Yeah... Seems to be Eversion...
Dr. Epic and Pokemon-freak89 and anyone else who doesn't get it, it's a reference to a game called Eversion... A game that is bright and cheerful and happy... On the surface... And gets progressively more disturbing the further down you go.

Wow, that is a REALLY crappy logo. It took a lot of effort to see the numbers. It was way easier to see the disturbing lisa picture. Does that make me sick? or the designers just really bad?

As for the logo, they seem to have changed the color to from hideous pink and yellow to simple bland green. But still

Yeah, that was my first thought. Being as, well, in London there are cameras EVERYWHERE. Like, seriously, there are cameras everywhere. I have never seen so many security cameras in my life, in all my travels, as were in London.

The logo is appalling and pretty much everyone I know has hated it since it was unveiled (2008?) There are some rather amusing parodies around the place if you look for them - there were also various competitions won to design a better one, which produced better results pretty quickly.
The colour scheme is variable - there are all sorts of versions, including the horrible green/pink that would have looked passe in about 1992, Union Flag versions, etc.
I don't mind the mascots, especially by comparison with the logo although the CCTV angle is a bit worrying. To be honest I didn't get CCTV from them until it was pointed out to me (I didn't know about the "records everything", either!). I also really like the names. But the mascots are always pretty awful, and children seem to like them, which is basically the point. As far as mascots go I think they're pretty good.

the logo is absolutely horrendous..everybody I know or have read about has said it from the first day it was shown in public. they've had years to fix it, but decided not to..which is stupid.
I was unaware of the fact that there are 2 mascots. I only ever saw the first one on the left.. and a female friend of mine remarked it looks a lot like something she keeps in her nightstand drawer... which has ruined it for me.

The one on the left (Wenlock) is for the Olympics; the one on the right (Mandeville) for the Paralympics. Wenlock will probably be more recognisable, because the Olympics are on first. Also, no matter how hard anyone tries, the Paralympics just don't have the same profile.

I do wonder if it's a bit un-wise to make your mascot a camera, at least when people are complaining about you putting cameras up(I also wonder why exactly they kept the logo after people pointed out that it looks a bit...unfortunate?, Did they just not believe people saying it looked "a bit odd" or something?)

It's ridiculous that it ever got to that stage, but I think by the time it was actually released it was far too late to change it. The release is, after all, basically the last step in the process.
