Re: [D&D3.5] Adventuring School (4 DMs & 20 players wanted)
This would imply, then, that most demi-humans are parallel in behaviour to humans of their locality. For example, German elves would be considered more industrious, practical, and logical than French elves, or am I misunderstanding?
Also, the school is based in the US, correct?
I'd imagine that they're similiar people share the qualities of those around them. Helps in the work force and life. If a Russian elf decides to just lounge about everyone else is going to treat him like a bum. People treat others like they do people with different skin. Troll smells a little funny and is taller than everyone no problem they're strong and can help when strength is needed.
Also the school is in England cause I feel fancy.
So generally 1945-era technology? Or earlier than that?
Yep 1945
So are there some places where the monstrous species are considered "sub-human", for want of a better term, or is everywhere that monsters and humanoids live together peaceful and equal?
In less developed parts of the world strength and magic rules monsters and man still war. Also things are relatively rough in Germany, Japan and Italy Hitler was running off the idea that monstrous people were evil and all that jazz. So just picture the attack on Normandy beach but with giants and earth elementals helping with the cause. Which is an image just too awesome for me not to draw. During the civil war more chaotic monsters were in the south and the more lawful were in the north. South believed in killing monsters and monstrous humanoids without discrimination and the monsters helping them felt they should be able to kill humans without problems. Canada is pretty peaceful though.
Questions that follow:
Is there a black market when it comes to these permits?
Are there magic users who have gone rogue and cast spells illegally?
Would there be people professionally dedicated to hunting these people down?
How exactly is this all policed? Is it through extensive divination or are there literal magic police wandering around checking for permits and arresting wrong-doers?
Just much much more about how magic works in general.
The black market is working on pulling off such an idea though they're better off training casters without anyone noticing there progress. Than they'll set them loose upon the world. It's rather difficult for people to find these hidden casters. With low level casters they simply keep a card on them detailing what spells are in their repetoire and report in once every three months on the spells they cast and where they have traveled. They usually write them up each night before they go off to bed. The local police of each area just have some casters who take down any disordely casters.
Got more questions I'll answer more.
Is there a stock-market and is the world still based on a Laissez-faire economic system, or has the coinage system changed things? Does paper money exist?
Stock market yes Laissez-faire yep Paper money exists only in bank notes and checks.

Hm. So, what kingdoms or countries or empires did the other humanoid races rule? Did dwarves rule Japan? Etc.

No one race has seriously ruled one area as of late There are a great deal of elves in France, Italy and along most of the British isles the dwarves have gone where the humans have gone and the humans have gone everywhere. Drow originated in Africa (Anansi=Lolth think about it.) and have been slinking behind elves as they do. Trying to pinpoint where intelligent abberations lurk is like shooting darts in the dark trying to hit flies.
Their is a dress code this in Engalnd after all.
Spoiler
Something to this effect.

That's annoying...
Does this apply to monsters and other creatures that may not fit the clothing?
Do Familiars have to wear these uniforms?
Where do the other eleven subraces fit into this Earth?

High Elves in Europe, Drow in Africa...
Familiars just have to wear collars
Rockseer elves and painted elves can be found in remote areas such as the amazon. Snow elves have been spotted on the poles and grey elves are in an abundance in the nordic areas. High elves are across the world but easily found in Europe.

And what if our Familiar is unable to wear collars (Such as an Air Elemental)?
They do not have to wear anything, then, right?

Mr. TaiLiu. I should like to inform you that you are not at school to "look appealing". You are here to learn, to develop, and to NOT BE DISTRACTED BY OTHER STUDENTS THANK YOU VERY MUCH RYU!

You make very good points.
(RYU? My research brought up a Street Fighter character...)
Re: [D&D3.5] Adventuring School (4 DMs & 20 players wanted)
Well, can we at least have somewhat more fashionable school uniforms? Those uniforms are atrosious! I could attempt to up draw some better ones if you like. (I'm trying to practice clothing at the moment)
edit: It shouldn't matter too much abot how distracting the uniforms are because, I believe it mentioned previously, that this is an all boys school. (except that my character is actually a girl disguised as a boy)

Re: [D&D3.5] Adventuring School (4 DMs & 20 players wanted)
Those were the fashion of the time if anyone is willing to find something better for the era than we will change. Also Blade if you could do a tally of our players and teachers I think we're able to begin and I'm ready once I know all the players are here than I will inform the teachers.

Hm. How much time do we have to complete our character sheets?
I'm almost finished, but we had some recent arrivals...
Re: [D&D3.5] Adventuring School (4 DMs & 20 players wanted)
If you set the cell dimensions to make square sheets, I've always found Excel to be pretty handy. You can drop in background images and everything if you've got map images without grids you'd like to use.
People with "p" and a number beside their name are those that have put up their character sheet, and the page of this thread that they firstposted a link to it. First off, it must be clarified wheather Squark and Demidos are DMing or PCing or even still interested. If they are DMing, I count 19 posted interests of being a player that are still valid (the Player List is composed of those, I did not list withdrawn interests). So, we need to contact the people to make sure they are still playing. We would still need at least one more person to join.
edit: On a side note, a campaign i'm playing is using google documents for its map (an arena), which is quite accessable.
