Turn is up. EoT deadline is not this week, but next week. Specifically...
Turn 11 EoT Deadline is 08:00 GMT, Friday, July 13.
We'll see if that helps matters at all; maybe we'll get lucky. The last story, "national watchdog organization" blah blah, is just something interesting. It won't be very specific, but it occurred to me as a little weird with hidden stats (which are my fault to begin with) that there's no equivalent to Jane's, the Wall Street Journal, or other such institutions. Like, in the real world, for all that a lot of projects are top-secret classified, behind closed doors, or the like, we basically know which nations are economic powerhouses, or military juggernauts, or so forth. Basically, it'll collate publicly-available knowledge (MIL, ESP, ECO, TEC, MOR, REP) and compare nations to see who has the biggest GDP, the biggest armed forces, and so forth, by general ranking. Mind you, they have no ESP or stats themselves, so they won't be able to see through hidden or inflated stats. Also, if the player base at large isn't interested and voices that here or in PM, I'll drop the idea quietly as a bad one.
EDIT: Oh, and I almost forgot. C'nor, inbox, please. ^_^
I support the godly magazine idea, and hope that Eld can serve as mix of town crier and incredibly deadpan game show host in some sections. Also, for some odd reason, he will also make appearance when it comes to godly fashion tips, for even if he is grim reaper he will be the most bishounen god there is. Just you wait

I'd be interested in the watchdog results. It does make sense as at the start of the game we had some general idea like X player put high for miltiry, while Y player said economy was his highest stat. No doubt that's changed.
And to answer your question in the EoT Mistral, yes, the WANN is very similar to the BBC. Some government oversight and ties but not much.

I think the idea of having a general ranking is a good one. It is silly not to know whether someone has 1 MIL or 100 when considering whether to attack them.
When are the relative rankings going up? I'm in favor of the idea, although I can see it hurting my but oh well. It reminds me of the old civilization games where every so often a ranking would pop up to show you how you were doing in an area.

Next turn. I wanted to give people a chance if they wanted to use the mostly forgotten rules on stat obfuscation or inflation, which were only ever used on the very first turn by a handful of players. Which...were never brought over from the recruitment thread. Oh. >_<
Obscuring and Inflating Stats
Spoiler
Players may obscure or inflate their public display of the four infrastructure-based stats (MIL, ESP, ECO, TEC). Significantly cheaper than a direct increase in these stats, this can be useful in circumstances where a player wants to look more dangerous or powerful than they actually are, or conceal their true strength. One point of ESP invested for this purpose into a specific stat can either artificially increase or decrease a stat's public value by one stat point, and will act to maintain this through opposed die rolls should any nation attempt to inveigle the true stat value available through ESP. MOR may be used for propaganda efforts, but will not provide any defensive value.
Stats may be inflated to 125% (rounded down) of their actual total, or obscured to a minimum of 75% (rounded up). Inflated or obscured stats will remain, regardless of upkeep, unless discovered by another player through ESP or traits. Stat inflation or obscuration will not aid in stat growth; they essentially boil down to fudging numbers, balloon or paper armies, artificial wealth inflation, and the like.
Hm. So one can't conceal if they have 0 in a stat, then, since it's all percentages?

You assisted an openly tyrannical government in keeping it's people oppressed, and waging war against peacekeeping forces. You also developed chemical weapons, and used them on civilian forces, without properly testing them.
Australia is allied with you, inexplicably believes your actions were not immoral, and is willing to use military force to prevent you from being brought to justice.
You are both allied with TELEPATH, who also utilized chemical weapons, fully aware of the catastrophic effect they would have on civilian lives.
kinda makes sense there. If you want, we could pay the Newfoundlanders weregild.
That might help.
As for Australia, I still haven't restored diplomatic relations to them yet. They accused me falsely of planning an attack on Grim, trying to spoil my international reputation for no discernable reason.

Whatever you say Murska, whatever you say. I didn't think you were ever going to restore diplomatic relations with us, we did lose a bit of resources in you 'competitive' acquisition of think tanks. Nothing irreplaceable though. It was really kind of a weak attempt, I expected more of my arch enemy. :)
Lunar Empire and Brittain are waging an economic war in Pacific Region, stealing Australian think tanks? That can’t be allowed. I’m calling an emergency meeting of the Economic Council to secure funds for a counter-attack. We won’t allow our friend…
Wait… Australia is consorting with Amur’s worst enemies? They are acting with great hostility and plot against us? Okay, hold that call, I think I’ve got better projects to invest in.

10 t. econ for 2 p. tech, plus an enemy lost those 2. I think it's a pretty good project for someone who was nuked so bad that I barely have enough stats to keep my own territory from seceding.

To think, that Econ could have went to the reconstruction of a suburb or maybe the building of a park or two.
1. TELEPATH has been a major obstacle to the regional stability and peace, that Amurian Technocracy has been working very hard to achieve.
2. They have committed numerous offenses against science, showing no regard for ethics and impact of their research on the state of the world.
P.S.
3. Great Fleet Rule: If you let a PC survive, he'll spend the rest of the game working to destroy you.
