As a thought, I'd have imagine primative cultures sacrificing young men to Nieve, rather than maidens.
*snrk* Oh, both would be best, I think. Nieve is very egalitarian that way.
Actually... in a way, you could say that sending young men off to be soldiers is a sacrifice to the goddess of war. I'll have to use that sometime later on.

They first appeared on the southern continent, but they spread by a) traveling through the Quiet Lands, where distance is shorter, and b) dying and being reborn somewhere else. So yeah, by the time the present turn rolls around you could conceivably find them anywhere.

Never heard of it before, however some editing might be useful (I know some edits I would like to do.)
That, and I would have to drop my mini tittles, unless we did it as a group of mini-stories, with some group stories.
Might give me a reason to elaborate some of Kalandor's off screen adventures.
To avoid harming the sanity of the DM I can no longer:
* Cast flesh to stone on a annoying Druid
** Cast Rock to mud on a Druid statue
*** Scoop mud into little ceramic pots
**** Plant tree's in individual ceramic pots
***** Claim that I have helped them become one with nature
Considering your great instability, why not an amulate/token/other that grants control over your constant shifting, and possibly also you mindscape? ((I think it would be very useful, judgeing by what happened to Kalandor))
((Or maybe get it as a skill, like Nieve/Snark)).

So I am officially the most prolix writer in the game? Sweetness.
(Also, my artifact was the Amulet. A bit of a wandering artifact, that.)

As a side note, the Artifact gained by The Weaver during his ascension was Reavew-na's Eye.
Added these artefacts. (I included Fayruz's post 10 because it had the artefact, then forgot to put the artefact in the table :\ )
TechnOkami, I couldn't find a post from Dark saying 'Jethro gains the calculus of variations domain' or the like, but if I missed it, please say and I'll fix the table! (I may have counted some post-ascension posts by mistake as a consequence of missing that post).
It looks like I also missed Saluko's domain, that's been fixed now too. mystic, I can't find a writeup of Saluko's collar, does one exist yet?

The precise count is 172129, or 3.44 NaNoWriMo novels and about 0.3 War and Peaces. Further statistics:
Average words in a completed ascension quest: 6900±3400
Average posts in a completed ascension quest: 6.6±4.3
Average words per post: 1150±690

Hm... now that I think about it, I never did get DarkDM's official word that I gained the Twilight Domain. I just sort of assumed that I got it once I obtained Avyra's spark. Hey Dark, did I actually get the Twilight Domain, or do I have more God Journeying to do?
The rumbling of the earth is ominous in it's echoes of terrible tremors. From deep within the darkness, a lone cry can be heard as the shaking - the horrible, unworldly shaking - finally stops:
"I Liiiiiiiivvvvvveee!"
----------
Apologies for my absence. Reality - that poor excuse for non-attentiveness - got in the way.
I should hopefully have Contragh and Jongo up and back in action tomorrow. Friday night at the latest.
Also.
Bryn.
By all that was once holy about saturday morning cartoons, just how much time have you spent analyzing this story?
I thought I was going overboard with my regular Map updates, but wow. Just. Wow.
I'm excited to see Tell in game.

Before you insult someone, walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, you'll be a mile away, and have their shoes!
Not to mention your absence has forced me to postpone my surprise a bit, but all's well. Just gave me a bit more time to think it over and fine tune it. I await your reply, oh Lord of Chaos.
Edit: Also, just reading over the posts in the IC I have a few comments:
Murder Saints: I like the idea, gleeful reincarnating killers is a cool idea and can definetely mesh in the world easily (not to mention it's a good tool for others to use aswell)
Ouran: I like the current tone your setting of "Change for teh lulz" with ouran and the shifting history of what he's done (Which to be honest is how real history is like and how history would be like were it not for ageless beings of divine power slapping the authors hand and going "NO! It didn't happen like that!" But then you have people like Contragh who would want to edit certain things and..... That's a thought for another day)
Llasser's feast for the gods: I keep reading it, and every time I do I just keep thinking of the Canterbury Tales; Divine Edition. Hopefully there won't be a miller.....

Tell's first ascension post is complete except for music links (I couldn't find anything that worked, I'd appreciate suggestions ) and any corrections or advice which people want to add.
I really hope this is decent.
The rest of the development of the ascension quest will concern the source of the storms and require Tell to make a journey across the island to reach the seafaring people of the Village in Caves, then come back to sort out the problems of the volcanoes which led to the storms, and in some way unite the disparate people of the island. There may be a volcanic eruption, because how can you not when you have a volcano setting, but I'm now leaning more towards 'Tell must force a volcano to erupt' than 'a volcano surprisingly erupts'.
I should say again here: this post concerns a destructive storm. Since a real-life hurricane has recently hit the USA and Carribean, I want to warn anyone who doesn't want to read about that; if the 'content note' isn't really enough, please tell me so I can abandon this plotline and try something else (I am totally happy to do that!)
Comments
Spoiler
I moved away from the 'it's not clear that the volcanoes are sapient' style and went for straight-up 'the Owl talks'. I also dropped 'flightless birds that resemble moa and emus' for simply 'moa and emus'. The birds on the island are plucked from all over the world, with the excuse that these are simply the most familiar local birds to compare with fictional Disk species in translation; I've given no consideration to whether they form a plausible ecosystem.
Since it will now be apparent that there's definitely a mild time-travel communication element, I should emphasise that I'm not expecting it to reveal plot secrets in advance (unless Dark wants a foreshadowing device) as it's unreliable and doesn't necessarily give a unique answer (which will make the asynchronous conversations even more confusing). (Alternative interpretation: all time travel is imaginary; in fact the Owl predicted the storm from seeing it far-off; the asynchronous conversations are invented by the participants.)
I hope the speaking characters so far have had reasonably distinct voices.
I've been quite unrealistic about the amount of activity a person can do without tiring. In Tell's case, I hope this is acceptable for reasons of 'she will totally ascend to be a goddess' but I also had the narrator walk all day and then run off to help the canoe crews. I never stated exactly how many people died of exposure, but it's probably not treated realistically. I haven't done my research on how people actually survive storms without modern building technology, so if I've written something grossly inaccurate, I'll welcome being called out.
The same goes for any failures of research in the depiction of the physical processes in the storm .
I got hit by the storn pretty bad, and i'm okay with the post. It's an aspecr of nature, I can't tell you to completely avoid a topic that is very basic to the game (AKA Nature). I like it so far, the writing style seems to fit a god of freedom and movement (I'm also a sucker for air based transportation, which was the saddest part for me about having a character in the stone age). Good so far.
Also, new fact of the day. Tell is a girl. Tell just sounded masculine to me (And I can't recall you mentioning her gender so I just defaulted it to what I thought it sounded like). The more you know I guess.

Yes, there will be a miller. And the miller is you, Contragh.

(1) What is the text color that you will be using to speak in?
Jongo spoke, "I always talk in Sienna."
(2) Roughly where on the Disk are you right now?
(3) Do you have a home town or city or village or other landmark that you want added to the map? If yes, will you be describing and building upon this area? The more descriptive you get -- the more Acts you spend, the more power in the area -- the more likely I will be to add more then just a name. I keep meaning to make the Olm and Markien a bit more, and haven't found time, lol.
(4) Have you heard of the Gods (PC) before, and if yes, what is your opinion on them? If no, why not?
Tell will speak in "#93004C" in the human language and "#93004C Book Antiqua" in the language of owls.
Let's put Tell's island around here:
Spoiler
Please can Tell's island be added to the map? I should give it a name, but marking the name on the map can wait until it's a bit more developed IC.
Almost no humans or birds on the island has heard of the gods, but I may use some divine actors such as Jongoscion, cultists of Het or murder saints if the story calls for them at any point and the relevant players are OK with it. The volcano spirits may have met Torvaag.
I talked with Snark about refugees of hers from some disaster arriving on the island before Revblenum ascends, so ideally close to wherever that was, and more south/north to bring it closer to the equator. It's a spec on that map, about half the size of Japan.
Revblenum will speak in the aggressive tones of #CC0000. Assuming of course dark red is as popular as always.
The city of Revblenum's ascension will indeed be expanded upon later, as will the island. But I'll let you know once that's actually been done.
And so far Rev has only heard of Nieve from her refugees, and has yet to meet the other gods.

Oh, Murder "Saints" pestering mah people? *eeeeeeeeevil grin* I now know what my next post is gonna be about.
Oh, we should play that out if you're gonna confront one. Murdersaints are always up for a little philosophical discourse before they start killing people!
Plus, they'll be very interested to meet the new god of Death.

Actually, I think it's open (someone was using it, but I haven't seen him around in a long while). Crimson, on the other hand, is taken.

I don't think they'll like me, once they know my views on Death.
I tried, I really did, but even a great necromancer as I cannot raise back what never died. As in I can't quote you giving him a domain because you didn't (I traveled back 14 pages and didn't find it, I doubt going back 14 more will reveal it). Well, might as well give it to him now.

Just a note: I don't expressly remember that, DM. However, I distinctly do not remember gaining the Twilight domain from you either, so I guess I have some more Ascension Questing [but first, the Killing Saint people].
I remember giving Jethro the Death domain, can't quite remember the post.
The Domain Hath Been Given.
So hath it been written.
So mote it be.
...even if I never remember it happening either.
As for Tell. Wow. Nice start! I'm looking forward to more
I'll do what I can to add the island to the map. I've tried not to add actual land masses yet because it never turns out right, but with something that small, it shouldn't be a big deal.
"Tell's Island" or "Island of Tell" actually sounds like a good name, in my opinion. If you can't think of a better one, Jongo would be happy to give it a Name (capital "N") to help me move forward again with the Name domain that I'm slowly working on!
As to my promised major post?
It's on it's way! Tychris is a huge part of it, so he gets a say in the final draft. Once approval happens, I'll get it up, and you can see what we've been working on.
Done!
Oh, and here's the quote that I used to pitch the idea to Dark. Posting it here, so you guys have a better idea about the Chaos Realm.
Quote:
Anyone who comes in peace to the Sea of Jongo will find it calm and very restful. Just like it's always been.
But if they become far too angry, or start to have feelings towards conquest of this peaceful place, they will find themselves shunted to the other realm. A darker realm. A realm where the elements are anything but peaceful, and there are great big Snaggle-tooth Revenant Megoladons everywhere, just roaming the waters, looking for something - anything - living.
In this darker realm, chaos reins, in it's most free and terrifying form. Only the Master and/or Mistress of Chaos and also the Divine Conqueror are able to hold sway over the horrors found within; the former through the knowledge of how to flow through the chaos, and the latter by the sheer force of imposing his will and order upon the realm.

Now that interests me greatly, Gengy. If you recall Khalen's very first visit to the Disk, it was an area very much like that that he lost her in. It's extremely cool that there's something even a Lord of Suffering can be afraid of.

My intention was going to the messengers once Haramhold got news realize that more than weaver and silvar wanted to help and go pick everyone up.

Well, the only feasible thing right now that Contragh would do would be to send a forward relay to make sure that when they arrive that he can take Green morningstar. Otherwise the time spent will seem wasted to the god of war.
I hope you don't mind having so many divine messengers at your doorstep Shorewood
