Well, Niko's opinion of rations is much like Dave Lister's opinion of pot noodles in the show Red Dwarf.
That bad, huh?
What fascinates me the most about the statement is why would take 7 days worth if that's what he thinks of it.
Dried meat, for one, might have been an alternative from the dining hall kitchen.
Then again, maybe you thought ahead of me and Niko stocked up on the preserved oats, nuts and grains because they last far longer, I don't know...

Because they are still better than eating your own shoes. That, and maybe it can work as bait or a distraction. With some luck, it may even be useable as poison.
Niko's comment about how long they don't go worse for is based on something I read about the food from a rather popular chain of fast food restaurants. In that case though, it's due to a lack of nutrients for bacteria and fungus to feed on along with over-cooking and large amounts of salt.

Sorry for the double-post, won't be on the forums this weekend much(if at all), I have some plans with my family, so I can't keep track of anything internet beyond a couple of minutes at a café,I think I'll be back by Sunday or Monday, I'm just not sure which at the moment.

I'd assume that the rest of you follow some distance behind Chaff, and someone remembers to a) hide rods next to the hole and b) rmove the hidden rods from next to the door to the basement. Please correct any wrong assumptions.
Someone roll for the hide check, and Chappe should roll Chef to see if he got good meat out of the bug.
I'll post about what you find later today.

None of you see or hear anything strange.
There seems to be nothing unnatural about this cavern.
The only specific hazard that comes to mind in this kind of cavern is sinkholes - the floor may be thin and you might fall through to another cavern. It's not likely, though. Nobody can remember any specific predators in this terrain.
You are likely under the school courtyard now.

Everyone: Sorry for TRIPLE-posting, but looking back, how many rods did we actually take from the 16 alarm rods?
I(Gurlin) took 4 rods, buried three at first, then another 2(supposedly extra one handed from someone present) I looked around and we only took 6 rods.
I can only guess with all that goes on we forgot 10 rods, having 1 rod left we may need to return to recollect them before we go too far. Maybe a scene of realization...
Thoughts?

I think we took the rods from the briefing room in the scene with Laksara, where they were presented and discussed.(page 1 IC).
But what are we going about having just the 1 rod left in Niko's(I think) pack?

Marker Mage: that's what's written, but Gurlin took four and buried five, you took two and buried nil, I don't think anyone else took any rods, and Gurlin's the one who's been planting the rods thus far.
That leaves us at -1 and 2 rods, -1+2=1 if nobody else took any rods.
Perhaps I should have asked you before I buried more rods than I had, but I didn't notice any of this until 3 days ago. so I hope you Won't mind crossing 1 rod out, and sorry for not checking any of this in the time it was wiser.

Are you sure that we left 10 of the 16 rods behind? Maybe the half-elf grabbed them. There was a time that I thought we left her behind.
As good an assumption as any, as far as I'm concerned. But I think we need a ruling to make that, I think she can carry 10 rods.
Your welcome to run an inventory check to see if I miscounted, but I already erased 4 rods off Gurlin's back.

I just want to make sure I remember things correctly.
We entered the first chamber and found two tunnels. One led us to the small hole with the giant caterpillar and the second ends in the cavern we are in now. Correct?
Not that we've seen as of yet, I believe. But then again our little torch circle only lights the room so far.

again, just to make certain I understand it. The cavern with the stalagmites and stalactites has only two passages in and out: the one that we entered through and the one the appears to dead end.

Don't let this die... Please don't let this die!
Onward, then? Where do we go from back at the large cavern? Freebiewitz? Anyone?

[SPOILEROFF]
Doing several cooking checks.
[roll] First check is for one pound of bug meat.
[roll] Second check is is for a sort of soup that uses 1/2 pound of normal meat (Probably beef) and some of the trail rations (Hard long keeping vegetables, perhaps carrots)
(bolded points for emphasis) shugyosha:From what I understand, our meals consist of a beef soup/broth, deep-fried caterpillar, [potentially] prestidigitation-ed water(if one of us has that prepared, I'm too tired to check right now), and dried bread to dip in the soup from our own rations.
Honestly, though the thought repulsed me, I reminisced on my last ranger character and realized: we're eating pretty darn good for a group of adventurers, or certainly +average at least.

I'm probably going regret doing what I just did.
But it does seem like something Chappe would do and it doesn't really hurt anyone else so I figured why not?

Stick a piece of questionably safe bug meat without the antitoxin? Yeah, that's a bit reckless...
But at the same time it's possibly smarter than what anyone else would've done.
See, if it is safe "meat", The 50-gold anti-toxin would be wasted.
In addition, if it is safe to eat then Chappe would prove that once an for all.
Either way, I really hope he has what it takes the make caterpillar taste...good.(Eww, I almost said "noteworthy"...>~<)
