I'm sure there are plenty of small power sources that would be no use for the castle but which could be used to recharge the stick.

Nah, im thinking its a demand for surrender, which in reality is just yet another delaying tactic on the part of the baron. "You have 8 hours to surrender or the ram comes back!"

That would certainly be an effective way to subvert The Other's orders if he could pull it off, but if she's anywhere near close enough to give new orders it would be too blatant a tip-off, and we don't know the wording of her orders and how much wiggle room that gives him. If he can do it, though, it could go a long way towards convincing his top underlings that something's wrong with his behavior.

Just the fact that he isnt dropping his full weight on agatha should be setting off huge warning flares for his people, if not lucrezia herself. They KNOW that the heterodyne needs to be stomped flat right the hell now if he wants any hope of keeping the empire from flying apart. The fact that he has been "testing" her with slowly increasing force should be confusing the hell out of them.

Nonsense. "His people" (the ones that count anyway) have been told exactly what he wants, and "stomping the Heterodyne flat" isn't it. She is an invaluable speciman, and must be studied. Smashing Mechanicsburg can only stiffen their resolve, and eventually get her killed and made into a martyr. He wants and needs to convince her to surrender herself to protect them (as she did at Sturmhalten), and them to let her do it.
The Baron holds the Empire not by terror, but by consensus. As Gil points out to Tarvek, he's hard, but fair, and the alternatives are worse. He needs to preserve that impression. Or at least, that's what he wants them to think. It may even be true.

On the other hand, I offer the sage words of a cat Every moment he spends NOT obliterating the heterodyne or gaining total victory, the rest of europa smells weakness.

Which is bigger in this case, though? Look at the scale compared to the chap on the donkey next to him--Franz is easily twice this guy's size, so this shouldn't even be a contest.

Keep in mind that this dragon is a clank with all sorts of neat toys on him. Size may not be the deciding factor here. Franz is pretty much a draconic bludgeon. Nothing fancy, just, "I SAID REJOICE!" /smash.

It's not clear to me if he's a clank or just wearing a lot of armor. Franz, on the other hand, appears to have dials implanted along his flanks and the sides of his head. I can't guess what that means.
And Agatha is still toying with the idea of saving Mechanicsburg by giving herself up...

...I'm just imagining him doing like the guy from 2000 AD and turning up a dial, and then SMASH.

It's nice to see the "S is for sucks" dragon get some work after The Brothers Chaps stopped updating. He's certainly got the fundamentals of burninating all the peasants in their thatched roofed filthy cottages hovels down.

Yeah, well either the perspective is different, or the gate was a lot bigger before. A lot fancier, too, but that might have been a different gate.

Sure they are, they just treat them like Babylon 5 Star Furies. Things move grow at the speed size of plot expressions and funny little background stuff.
