As a big fan of RPG's, I think this is going to be a disaster. The man basically admitted to not knowing how the games work. It'll be like bringing in a car mechanic who doesn't know how to replace headlamps or change the oil to fix up your vintage Mustang.

A Deeper Kind Of Slumber is mine as well. It just sounded like they tried too hard with Amanethes. And the vocals are just too shouty. But Wildhoney is of course one of the greatest albums ever produced.

That was truly horrendous. I'm not sure it even qualifies as metal anymore. Why Pitchfork liked it, let alone called it Best New Track, is beyond me, although I have disagreed with it quite a bit in the past, so I shouldn't be too surprised.

Nope. At least in terms of sludge metal, pitchfork's got some solid picks, and since I'm not a black metal fan I can't comment on their taste in that, I can certainly observe that they review plenty of it and aren't any harder on it than on any other genre.
Also, can I make a brief comparison? Why is it that when Hunter Hunt Hendrix says stupid, pretentious crap, Liturgy sucks, but Shining gets a free pass despite all of the drivel they spew? Are you really gonna tell me HHH is worse than Shining?

It didn't leave me with any significant impressions. I don't really care, there's nothing wrong with Baroness playing a different genre of music, and there's nothing necessarily wrong with a band that doesn't play particularly "metal" music. In any case, I'll still have First, Second, the Red Album, and the Blue Record. I'm not convinced that the album with be terrible, anyways. Both of their full-lengths have had weak moments, so it's not really fair to judge them on the quality of a single song. Why should their next album be any different?

So, popping on this thread for the first time. Hi all \m/
Is Manowar taboo here? If not, anyone listened to the new album? I found some songs on youtube and it was... terribad. At least in my opinion. Gods of War was salvageable, but this... just no.

Aww, that's disappointing.
My favourite thing about Manowar is how I can enjoy them ironically and un-ironically simultaneously.

You mean the Battle Hymns remake? Man, why did they have to go do that. The original is by far my favourite album of theirs, and then they had to go mess with it. Sigh.
But nah, Manowar's okay. I'll listen to them occasionally when I need a testosterone injection, but not all the time.
Edit: I just found out that Manowar released a new album like, yesterday. I'll check it out, maybe.

Shining are great. V: Halmsted (or however it's spelled) is one of my favorite BM albums. I think Liturgy are good too, and that their debut > their second album.

Kvarforth gets a pass because he's a massive troll and everyone knows it.
