About this Nexus, I am as curious as Silvar. What is this looking like? Some sort of ring with symbols detailing your destination? A roiling mess of plasma energy? A doorway, only visible to gods and those with the spark? It should be noted, some sort of failsafe should be put on the Nexus, in at least an attempt to keep out some of the others with divine/pseudodivine sparks.
To Ladorak: Finally got up a reply, along with some insight into Vanara's thinking/views. She is technically right -- they have not killed beyond those two instances, though they are beginning to become more adept at rune-crafting.
Succubus: A city of nature spirits will probably go up soon, with several posts detailing its innerness, but it should be quite interesting, especially concerning the creatures and the magic of those living within. Oh, nature spirits refers to the killoren-like creatures established by Aramar in his ascension quest.

*snaps fingers* Darn, I'd hoped they'd be Twilight Spirits.
My idea for the Nexus has changed somewhat since its initial conception but its core is the same. The basic idea is that we enter the nexus walk a bit and then come out at a point much farther than the distance traveled in the nexus would indicate.
We will be spending a ceremony to create a realm called The Nexus, this realm exists within its own pocket dimension. In order to reach the Nexus one must create a gateway which connects to a specific spot in the Nexus(I will make one right off the bat). Gateways exist in both the disc and the Nexus simultaneously. These gateways cost one major act to create and whose appearance/size is determined by the creator. You can have any type of transition you desire from star gate like portal to star trek beaming. But the gateway has to be fairly stationary, no hitching it to the back of a wagon or anything.
For example the gate Haramhold creates will be a large stone arch with runes of power tracing its frame. The gateway has a smooth transition between Salus and the Nexus (Basically its the transition that the portals in Portal use). If you enter the "front" of the gateway you will exit the "back" on the other side, and visa versa.
Now the gates do not have to resemble anything like this, an alternative example could be that the gate is a tree and that you enter/exit the Nexus via the shadow the tree casts on the ground.
The Nexus itself is a series of islands floating at various altitudes in an empty void. These islands are connected by a series of bridges to 1-3 others. The islands are small no more than a mile or two in diameter. Each island is a blank slate, kind of like the unexplored areas of the disc, whoever gets there first gets to describe what its like. For example it could be mountainous or a tropical island or a ball of pure water. what matters is that there is a navigable bridge connecting it to the rest of the Nexus.
The void the Nexus hangs in is not infinite in the sense the real life universe is. It "bends" into self, essentially if you pick any random direction and travel perfectly straight with no deviations you will eventually find yourself where you started. Its not like walking on the surface of a sphere, when I mean perfectly straight I mean zero curvature. A good example would be if I dropped a penny off the side of one of the islands, and kept my hand out I would eventually catch the penny as it fell from the sky.
The main advantage of the Nexus is that it turns a trip of several hundred thousand miles into one of a couple dozen at most. Once other gateways have been constructed we will be able to travel extremely quickly and safely between our civilizations. It will also allow our civilizations to trade and mingle amongst each other.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Alright, so we can't hitch it onto a wagon or anything, but what about a mobile Divine Sanctum? Would the magical mojo that courses through it allow for a Portal to lie ontop of it? Or do they have to stay exactly where they are at all times.
Also, I'm assuming you can destroy these gateways like you would any other thing (Ex: That tree portal could be burned down, the stone portal could have it's cornerstone removed etc etc).

I'm still alive I swear, I'm just waiting for somebody to tell me that I'm allowed to post my ascension in the IC. Either that or tell me to get out and never show my face around this thread again. You know, one or the other.

Dude, if you've been accepted into the game and you've got an ascension primed and ready, nothing but yourself is stopping you from posting.

Go forth and make a new God.
No, you see, I only got permission to post in the OOC and get feedback on the character itself. Also, I haven't quite written the Ascension yet, mostly because I don't want to just assume that I made it in.
It's Dark's call on whether you can start posting IC, but as far as I'm concerned, Invidia is creepy.
Creepy and ready.
Jongo, by the way, will probably find Invidia incredibly repulsive.
Gengy, on the other hand, is looking forward to it! Have you picked out a chat color yet?
Also, on my own part, sorry for the lack of post. What I'm crafting now is taking time, and since it will be the new Sea of Jongo, I care about getting it right!

"What-the-Jongo?"
Before you insult someone, walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, you'll be a mile away, and have their shoes!

That's fine, normally when I see you taking a bit I either assume it's a great post or something really cool (Ala Gencon) is in the way.

Thank you very much! Also, I was thinking Olive. Nobody else is using it, and I need to have some shade of green to fit with the theme.

Kasanip: now is an auspicious time for ceremonies.
Ok, thank you! I hope it can be enjoyed by Raz_Fox.

Ok, I am curious to continue. Somehow it is the feeling TheDarkDM will make Sonata to use some acts to counter. So please tell me if there is such a judgement value to think about.
Blargh I am the worst at keeping up with up this. Anyways, I'm reading the backlog and getting a post ready. Don't expect anything too fancy, though. I'll try and let you get somewhere where you can interact with gods who actually reply in a timely manner, TechnO. -_-;;

Oh, wow, Contragh's lieutenant guy has been to Llassar's place! And Contragh knows about his still being alive and running a country thing!
*Shock*
Stuff could happen later, involving things. Yaaayyyy~
Yup. And Contragh isn't sure if Llassar is capable of running a country effectively, it's one of the many reasons Louis is so high up. Knowledge is power.

I've found a halfway sympathetic motivation for the volcano spirit, so I'll write the ascension posts for Tell quite soon!
However, I'm concerned after this line from the black sand/possessed Kalandor during the 'Darkness upon the Olm' storyline.

This comes from page 15 of the IC (corresponding to page 35 of the first OOC), posted back at the end of March.
I dislike use of a rape threat to illustrate how horrible a villain is and provide a chance for the characters to heroically intervene, but more generally, I'm extremely uncomfortable with use of rape and the threat of rape in RPGs. Because of that, could I ask if rape comes up again, at least as far as people can remember?
Not that I know of. As far as I can remember only the Dark Sand made that threat. I know I haven't posted anything of that caliber (I mean, I talk about killing and such, but that's to be expected in a game of gods and heroes).
Noted.

The game does draw from a mixture of real life and mythology (Originally Greek mythology if I remember correctly, which is just a freaking stew of incest) so things that happen in life are present, though their scale depends on the severity of them. War is a very prominent thing, it's a terrible thing, but it is not quite on the personal scale of horror as other things and thus has less limits on it. Albeit there are limits to this (I wouldn't say, go into detail about how Contragh rips someone apart or I could imagine Nieve skirting the border of gore).
The only scene that I can think of that might be less then Family friendly is Khalen-hets journey into the disk's version of hell (Even then I didn't find it to be too graphic). But that's to be a bit expected, it's hell we're talking about here. The land of the lost and the damned.
Edit: And I believe the "Assuming Direct Control" joke means just that, Dark was assuming direct control of Kalandor as a character. He was no longer a PC, but a story plot piece for the time being. Unless I read that corresponding part wrong.

Thanks, that's a relief to know. (Just to be clear, I would have withdrawn from the game if rape became a recurring theme.)
For the record, that was the Black Sand, the Susurrus, the Puppeteer. I don't think it was referring to rape in the sense of sexual assault so much as in the sense of deep violation related to commandeering the body of an individual for its sinister ends.

I linked the OOC just for context, I didn't mean to suggest that meme was problematic.
I should emphasise that this isn't an objection to dark themes and grimdark in general, just specifically to rape. But now people have said that it doesn't come up again, I'm happy to let it drop.

Just a heads up then, Uluuvatar might head into uncomfortable territory for you, though it never goes so far as rape. Also, that's likely to be the last time we go that far in that direction, so smooth sailing from now on.

Okay then... Now watch as I return in three months with an epic tale of psychotic deeds at the hands of Inved... until he renames himself Invidia. At least we'll see the return of Atraxal. I love that character. Still contemplating killing him off. might take a poll on that. oh god, I just realized that I've been free associating on my computer. I don't really want to stop. I might get some good ideas. I know how I want it to end, and I know that I'm going to start it immediately after the end of the character backstory, but how to get to each point is the hard part. I'll listen to my music. 3/4's time. A waltz. A dance. no. Inved doesn't dance. Inved isn't serious enough. He's not a hero, nor a villain. probably a villain. He's trying to find Atraxal. No, Atraxal is pursuing him, trying to find him for payment. Kills his father. Good opening. Not very envious though. envious of whom. Who is left. Envious of Atraxal's power. interesting Idea. Could lead to a cool concept. cat and mouse game. Inved hunting Atraxal hunting Inved hunting Atraxal and so on and so forth. maybe something like that. Atraxal is killed, skin worn by Inved? nah, too cliche. Atraxal reveals true form, possesses Inved. Psychological battle. Worthy of greatness? maybe. Could be more original, psycho battles are so common in literature. Inved lock onto someone. adores them. loves them. wants to become them. Who? Atraxal. No. New character. Girl maybe. No, stupid. Love interests ruin a story. Fake it. Fake emotion acting. a play. Theatre work. Inved's an actor. Is envious of his character's lives. wants to become his characters. become's attached to one character in particular. doesn't get the part. murders cast member. Atraxal arrives for payment. Payment is one body a year, or Inved's own. One body a month. No, to Little shop. Might do that. I like that Idea. How does Inved become an actor? Sees a play. becomes attached. Atraxal needs bodies. For what? Eating? Using them to build something horrible? Nah, too mass effect 2. Still free associating on a thread. neat feeling. resisting urge to fix spelling and grammar. more story. stay on track keep focused flowers for algernon. that popped in my head. I don't know why. By god I'm still typing this. More story arcs. needs to be long. needs to be epic. Interseting, I"ve forgotten to think of the greatest epic of all time, The Odyssey. Should I take concepts. Odysseus might be too much of a hero. Lots of sailing as well. The Cyclops must be tricked. A green eyed monster. Othello. Invidia is Envy in Latin. I've created other characters based on sin. I like sin. It's an interesting concept, as what naturally predisposes us to view sin as sin, is it religion. wait, gotta stay away from religion, dont want anyone to get mad. I think I should stop now.
Someone has been munching on Jongo peppers, methinks...
It's funny that the two of you mention Rumel because I'd also quite like to find the Mechanic, although for a considerably different purpose to what you have in mind. >:)
