•Torvaag might have known the volcano spirits in ancient times - it would be really cool to have a visit, perhaps passing through to visit an old friend on the way to someplace else, if you're up for that Grimsage Matt
Sounds good ter me. I'll think of something.

Just a couple of minor things that need to be addressed nothing huge
1) Salus is not by the sea, it is actually a few hundred miles inland. It does border a river that flows to the sea from the mountains where the crystal cave is located.
2) To Jongo, you don't need to change anything but it should be noted that the people of Salus rarely if ever leave the Realm. Since you need Haramhold's permission to re-enter it would be an enormous hassle. This has consequently made the Salusians a sheltered people, the realm has protected them for 50 years, people have been born and have died in the realm never knowing the dangers of the disc. This will be noticeable to those of other civ's, and this trait will continue and will grow over time. There will be exceptions of course those who travel outside the realm, but the majority of the population will over time fail to grasp the dangers of the disc.
3) Silvar needs to respond about whether or not he's seen Rumel, after that I will narrate the journey to Salus and describe the scenery and whatnot. Then there will be several "days" of interaction working on nexus what have you, then we will fetch the messengers and be off to get those who need to be picked up.
4) correct me if I miss anyone but this is the list of pc's going to help with the nexus
Jongo
The Weaver
Silvar/Amar
Frellon
Carolinus
5) Currently there are several messengers waiting at the gates of Salus. I propose that they all arrive at the gates at roughly the same time thus if anyone wants they can have some amusing interactions between them as they wait. O and for all of those delivering a written message can you send it via OOC or pm so that when Haramhold gets to the messengers we won't have to wait for a response from the players to speed things along.
6) To Kassinip, I love your poetry and your songs. Their quality needs no improvement. Melos is the first song, but first does not mean best perhaps Sonata could create a better song and thus defeat him. You wouldn't have to actually write another song, your work thus far has proven your composition skills past question after this little forced adventure narrate a sequence of Sonata composing and kick that OP NPC off this high horse.

Whoops, my bad. Will fix now.

Carolinus
Carolinus is coming? Gosh, this is going to be a pleasant chat...
Carolinus: ...So, about those Vampires you left in my city...
Silvar: Errrr...oops?
6) To Kassinip, I love your poetry and your songs. Their quality needs no improvement. Just to add to this, I think it would be an ultimate proof that Sonata is the unquestioned goddess of music. Put it this way -- Melos is Baz'Auran's best attempt at music. If you defeat him, how much better does that make you? How much superior is the Disk now, with us as gods, than it was before?
Plus, I would be really sad if you were to burn out. Your poetry is unquestionably better than mine, even as a native speaker of English. Keep going, for the sake of the rest of us!
A couple of additional comments.
Bryn, I do believe that it has been established that spirits cannot survive on the Disk -- but you say they turned themselves into volcanos? How does that work? Are they still sentient? Can they still talk? What manner of spirits are/were they? Just some thoughts to help you write.
Ladorak, now you're making me question my own moral beliefs! Hm, I'll/Silvar will have to think of some good justifications by the time Carolinus arrives. Though I do have one question -- My impression of Carolinus' justice system was that he sentenced people to hard labor to become better people. Now, I may have just totally invented that, but your post gives the impression that Carolinus personally kills each person that violates his single law (which, if I remember correctly, is harm not thy neighbor). Is this correct?

Spoiler
Hmm, that's a good point. Perhaps they became volcanoes for the sake of surviving the perils of the Disk, or perhaps I should have them come from somewhere else. The White City backstory definitely isn't a necessary part of this story! It probably doesn't need to be addressed: "there are volcano spirits, end of".
As for how it worked: well, 'they set to work crafting themselves bones of andesite', duh.
If I keep the White City backstory, the Owl is going to be a Spirit of Knowledge, tasked with remembering the millions of animal species that Baz'Auran had placed on the Disk.
The extent to which the volcanoes can now interact with the world will be established in the story, but (inspired by Gullstruck Island) I've been trying to keep my descriptions on a line where our modern understanding of subduction zone volcanoes and the story about spirits can both be accurate descriptions. So if I mention lavas, they're rhyolite and andesite; when there's an eruption, it's plinean; there are lava domes and so on. But at the same time, the volcanoes have the personalities ascribed to them which reasonably describe their behaviour, and you can converse with a volcano (as Tell will discover).
Tell is going to meet one of the volcanoes (the Owl) in-person as part of her ascension quest. My original plan was for this to be a giant bird made of fire - a bit like the way the Mother at the Olm takes a human form as well as being a river, but with a 'birds everywhere' spin. But I'm considering having the volcano spirits literally be volcanoes, i.e. Tell will end up talking to a rock. Jongo and Torvaag have spoken to rocks. Probably best to go with the former, since in that case it makes sense for a volcano to abandon its duty. Volcanic eruptions are, in either case, going to be displays of emotion.
Keeping this spoilered to restrict clutter. I'm moving towards the IC posts, I'm not just going to write endlessly about volcanoes!
I can see that working, we have a precedent of spirits of the white city surviving on the disc. As a rule they cannot but the ones who do must take some sort of extraordinary and not always friendly means to do so. They could simply be spirits who bound themselves to the earth and became volcanoes in order to survive.

I see, a simple misunderstanding, I shall edit the post. My assumption that Salus was on a shoreline stemmed from when the Kraken's storm was laying waste to Salus that one time. Apparently the storm was simply that friggin HUGE.
...What other messangers? I totally missed them in the IC thread.
Roll Call! Who has messangers at Salus's Gates!?
I sent 6 orunta spirits.
Thank you for your response, TheDarkDM and shorewood and Demidos. This spoiler is my response.

Thank you for assurance about Music domain. Maybe it is said [and as soon as you care to claim it it's yours.] so maybe the feeling is that I am stopping myself. Probably that is true, but because I was trying to respect such a narrative that is being told.
I don't think it is situation of TheDarkDM to stop from to claim music. It is situation of always bad timing because of other situation. That is to say, it is the narrative that stops this. I tried to make a coordinate several times in PM or through posting with Raz_Fox or TheDarkDM about plans because I wanted to avoid this kind of problem. But every-time somehow it happens.
It was realized also maybe there are some other misunderstandings. It is said many times [of the disk]. But being children of Baz'Auran, Sonata and her siblings are also [of the moon]. Understanding a little about some enemy like Melos, they are [of the outside], or something like this.
It is more of a curious question, because it seems maybe there is a different meaning I don't understand. When it is said [become the Disk's personification of music], is it to ignore such a [moon] meaning? Maybe such a question is, if the children returned to the moon, are they not deities anymore?
Like I tried to explain, image for me was [concept] to [reality] to survive such a fall. Is it reverse, too? Or was it a different meaning to not be [become the moon's personification of music]?
Quote:
Also, while I continue to fail in fully expressing this, he is not the personification of all song, just the First Song.
Actually this is very good to know. Suddenly it is not so oppressive. It is impossible for Sonata to disagree and reject [all song], but can oppose the [first song].

Thank you very much for your kind words. I don't think in such a narrative it will be easy like this, but such a thing should be tried. I think it is idea of TheDarkDM such a villain to be problem for sometime.

Thank you for your kind words and advice. However, I think Melos isn't from Baz'Auran, but to come from [outside].
Yes, my problem is to burn out of such a writing. Seeing always such a writing of this game, it is the feeling [I must do my best] always.
I was despaired very hard about trying to succeed at the song writing. Now it is also very different direction for Sonata, I don't know what to write for Sonata. But I hope that somehow idea or inspiration comes after to read more about Melos.
But for a little time, to take slowly and relaxingly, and try to enjoy to write.

A different idea, because Rainbows are of Sonata, Fox messengers run across rainbows to deliver messages. If to use wind theme, a meeting is possible I think in such a way.
I don't think it was said, so I am sorry. But I like this character.
Now that you have your first taste of Oraș, perhaps some will reconsider?
Eh... I'd still rather not. I wouldn't mind that due to the similarity in powers that the boundary between Oras and the Twilight is closer and not as strong, more permeable, but still holding Twilight as its own entity.
Ladorak, now you're making me question my own moral beliefs! Hm, I'll/Silvar will have to think of some good justifications by the time Carolinus arrives. Certainly not my intention to make you question your beliefs! Speaking for myself I hold no fault in this manner of... (Actually not sure what you'd call it, crime fighting? Social engineering?) but Carolinus... well he's a different matter. He deals in absolutes, black and whites.
And yes, that's Markien's law in a nutshell. Do no harm, or the big man will come get you. 'Death by my hand' is a bit of a misnomer, the Wardens are the hand of Carolinus. They are responsible for 'policing' and investigation and, if Carolinus is unavailable, execution. He prefers to do the deed himself, see Eddard Stark as to motivation for that, but even gods can't be everywhere.
Markien's law system is thus very simplistic, but fairly effective. The Warden's truth sense means that, assuming complaint is made, the guilty are usually identified. In RL I could wax lyrical about how the death penalty is not a deterrent, but I figure the threat of death made by a god would carry more weight.
Please don't take Carolinus' rejection of Vanara to heart. I want to do a plot arc regarding the Cult of Het, and I wanted to have the tribes dis-unified to give Carolinus something to do during the 100 odd years of playtime he's missed out because I was away. The rejection allows for both of these. That we get to have a confrontation when Silvar and Carolinus' paths next cross is just icing

If Weaver or Silvar decide to explore the city I'll add a sequence of greater description for them. I would like to ask a favor from TheChanger. As you explore the city you will notice a lack of fresco's, no paintings, no stained windows, no tapestries, exta. These things are not of Haramhold's interest so he has not taught his people such skills therefore while Salus is great in its strength of architecture it is not grand. If it would please you could The Weaver spend a minor act to basically teach them art?

Hmmm...I think that's good. Yeah. It isn't Wild Magic, as it doesn't ask for help. It isn't Faden's magic, as it isn't directly controlled by Will, though it does bring power from Desire. It's something else. A bringing of Dream into the real world, through the dreamer. It's art in its rawest form. Exactly the sort of magic The Weaver would make.
And now it's all over Salus. Like glitter.

Hey everyone. I've been talking with theDarkDM and he agreed to let me join in. So I decided I'd throw this guy into the mix. Let me know what you all think.
Name: Gaelus
Titles: White Wind
Domain: Wind
Abilities: Divine Athletics, Elemental Mastery (Air)
Themes: Fury of the Wind, Freedom of the Skies
Description: A god that fines true joy in his power. The memories of his fall from mortality is etched into every moment of his divine life. His strength is the wind that fell against his chest, his voice the song of the wind as it ripped past his ears, and his will the strength that defied gravity and wrapped him in sky.
Gaelus is a god of independence, exploration and determination. He is kind enough to those who do not seek to oppress the rights of others, and favors those who take life into their own hands. His totem animal is the eagle, and his symbol is a comet cutting across a cloud.
In his human form, he appears as a tall man with olive skin, shoulder length dark hair, and determined features.
Name: Revblenum
Titles: Blood Lord, Tender of the Poison Vines
Domain: Vengeance
Themes: Drunken God, Sacrificial Deity
Abilities: Blood Lust, Blood Curse
Description: Revblenum dresses in the regal finery of his homeland, most of which is stained dark red from wine and blood. A circlet of grape vines is placed neatly over his brow. If it weren't for his rather mad expression, he could be called quite handsome. His hair is dark and of medium long length. He sports a thick circle beard and pronounced eyebrows. His skin matches the olive tone of his homeland, and his brown eyes turn red when consumed with bloodlust.
There was once a time when he was a good man, but the pain of his loss has driven much of that from his soul, and he is now a dark arbiter of vengeance. As a mortal he was known as Gared King of the City of Argen. His current name bestowed upon him by the whispers of fearful townsfolk after the events of the Red Feast.

Ah. "Wind" was the domain I had in mind for my character, Tell, when she joins the game in a few days (hopefully). That can change - her concept isn't tied directly to that domain - but it would require some rethinking and rewriting to build towards something else.

I will sit down and write an awesome (of variable quality) post tomorrow for Kasanip. Because I really, really want to produce something worthy for her.
Spoiler
Good news: I finished the Mass Effect series, so productivity is skyrocketing.
Bad news: I am doing NaNoWriMo Lite, which involves writing at least, like, 500+ words on a story every day. I am probably not getting 50,000 words here guys
Good news: I'm actually producing stuff, and remembering just how gosh darn fun writing things is when I'm in the zone, and not stressed, and not worried about fitting things into other players' continuities and a whole darn bunch of world details because I am running everything. I was made to write.
Bad news: hey, are these "finals" things hard? I dunno, I was homeschooled.
