I wonder how often you get that bonus to wisdom; even if it's only twice a century, that'd give Biscuit around 20 wisdom, wouldn't it?
Since we now know that his stats did increase during his imprisonment, I have to wonder if he gained levrld for all of his escape attempts during that period. Unsuccessful as they might be, he should have still got credit for trying and even modest amounts of role-playing experience points that are constantly being gained over centuries should make him a top-tier character in a world as low-powered as Goblins is.
I'll throw out a guess here: the cliff's edge is hid by an illusion.

He really invested ranks in intimidation, didn't he?

Look at the third-to-last panel; it's a cliff which they dumped all the non-goblin slaves off of.
I'm liking Biscuit more and more all the time.
it looks that way to me too, but i assumed the path was past or around it, if it IS just a cliff (which i called, just saying) their being a bit blase about it.since we know from earlier he can take all the goblins there.

Aye. I mean, nobody's reacting like they're at the edge of a path-less pit. If they were, Biscuit would, y'know, say that "there's no path", rather than "this path in front of me isn't safe because you lied".
Well, on the plus side, this monster will probably only kill Biscuit once.
My guess is that it's called a "switchbeast" because it reveals its claws much like a switchblade.

We've spent too many strips on Biscuit, he's been named and everything. I'm gonna say he lives.

Sort of like Chief?

Nah, he hasn't had enough face time for it to be dramatic yet.
If that switchbeast gets hold of Biscuit, there won't be enough face left to have any time - I count ~19 blades on that appendage which just went 'click click thwoom'.
Because if there's one thing you let your enemy do while you have them surrounded and they just announced being responsible for the death of your son...it's monologue?
Actually, I would make a wacky face and say comical lines like "Um...ooookay."

Me too. If I was about to order someone to be killed and they came out with that little speech, it would derail my train of thought so hard I'd be all "O.o what, now?"

Another thing, this trap seems plain sadistic. If you don't intend for them to leave alive, just execute them. Tricking them into thinking they're free is just extra work and mean.
