Tishtina is a goddess of sex and passion where positive energy is. She's just catagorized as a goddess of sex as opposed to love because there should be no mistake about the carnal nature of her worship. Many "love" goddesses have a chaste, pure love about their nature. Sabrina's view is sex for profit, many Sabrina "temples" are more like brothels. Youve got Nocticula right.

The thing is, if Lok were to be given a box, then it would be hard to justify Zippy and Tasha and Clyde not getting one as well. Terry is generous, but not that generous. So, only PCs, not cohorts (who, by rules, are supposed to get their rewards from their liege) get betting coins.

No-no-no-no-no, I understand perfectly. As a cohort, it is Lil's responsibility to provide for Lok. In special situations (such as being granted a necklace for his devotion) outside agencies may specifically bequeath something to him, since he does 'live and breathe.'

No, I figured he didn't, but I wanted to define yes/no so it wasn't open-ended. I mean, he is there as a bodyguard, not as a high-profile client. (Of course, visibly as a firbolg he is a literally and figuratively a high-profile bodyguard.)

In the same vein, I assume that he rooms with Lildorrinene (the rooms sound spacious enough anyway) while Dot has Zippy in the bed, Clyde on the floor at her feet, and Tasha in the tub with a pillow.

From here on, I will assume that all things which are offered are offered to PCs, and cohorts, menagerie, and the portmanteau of the two (coterie) are under the aegis of the PC, with the PC responsible (as always) for those in employ/ vassaldom/ bound slavery.

Some people make pilgrammages to Mecca. Some to Jerusalem. Others go to famous sporting arenas/events, and others go to natural wonders like the Grand Canyon.
Debbie and I are on a pilgrammage this week. Our responses might be slower. Are we going to some religious site? No, no, no. Are we going to something sporting? No, no, no. Are we going to a natural wonder? No, no, no.
Well, where are you going then?

Okay, playing cards. I think the best way to run this would be if you wanted to involve yourself into a Texas Rennador Hold'Em tournament or a Blackjack tourney.
For those of you unfamiliar with those variants, both of them would be played the same way as poker or blackjack, however the objective would be to have all the chips at the end of the game in poker, or the most chips at the table, in blackjack. That way, your winning would not alienate or cost Terry anything, as the house merely takes a cut of the total table, and then just acts as card dispenser.
None of you have Profession:Gambler (unless you do, which would be my mistake). As I see it, the required skills for poker would be Profession, if you have it, along with Bluff, Sense Motive, and card luck. For blackjack, once again, Profession and card luck come into play. Blackjack tourney is a little different in that you have to have more chips than anyone else, but you arent playing against them in the way of taking their chips, you are taking from the house and whoever takes the most, wins. So bluff or sense motive dont play into it, I could see an Intimidate roll being used, as you try to force your opponents into betting bigger to keep up with you.
Each game has 8 players in the table for each, the house takes 1/8 so the winner takes home 7Xthe stake. You can easily find games of 1000 gp buy in, 5,000 gp buy in or 10,000 gp buy in. (you can, of course, find even bigger games if you want to risk your own money, instead of Terry's stake.)

I am open to other ideas, but PbP does sort of limit your options. If you wish to go with one of these tournaments, make your choice IC, including level of betting, and provide me with 8 sets of rolls for all associated skills. Based on your rolls and the rolls of your opponents, I will tell you how you do.

The one thing to remember, and this might give you pause for a moment, and want to suggest something else. Both of these variants are winner take all. You cannot have 4 opponents knocked out of the table for instance, and then take up your winnings from there. You have to be in it all the way.

If, after hearing this, you want to try something else, Im open to all sorts of suggestions. Most of them would just include rolls of luck; for instance, theres no skill to betting on roulette, its the luck of the bouncing ball.

I'm all for simple and cinematic, and those games seem like great choices to me, Debbie. It would be nice if high sense motive and bluff checks could be an advantage, but sometimes the cards just aren't with you.

I'd like to suggest that all of the PC's who want to play make (or ask Debbie to make) the relevant rolls, Debbie lets us know whether we end up busted or with the pot (in either case, of course, it might be best to avoid animosity by not betting at the same table, so we're not competing with each other). We can then either do some interactions/wrap-up posts about the evening, perhaps scout out other VIP's in the casino to see if any of the other major religions are represented, and then move on...

...unless someone else wants to dive into the specific hands and play things out in more detail.

Bluff and Sense Motive do come into play in the poker. In Blackjack, theres none of that.
And yes, you should all play at different tables. All at the same table and its a zero sum game. Actually, less than zero when you factor in the house cut.

Blackjack is very much a game of intellect. True, it takes one hell of an intellect to be able to hone in on 4-6 decks of cards. But "card-counting" is a ridiculous charge without some physical means of detection. Because that's what professional gamblers do, and it is silly to believe, even with luck, that they do not.

Recommendation? Blackjack is luck of the draw, but P:Gambler might be offset if a person has a higher INT, rather than WIS, but only if the mod of INT exceeds that of P:Gambler. Otherwise, it's "experience" (wisdom) that counts. Is that acceptable?

Very strange. I thought we posted all that info here, we did in most of our other threads. Very well.

Mikela and I are on a pilgrammage this week. Our responses might be slower. Are we going to some religious site? No, no, no. Are we going to something sporting? No, no, no. Are we going to a natural wonder? No, no, no.
Well, where are you going then?

And now its done. They were both EPIC.
The other rides were good too.....but those two were EPIC.

Canada's Wonderland, just north of Toronto.
For those who are into statistics, Leviathan is 309 feet high, has an initial drop of 80 degrees, and hits a top speed of 148 KPH.

Im not sure I quite understand your plan or your offer. From what I can make out, you plan to play a whole lot of games, spread over the whole casino, and any time you take money from the casino, you plan to pay that back 3X over, but if you win money from other people, you will keep that? If that is indeed your plan, I wouldnt have the faintest idea of how many roles that would require, or how to rule how much you won from the casino versus how much you won from other patrons. Nor could I see who such a strategy would make money, while you all have certain skill sets to help you, without the massive use of spells to cheat, I cant see you winning enough to counterbalance what you plan to pay out.
Im not saying I wont do it, Im just saying I have no idea of how to do it.

When you average out a fully-stocked casino's overall house average (HE) from the vast majority of games, you are usually talking upwards of 15% HE.

Treble that is 45%.

Lildorrinene will not go past an overall gross gain of that 10K gold (meaning a total of 20K gold). That's to make sure nothing is too suspicious, especially allotted throughout. Doubling one's winnings is nothing really spectacular at all.

What that really means is that of the gained 10K gold, the breakdown will be as such:
45% kickback to Terry Benedict = 4.5 K gold.
15% tips and the like for staff and hosting = 1.5K gold.
40% profit = 4K gold.

4000 gold doesn't really necessarily sound like a lot after Belmont Park and the several hundred thousand won there. A little extra doesn't hurt. But honestly? Lildorrinene would be doing it for the fun. Meanwhile, the staff would be extremely well tipped and happy. Terry would get an outstanding and verifiable kickback. Lil would have her demonic fun bilking customers without being really greedy (and therefore well under the radar). And, an evening's entertainment would be spent. This would only be a useful tactic for longterm if she did this every night, so this is just passing time.

Meanwhile, a hundred miles from the casino, Atareth is singing:

Think of a wonderful thought
Any merry little thought
Think of Christmas, think of snow
Think of sleigh bells
Off you go like reindeer in the sky

You can fly! You can fly!
You can fly!

Think of the happiest things
It's the same as having wings
Take the path that moonbeams make
If the moon is still awake
You'll see him wink his eye
You can fly, you can fly!
You can fly!

Up you go with a heigh and ho
To the stars beyond the blue
There's a Never Land waiting for you
Where all your happy dreams come true
Every dream that you dream will come true

When there's a smile in your heart
There's no better time to start
Think of all the joy you'll find
When you leave the world behind
And bid your cares goodbye
You can fly, you can fly!
You can fly, you can fly!
You can fly!

Due to a pending/possible PC retirement/new creation, as well as for the status of this game, I am trying to get a handle on how many people we still have and what everyone's opinion on this game is. I know this game is not like most games, i.e. kick open the door, kill the monster behind it, but thats by design, not by accident. But it may leave several people lost in all of the RP actions.
I know that Tali/Telasi is still active, Ive been PMing with that PC.
Melinda/Kalirren is out of touch for the weekend, but I need to see where she sees herself going.
Dot/Toli is semi-active, what is her status?
Atarath/Singer didnt want to go to the casino, but seemingly has left her actions hanging. By the way, I didnt want to have Sword as a paladin horse that can be summoned and dispelled, but Im going to have to rule that she can take Sword with her.
Tallesin/Ason and Ireth/Vulaas have both gone silent, so I would like an update on them

It only takes me another round to plane shift if I land in ocean.

The downside is that Sword's speed, while incredible, still may not be as fast as Atareth. Even if it is, Sword still has to deal with terrain - difficult and going around.

As I said, your plane shifts will take Sword with you, even if it exceeds any sort of weight restriction...and if you go to your home plane for R&R, you can take him with you if you chose. However, you cannot dispel him, you actually have to shift with him, and when you come back, he comes too. You can shift out of the prime without him if you wish.

Just like any other physical creature. I have the oomph to take him with. Plane shifting without is a pain because in plane shifting back, I have to fly to his location.

Conversations that Melinda needs to have via PM or in the private thread:

1) Visiting Lia to see exactly what Kotep thinks she's done
2) Dinner with Terry Benedict

Agenda for the IC thread:

I see only a few options for the group at large.

We can stop by Erandol to commission a divination from Elise (possibly for a favor), and see if she can help Dot find this connection of hers to the man in a pit.

We can investigate the Ailena lead, directly or indirectly. Probably worth going to Lysindra's and Glendira's churches first just so we're not walking into a vacuum.

Im going to insist that everyone in the party come along for this. That means, Melinda, Tali, Dot, Atarath and Lil's replacement as soon as she is made.
The question now is the status of Ason (Tallesin) and Vulaas (Ireth), I have still not heard from either.

Apologies for both the delay and the sermon. I was waiting to post in IC for the results of the PM exchange that Debbie already mentioned. The sermon is the result of me better wrapping my mind around the basic premises of the religions thanks to that exchange in combination with a slight boost to Tali's self-confidence from those events.

*sigh* I finish posting, and then see this. I may regret not having a weapon out now.
