You know, I was a bit disappointed about there not being a new page when I got up this morning, but now that it's finally up, totally worth the wait.

Actually I think it IS speaking literally and needs someone to do something like build up a static charge and give it a spark, perhaps to start a generation process. Trouble is, it's not being clear, and it might take Tarvek a while to figure out what's needed...

That is possible since the formal term for sparks is "The Gifted" but I'd like to take the more sinister formulation: in order to restart after a critical higher consciousness failure Der Kestle needs to be re-imprinted with the mind of a Spark. After all, there must be a reason why Faustus's mind was imprinted in the first one no?

There are lots of Sparks around, assuming that Gil & Tarvek can be kept away from the honor and sacrifice of such an upload... The only problems are 1) probably none of them can be trusted enough (would you trust Igneous Slaghammer or Cornelius Senear with running what amounts to your flagship? Mittelmind or any of the Kestle Sparks?) and 2) Faustus Heterodyne was (presumably) a full-blooded Heterodyne, which means an uber-Spark a la Baron Wulfenbach (trying to think of a single-family uber-Spark, and Baron Wulfenbach is the only one that comes to mind). One of the "lesser" Sparks may not be sufficient to control der Kestle. Here's hoping that it just needs extra charge.

...why not Baron Wulfenbach?
I mean, he's protected the world for MANY years, it would be a good way to force them to work together, and would remove him from his compromised body.

But would he be able to stand up to the psychological horror that is being the home of depraved maniacs? More importantly, could he stand watching generations of Heterodynes bringing their dates home?

I thought Faustus was the one who figured out the whole 'make the Castle sentient / mind imprinting' thing, so naturally he made his mind the basis of Der Kestle. I mean, who else? Who BETTER?
What they need to do is ask der Kestle WHERE it requires a spark (the font makes it hard to tell if that's capitalized in der Kestle's speech balloons or not). That might tell them what they need to know.

How is his compromised body different from that of der Kestle?
EDIT: Also I wouldn't be surprised if "I Require...A...Spark..." is a recording, which means asking where will get them jack squat.

He thinks Agatha is the Other. And frankly, his situation doesn't change much post-upload: He is subjected to the orders of a female Heterodyne Warlord-Spark, who will use him like a blunt instrument against those who would oppose her. The only things that change are that he is on the Side of Good (tm) and that he's essentially confined to Mechanicsburg. Given his preconceptions of the situation, it would be a step down.

Re: Girl Genius XIII: "Gott's Leedle Feesh in Trousers!"
Well, if it needs a spark (as in the Gift), it couldn't ask a better person than Agatha, whose specific talent is imparting the Gift in her inventions, as she has with the dingbots.
