Rather interesting death metal band I came upon today. Lykathea Aflame. Still trying to wrap my head around that album. Can't tell what to think of it quite yet, really.

Can I help you? They're amazing.
That said, how can I reciprocate the courtesy?
Elvenefris is 2000, so I'll pick something similary old. Here you are, with some melodic black metal: ThySerpent

So, we're over midway through 2012. Any thoughts on (metal) releases this year? Here's my list and it is all black metal:
Best LP: Panopticon - Kentucky Best EP: Deathspell Omega - Drought Best Single: Ash Pool - Cremation is Irreversible Best Split: Ashdautas/Bone Awl Best Rerelease: Peste Noire - Les Démos Most Pleasant Surprise: Mondstille - Seelenwund Expectations Best Met: Brume d'Automne - Brume d'Automne Expectations Least Met: Sigh - In Somniphobia Autopilot Award for Excellency in Redundancy: Drudkh - Вічний Оберт Колеса (Eternal Turn of the Wheel)
Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
I'd say the best LP of 2012, and the one that best met my expectations, was Napalm Death's Utilitarian.
Expectations least met....toss up between Nile's At the Gates of Sethu and Kreator's Phantom Antichrist.

So I went to see Iron Maiden last night and it was magical. The set list was packed with favorites of mine, and just like the last time I saw them, I was very pleasantly surprised by the awesomeness of the live rendition of a song that I hadn't considered to be particularly strong in its album version (in this case "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son"). Maiden really do put on a spectacular show, and this one ranks up there with seeing Priest last Fall for the best concert I've ever seen. Alice Cooper was the supporting act, and what with all the theatrics and things that was also pretty fun. It's hard to compete with Maiden's stage show, but it's nice that it was at least made sporting.
Iron Maiden can't be fought.

Judging by the set lists here they've mostly been sticking to the old stuff. Even though it is technically the Illud Divinum Insanus tour, it seems to be more about damage control than actually selling the piece of crap record.

What a coincidence, I just saw them a couple hours ago myself. And yes. Very much yes.

I'm going to see them at the beginning of August. From this description, it sounds like it's going to be awesome. Not too much of an Alice Cooper fan, though. Maybe I'll arrive a bit late.

Holy Crap.
I was bored and needed new music to listen to, so I looked back through some of the recommendations you guys have given out recently. I ended up looking up the new Gojira album. I'd never heard of them before, but figured I'd try them out cuz their name was kinda cool.
They're freaking amazing. How have I never heard of them before? One of my new favorite bands. I already bought the new cd and The Way of all Flesh.
