Please. Always bet on the guy who can burn things with his mind. Jonathon is far too valuable as a pawn friend to consider selling him out for a bounty. Unless he's worth something obscene, but he's honestly not quite dangerous enough for the bounty to be sky high. 5,000 Marks might get Lucien's attention. Anything less is a waste of a perfectly good mage and Lucien's time.
As I'm writing this, I've just checked your wiki entry that states Johnathon has a 15,000 gold bounty on his head. If true, Lucien would not only sell him down the river, but he'd paddle the boat himself and give the buyer a complimentary foot rub. That amounts to what Lucien would accrue from his personal cut of his various criminal enterprises... in 20 years. If he's worth 15,000 sovereigns, Lucien would greet him with a swift kick to the groin if not a pistol to the chest.
Kasa - If you would like to be involved, it would make a lot of sense for Lucien to send for Non and Myst once he's discovered his chef is incapacitated.
LoneWolf - You could be involved in the adventure at the Marquis's castle, but you'll have to think of a reason why he would be have been invited on such short notice.
Yes well, the bounty was put up before the monetary system was in place. I'm thinking for now it's around 10,000 marks. But there's a reason it's so high. Tirac is not particularly pleased with Jonathan for burning down quite a number of their ships in a far eastern port (totally an accident, but try convincing a nation you already busted out of prison from. Actually... that gives me an idea for later on...)

15,000 sovereigns is a lot like Xid said. I don't think it'd be something my mercenary would care to let go, regardless if it's the red wizard or not. Of course then again the competition is rather great and those bounty hunters wouldn't along well with my character either.
...My character's discount offer still stands if Jonathan has or can get a ship

Well yes, he is sort of the target of every bounty hunter out there. Reason being most people with such a large bounty on their heads are on the level of the pirate lords, and he's managed to do as much damage as he has through dumb luck. So the only trouble with capturing him, is that every other bounty hunter on the seas will be after you soon enough, a fact he's used to his advantage on more than one occasion. As to him commandeering a ship... perhaps at some point. At the moment a ship goes against his paranoid attitude of "run and burn all evidence to the ground." He trusts Non and Myst because at one point he had to and they didn't let him down. He respects most of his other friends but trusts them about as far as he can throw them.

10,000 Marks is the magic number to make Lucien consider turning you in if A) He doesn't have to expend many resources to do it or split the reward OR B) You've messed with his mojo.
Good reasons to have dealt with Lucien in the past are...
1. You need to sell or identify a magical/historical relic
2. You need to learn any obscure piece of lore (he has a huge library in his castle, it's just currently out of order because I didn't have enough advantages to account for it)
3. You have money or any political influence
4. You can get something he wants
5. You're a beautiful woman.
He's not really the kind of guy to get his hands dirty and very few people even know he's a criminal. He's a forger and a con artist by trade, so it's not like he's going to risk his life to steal something or even get involved in anything with a substantial risk of exposing himself. Even Captain Blake, who knows the man is as crooked as they come, doesn't quite know exactly how Lucien makes his money.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, competing with other bounty hunters is something my character would not be fond of. Mercenary work for him is a lot different going solo than when he had a group. He would likely abandon trying to capture Jonathan after finding that he has to deal with his job and the competition together. Same deal with Pirate Lords; in that case however they have much greater power to back their bounties up. (at least I'm presuming so) So trying to capture them is both inconvenient and suicidal in my character's opinion.
Not messing with Pirate Lords seems to be something our characters agree with. At least, not messing with them when we lack the advantage.

Hey Xid, noticing your most recent post, Wasn't Khallra female? I'm pretty sure in Blake's backstory Khallra was specifically mentioned as a female minotaur.

Khallra has so far been male. There's no gender listed in Blake's character sheet, and Khallra is definitely male in the opening IC post.

Elven Shaping
Said by some to have been handed down by the Ancients to the Elves long ago, the art of Elven Shaping works to shape the world about the caster and summon forth powerful entities from the world or the mind of the caster. If this were true, however, then Elven Shaping is but a paltry trick compared to the power the Ancients wielded, the most powerful of Elven magics a mere shadow of the powers their so-called Gods could muster.
Elven Shaping is a magic based on exerting one's will power on the world around oneself, capable of moving mountains and changing the course of rivers given enough time- and mages. Much of the Elven homelands have been shaped by this magic, and much of the workforce of the Elven Confederacy lies in the hands of Golems and Vessels. Elven Shaping is often described as more song and dance than actual magic, a display of fluid motion and sound that coalesces into a single but potent burst of power that takes effect on the world almost immediately. Groups of Elven Shapers (Shaping mages) are known as Circles. These Circles often meet together yearly to practice their group magics in massive festivals that stand against traditional Elven social norms, with drinking and more bawdy goings-on central to such meetings. Circles of Elven Shapers are met with great joy in the far flung regions of the Confederacy which have yet to be fully melded to conform to Elven standards, with great parties thrown in their honor before they are allowed to do their work.
A watered down version of Shaping has leaked out into the world and is known merely as Summoning, the very basics of how to shape and call forth powerful entities written in other languages than Elvish. The true nature of Shaping requires years of study that most short lived species have little access to. However, such powers are attainable if the work is left to successive generations. Elves are understandably defensive about Shaping and its inner workings, considering the magic holy to a certain extent.
Summoned Beings
Summoned Beings come in several types, depending on the make up of the materials used to create their bodies. Summoned Beings, however, can appear as almost anything- even mundane creatures -but each is a powerful representation of magic. Summoned beings, despite being created by the summoner, posses their own mind, and intelligence at varying levels, as well as displaying innate magical abilities due to their inherent magical nature.
Vessels: Vessels are the most simple of Summons, with even the most rudimentary summoner being capable of summoning a swarm of such creatures with a single spell. Vessels have no intelligence and follow the orders of their summoner to the letter- to the point of suicidal zeal. Vessels cannot exist without a Summoner
Golems: Created mostly out of mundane materials, Golems obey their master's commands almost mindlessly and act only to defend themselves from immediate harm unless otherwise commanded. Golems can be created from any mundane, processed material on hand, with the pieces slowly forming together at the will of the summoner. Golems are often kept in an indefinite state of operation, even living past their creator's lifespan. Such Golems often appear weathered and some even have startling levels of intelligence.
Elementals: Created from the base materials of the world, Elementals are living embodiments of powerful forces that rage against the control of their summoner. More intelligent than Golems, Elementals require steady, constant control from their caster and are generally only summoned when absolutely necessary. Elementals can break free from their summoner's control, causing massive levels of damage. The oldest Elementals dwell in hazardous locations, able to spawn and command more of their kind. Elementals eventually return to their base materials; their lifespans are determined by the power of the summoner who created them. Summoners generally create vessels to hold the Elemental when it is in it’s resting state through other uses of Shaping.
Spirits: Summoned Beings created by the pure magical force of the Summoner are known merely as Spirits, entities with a dizzying level of intelligence comparable to a mortal. Spirits have needs and desires on a much more profound level than even Elementals, and have magic all their own. Most Spirits live in harmony with their summoner, much akin to a parent-child relationship, though some rebel and even slay their creators. Cruel summoners are particularly targeted by Spirits, the Spirits only being capable of taking so much abuse before either breaking down and becoming a Golem or simply slaying their master and living in seclusion from mortal creatures before eventually dissipating into nothingness. Spirits return to the body of their Summoner when not in use, becoming magical energy when resting, though many Summoners claim they can still speak to the Spirits when they are in such a state.

Tales of the Dead Ship
Finally an elusive elven figure calling himself "Farlin" claims to know the exact location of the Esmerelda. Of course dozens like him have cropped up in the ensuing chaos and one would be quick to dismiss him, if one was not aware they were speaking to a Fae.
When does this start? I want in it! A lot! As soon as possible!
Of course you can! Though I intended it to be more of a villainous magic used by witchfoctors whenever someone needed one and thus considered evil and manipulative, but do what you want with it!
Sorry for not posting this sooner/saying much! Was preparing/in transit the last few days! :D Jetlag, ho!
Lorindal, Elven Revenant
Spoiler
Name: Lorindal (Uses a variety of aliases for his surname when given, the most popular being Moonshadow or Blackboots.) Affiliation: The Elven Confederacy Age: 221 Theme Song:Welcome to the Family
Physical Description:
Spoiler
Lorindal is one of the more common examples of Elves. With fair skin and hair he borders on being albino, though his skin has a more bluish tint than the pink of humans, and his pallid hair more silver rather than blond. His eyes are very pale as well though hold a clear lavender hue. While little of his skin is usually visible, it seems to be unblemished save for a single scar on his right cheek, a thin clean line running diagonally from just below his cheekbone to his jaw. Lean and somewhat average in height for an Elf, Lorindal does not cut a particularly imposing figure in that sense. He holds himself however with a confident, even severe air that brokers no argument. He trends towards darker clothing usually with some tactical value, often including a hood that can be drawn up to mask his pale features and allow him to blend into the shadows more easily. Otherwise, his hair is usually merely held back in a loose ponytail, still reaching midway down his back. In a somewhat uncharacteristic choice for an Elf, he wears a golden hoop earring in his right ear.
Personality:
Spoiler
Lorindal is very quiet, cool, and collected. While most often he comes off as quite serious, giving him a severe look, he has a strangely companionable, even casual nature to him when ‘off duty’ as it were. At the same time, if one were to doubt the earnestness, they might find him to seem suspicious instead or assume he was hiding something. He speaks softly and quite articulately, betrayed by his education and noble upbringing, though is never haughty. He has an oddly playful side despite his position, which isn’t always to the benefit or approval to others, though he is a fairly ‘good loser’ himself, especially if he is caught out or fooled in a particularly clever way by another. While not entirely a coward, he prefers discretion and covert tactics to rushing at a problem (or person) head on, and isn’t above fleeing from a fight he can’t win to try again another day.
History:
Spoiler
Born as the eldest son to the prominent Morilinde family, Lorindal grew to be an eager young lordling in Ashta’Arda’s capital, Corlond. Trained to swordfight already as part of his adolescent education, he was easily accepted to be one of the city’s guardians, having aspirations to become a royal guard one day. In his youth he was somewhat idealistic and perhaps too curious and stubborn for his own good, often attempting to investigate things on his own despite being encouraged and even warned to move in pairs for such.
During one such unsanctioned ‘investigation’, he came across the Revenant, Dolcarvé. Though no one can say exactly what happened, it seemed the Revenant took an interest in the impressionable youth and took Lorindal under his wing. Overjoyed with the attention and apparent approval from such a high standing figure, Lorindal was quick to accept Dolcarvé’s mentoring despite the Revenant’s reputation.
As Lorindal became more distant to his family in the process, concern grew, his parents in particular alarmed with the Revenant’s influence over their son, and what it might do. His younger brother, jealous of the attention and having a notorious petty streak, took advantage of the situation, forging letters to implicate Lorindal in shady or even illegal activities. Though Revenant Dolcarvé dismissed the assertions and evidence to keep Lorindal safe from legal repercussions, the young lordling was still privately requested to stay away from the House, essentially disowned, though quietly.
While it is unclear what exactly transpired in the years in between, it is clear that Lorindal was being groomed by Dolcarvé to become a new Revenant. This was inevitably approved, though Lorindal continued to work almost strictly alongside Dolcarvé rather than on his own missions, something fairly unusual. In recent times he was afforded more freedom, though still worked in tandem. Currently he seems to be completely independent, or at least has detached himself physically from Dolcarvé’s presence with the other Revenant’s absence from the public eye, though it is uncertain if he still merely carries out Dolcarvé’s plans from afar. Regardless, he has appeared in Wayfarers Port, seemingly to make sure the transplant of the new Ambassador goes smoothly.
Advantages
Spoiler
Cunning II (Common): Cunning characters are wily and adapt quickly to new situations. They are able to use the environment to their advantage in battle, develop strategies on the fly and are all around quick studies.
Agility II (Common): Agile characters move with grace and certainty. They're athletes. Acrobats, even. They deftly dodge attacks just as easily as more mundane obstacles.
Keen Senses I (Common): Lorindal has a keen eye and ear, quick to notice movement and sound, and as such more difficult to catch off guard.
Elven Revenant II (Uncommon): All Revenants are trained in combat and expected to be able to handle themselves on their own as they are often sent on covert missions without support. Most Revenants are trained with Elven swords as well as bows, though it is more common to substitute pistol training as the Elves come in contact with such. Lorindal is one such case, trained to use pistols, as well as swords.
Spy I (Common): Spies are trained in the arts of stealth and infiltration, able to blend into the shadows as they observe a target, and move deftly past locks and traps on the way to an objective.
Reputation I (Common): Revenants are respected and sometimes feared within the Confederacy for their ability to operate outside of and even act as the law. Though they are less known and understood outside of the Confederacy, this only adds to the sense of mystery surrounding them. Revenants even outside the Confederacy are viewed as something slightly ominous, the very presence commands respect. Even beyond this, rumors follow Lorindal in particular, painting him as a slightly sinister character, one unafraid to make hard decisions or get his hands dirty for the Confederacy. He is also known as the apprentice or protégé of the notoriously genius though undeniably wicked and ‘efficient’ Revenant, Dolcarvé.
Story Elements
Spoiler
Elven Revenants: These figures are the (often unseen) hand of the Elven government. They are given almost complete freedom and often plentiful resources, as they are expected to carry out the will of the Confederacy’s leaders without said leaders having to take much or any responsibility or accountability for the actions of their operatives. The Revenants are those that do what needs to be done for the government without the government having to ever confirm it. They are allowed to operate outside the law, or even enforce it where needed, making them generally respected throughout the Confederacy, either out of awe or fear. When explained to outsiders, they are sometimes more easily described as a cross between government sanctioned assassins or spies, and knights. While this may seem strange as the Elven Confederacy generally doesn’t operate as one power, nor does it have a true central government, the Revenants are a special exception. At the annual gathering, the states jointly vote on and approve the instatement of new Revenants as needed. At this point, a Revenant is no longer tied to any single state, but considered a tool or resource for the Confederacy as a whole. Any state head can call upon a Revenant as needed, regardless of their origin, though many tend to operate in their home nation state to maintain balance.
Dolcarvé: One of the Revenants with the longest track record, Dolcarvé’s name became well known throughout the Confederacy, not always for good reasons. Few could recall where he came from or who he was before becoming a Revenant, but he quickly made a name for himself for his sharp thinking and dedication to getting the job done. It was such a slow transition that it was perhaps too late when people began to notice his trend to more ruthless or ‘thorough’ methods of handling tasks. By the end of his career Dolcarvé was quite a formidable force, rumors circulating that even the leaders of the nation states were afraid to oppose him even if they could not openly condone his methods all the time. He was respected throughout the Confederacy still, known as a ‘wicked genius’; the general consensus was even if one did not like him or his methods, you could not help but to admire his efficiency and intellect. Though he was never officially declared dead, in the last year or two he has somewhat fallen off the map. While many are convinced it is an intentional ploy by the Revenant for some reason or another, others are more than eager to create rumors and gossip, the most popular being that he was murdered by his protégé, Lorindal.
Ashta’arda: Another of the Elven countries, Ashta’arda is lesser known outside the Confederacy, though still significant. Lacking the same natural splendor as Varden, Ashta’arda is instead renowned for its swordsmen and the main workers of moonsteel. There is a major culture focused around swordsmanship and the art of forging moonsteel. In Ashta’arda and the capital, Corlond, especially, moonsteel swords are common equipment for master swordsmen. These fine blades are the token weapon of the royal guards in Corlond.
Ashta’arda is one of the more northern countries of the Confederacy, characterized by a pair of mountain chains that create a noticeable difference in climate across the nation. In the mountains it tends to be on the cooler side even during the warm seasons, unless the sky remains clear where some remark it can become unseasonably warm. In the winter however snow is common and even plentiful, while in the valley it remains comfortable for most of the year, though summers can be a bit more intense. Because of this there tends to be a migration pattern, many noble families having a ‘summer home’ in the mountains to retreat to, returning home to the valley when winter sets in.
The capital Corlond is quite particular in the way it is built to be circular, concentric rings making up the inner streets. A main road breaks the city in two, starting at the main gate and ending on the opposite side with the palace. Corlond sits near the base of Mount Faunsarn, not far from some of the country’s main mines. Corlond is predictably the capital of the moonsteel industry as well as home of the royal family. Much of Ashta’arda is populated by the Isilmeran (‘Moon Elves’), who also make up the royal family. The history of Ashta’arda’s royal family is one filled with disagreements and dramatic flair, the family notorious for infighting. They are also famous for managing to rule in an orderly fashion, never letting such interfere with the lives of the citizens, or at the least doing their best not to. The current ruler is the young swordsman, Prince Arastos, much to the joy of the citizens who long favored him over the previous Queen Indoriel, his somewhat overbearing mother.
It is yes. Le Suisse deleted his post so I've deleted the response in question. The statement however remains. Voodoo or what ever it will end up being called will be...strange. That's the point.

Go forth to the IC thread! Seriously first post is up. It's sparse, but it's up. As soon as people begin preparing for the hunt and the three day clock on obtaining the coordinates will activate.

Would you like a roll to find Farlin? I figure it is the best bet for Team Elf considering he's passing himself off as one.

Hmmm, yeah sure why not let's leave it to the dice. Not sure what advantages you would bring to such a roll but shall we say you have to beat 6? Well I said it, so you do.

Ladies and gents we have a winner! Post to the IC thread of Vasae trying to track down one of the "madmen" who "done dress nicer than the rest" and people have been heard to say about "that elf gives me the heebie-jeebies." Oh and Hydranova, the 26th is the last of the launches day. So might I suggest an earlier date for your characters involvement?

Alrighty, I'll edit the post to include all that. I believe Da Mongoose and Veldin will be posting to shadow Vasae...being the scary Revenants they are/used to be.

I should note that I would totally have Captain Rackham get involved, but raiding a Tirian ship is so far out of character that it isn't even funny.
On the other hand, I imagine that repairs will be complete by the time this comes around, which means he might try to stop the raiders. Assuming, of course, that he could become aware of the raid and find the coordinates. Or at least follow the actual raiders.

The intention is to give the privateers a different motive than the pirates to shake things up a bit. After all, think of the rewards that would go to the savior of the Esmerelda!
Edit: the Tuna? I assume you mean the Spotted Fish.

Alright editing in a post. A note, if Morgus insists on talking to the captain, instead of hunting for the Bosun he will get an audience. You may have to roll if you decide to offer magical service in exchange for passage, as it will depend on whether desperation or superstition wins out.
TheDarkDM: Should I expect the Wraith to take part in this adventure? Just wondering how I should scale the difficulty.
