Oh right, I forgot the Gem of Colloquy is a head slot item. Hmm. The Headband of Intellect is still better because of the bonus to attack rolls, but I suppose she could switch them out depending on the situation. Is there anyone else who would benefit from the gem?
The arcana skill is generally used for it. It would likely be the PCs Arcana vs the Scryer's Will or maybe an opposed arcana check. Any of the Scrying rituals talk about how the sensor may or may not be found.
Eye of Warning
You conjure forth a phantasmal sentry—a slender pillar 6 feet tall, topped with a floating, unblinking eye. The eye protects you from your enemies’ efforts to scry on you, watches over your camp, and cries out an alert if danger approaches.
Component Cost: 800 gp
Market Price: 4,200 gp
Key Skill: ArcanaLevel: 14
Category: Warding
Time: 30 minutes
Duration: 24 hours (special)
This ritual works the same as Eye of Alarm.
In addition, an eye of warning automatically detects any scrying sensor that appears or moves within 10 squares of it, treating the sensor as an intruder. Furthermore, the eye destroys the sensor immediately after warning you unless the creator of the scrying sensor succeeds on an Arcana check (DC 20 + your level). Wherever you are, you instantly know if the eye encounters a sensor. Each round the sensor remains within 10 squares of an eye, the eye attempts to destroy it again.
Optional Focus: As with the Eye of Alarm ritual, you can extend the duration of this ritual indefinitely by keeping a focus in the vicinity. This ritual focus is a small, jeweled eye made of gold and ruby, worth 1,600 gp.

He can try to look, but he’s going to pay for it.
Component Cost: 5,000 gp
Market Price: 25,000 gp
Key Skill: ArcanaLevel: 20
Category: Scrying
Time: 30 minutes
Duration: 24 hours or until discharged
This ritual creates a ward around you that warns you about scrying in your area. You become automatically aware of any scrying sensors that perceive you. This awareness wakes you if you are asleep. When you become aware of a sensor in this manner, you can choose to destroy it and end the ritual that created it, unless the sensor or the creature is higher level than you. You can also choose to observe the creature that created the sensor, using your Arcana check result to determine how long you can observe that creature.
Arcana Check Result Duration

20—24 2 rounds
25—29 3 rounds
30—39 4 rounds
40 or higher 5 rounds
And then there's this little baby:

Ward the True Name
A rush of voices flows through your mind, as though you eavesdropped on the whole world at once. Almost immediately it fades to a background rustle, as easily ignored as the trickling of a gentle stream, yet ever ready to leap to the forefront of your mind.
Component Cost: 22,500 gp
Market Price: 125,000 gp
Key Skill: Arcana (no check)Level: 26
Category: Scrying
Time: 8 hours
Duration: Permanent until discharged
If anyone anywhere in the world performs a divination or scrying ritual that is intended to gather information about you—such as someone using Consult Mystic Sages or Consult Oracle to ask questions about you, or using Observe Creature to spy on you—you instantly become aware of it. You do not learn the nature of the ritual caster’s questions or efforts. You learn only the specific ritual that was performed. You also gain the ability to identify the ritual caster well enough to scry upon him or her in turn.
The effect of this ritual ends when you have been alerted to a divination or scrying attempt.
Good stuff, but Christ these rituals take a long time to cast, especially the last one. I can only imagine the more well known characters having their ward set off a minute after they finish casting by some minor character.

Do you want this dollar
Yes Sir, I do
Then sever your arm, and you can have the dollar
No Sir, I cannot live without my arm
Then remove a finger, and you can have the dollar
No Sir, my finger is dearer than the dollar
Then cry me a cup of tears, and you can have the dollar
No Sir, I cannot cry. Not for a dollar
Then shoot the man yonder, and you can have the dollar

A long casting time for an exceptionally powerful ritual. Makes sense to me.
I agree that rituals are kind of out of control in 4e, never really liked that system either, but never really got around to designing a good Homebrew replacement for it either.
Have you seen Surrealistik's houserules? They aren't perfect but they are quick and easy. It deals with the extended casting times while still forcing the players to have a certain amount of discretion (surges don't grow on trees, except for Con-based defenders, or someone running around with a Ring of Tenacious Will).

Doesn't really concern Arya. Amusing to him, perhaps.

Blame it on another 70 hour work week, or blame it on me wanting to budget my cash a little better and thus cancelling my DDI account (and using friends' accounts for my two real life games), but I've just been in a PbP funk lately. I'm gonna bow out for now and not hinder gameplay as you wait for me to post. If these games are still going and I return to the pbp world, perhaps you'd welcome me back, perhaps not...but regardless it's been a fun two months or so of gaming with you all. Shoutout to Celtic, who has been in every game with me that I can think of, haha. You all are great players.
Sad to see you go Dane, you have great RP and are an awesome PC. If you come back to the Pbp life, let me know!
Well, with that development, do we want to find another leader? Actually came a quite a nice time IC wise. If we would like to find one, I can make a recruitment thread and see if we can't find someone. Shouldn't take too long to find someone, honestly.
We'll miss you Dane. I would presume that all of us here would be waiting to welcome you back.
While unfortunate, I think we should discuss what kind of replacement leader we are looking for. Dak is both very interesting as a character and highly effective mechanically. What kind of leader would we be looking for as a replacement?

Do you guys remember what items and gold I had you start out with, at level 12, when we started? Just want to make sure everything is fair and all for you guys and them.
I think pretty much every kind of leader would work, I'd base my vote more on character than stats probably.
Of course added synergy with any of our classes would be a nice bonus :P
Regarding what type of Leader...a Warlord would work well with a Barbarian, Paladin, and Warlock, three classes that typically have better than usual basic attacks.

@Silver - Quite right, thanks for catching that. Fixed it
And we will see what cool Characters these guys come up with. And just as before, I would love your opinions on submissions as well. Obviously want feedback from you guys, because you will be the ones playing with them!
