it as is, step one is Marchy visiting the station to tell them to get ready for the "Speaker's" inspection. Hopefully she'll think to tell them that the "Speaker" wants to keep this low key, so don't tell the press.

Oh, and I did ask the ST a question about court tokens back there.

Thanqol, that last IC line from me was intended as an offer for an oath, which Stephanie just sort of blundered into by answering "yeah" as the first word out of her mouth. Terms were that she's tasked with being unable to leave the place for any reason (a major task I think -3), and the oath lasts a day (+1) and they're offering her glamour (+2). His side is a minor curse if he affects her physical safety (-1).

I'm not sure that was clear enough from the line though, what do you think?

Aha. Maledictions. I'd be indignant if I hadn't decided to use them in my own Changeling game. You got me.

(If you haven't read the book - Dancers at Dusk, I think? - A Malediction is where someone says something like "I'll finish this today even if it kills me!" and a Changeling says "Good luck with that!" and it counts as a a sealed Pledge with Death as the curse. Forcing people to follow through on their figures of speech. Nasty.)

EDIT: Though that oath works out at -1; you need to add another positive to balance the scales.

I think that a deal like this has to include some kind of curse otherwise it's not as cool and makes less sense, there's none of that 'darn I was tricked! Better watch what I say!' sense. Also, Stephanie's side would probably be better phrased as a forbiddance than a task, though that's minor. Otherwise good.

Well, I can make the task shorter, maybe just staying the night instead of the whole day for a -2 and then a -1 curse on Stephanie if she breaks the oath. And yeah, forbiddance on the rock guy.

Not that anybody asked, but Rose is taking advantage of the peace and quiet to contemplate everything that happened to her during the day, and the sort of life she wants out of this new lease on it. And for that matter, which one she deserves.

I've witnessed a party member in another game succumb to the terrible disease of Wanting To Be Batman. The character is a fat graffiti artist who knows Fate magic - in a nutshell, he can make one in a million chances nine times out of ten. Since he doesn't know kung fu, is horribly unathletic, and is barely a novice at shooting guns his Batman saving people sequences tend to involve him closing his eyes, shooting wildly, getting 'lucky' and hitting perfectly, and then congratulating himself for yet another job well done.

That character also operates in San Francisco.

What I'm saying is this city needs a better class of superhero.

Hey, man, I'm gearing up for finals. I'm all right with Marchy internet cafein' (which I did write up) until she gets contacted by one of her posse about Stephanie or Rose.

Incidentally, darn, WoD is intimidating, writing-wise. Writing factually about the modern day is my kryptonite.
