Ferrying seems like a perfectly doable option. Apparently there's no penalty for climbing with a heavy load as long as it's within your limit, so you'd be able to take 10 on ferrying each character (assuming a rope harness or something would have to be fashioned for the canines).
lol. Time for an OOC catfight :P. Okay, decision time. I'm pretty suspicious of this door/wall thing, but I also think that it just might be a leftover thing from our big "oh wait we didn't go through the gate before retcon" that James decided to close up. Would anyone else be way better at figuring out this 'door'?
If we don't want to bother, let's just go to the caves and wrestle some grimlocks.
I promise I didn't retcon this area into anything different than what it was before (other than it no longer leading to Lomgrik's way out). That would be lame.
Or its a trick door, to make us get stuck on this platform past the water, and then get eaten by horrible things, which drop from the little holes I just sent Eyne to search.
Also can we assume that in the future, Valette will immediately begin questioning Eyne on what he saw after scouting (in non combat situations?), because I don't want to have to hold up the game by posting "Valette begins to quiz Eyne on what he saw."
Fair enough. I just wanted to give a chance for any other actions to be taken by the rest of the party first. I'm assuming that using a yes/no-based process of elimination to describe unseen areas wouldn't be quite as snappy as normal conversation.
Also, just took over for Tom again because his character is the only one in the party that could have found those buttons.
As far as you can tell, they're just buttons that are very, very well disguised. 'Use hand' should be sufficient if you want to try pressing any of them.
Would've been nice if we were all on the same side of the water. What's done is done. Oh god if darkmantles come out of the wall I'm going to lose my ****.
Now that Valette knows what to look for, could she find hidden buttons on her side? I doubt we are in a death trap since the triggering mechanism is secret, but if there are buttons on valette's side this might be a thoroughfare or something.

I'd give her a +2 circumstance bonus to find hidden buttons over there (if there are any! mwahahahaha) now that she knows such things might exist and she can look especially for them.
Back when I ferried Jacinth and Lomgrik across the water I also said that I had done the same for any other character that wanted to. Valette, since you want to be on the other side let's just say that I took you then, yes? If not I'll do it now. Anyone else?
My bad, I forgot about that! But for the interest of continuity lets say that Valette didn't go across earlier, and needs to go now. (Which gives time for her to do her search check).
Lorsdyn is in a small metal room. The door slams behind him, and will not open. In front of him are three simple levers in the wall.
Lorsdyn: I try up, down, down on the three levers, from left to right!
DM: Nothing happens.
L: Up, up, Down?
DM: nope.
L:Down, up, down.
DM: Nothing.
L: It's probably all up or something.
DM: ...
L: Or all down..
DM: which do you want to try?
L: All u- n.. down.. no.. yes. All down!
