You sure on that username? 'cause the game says no one has that name.
How is warrior for soloing?, currently I'm using sword+horn(for increased mobility) with longbow as my alt weapon.

I solo somewhat fine with my Warrior at the moment. My Maul of Vitality kinda helps me survive long. With the Maul, I can easily smash through 3-4 mobs at once.
Btw, I tried the Sword/Horn, but haven't seen the difference. What does the Horn do?
2 swords is... Fine, but underwhelming at the moment. I think I so use to the Maul gameplay I suck with the swords for now. Still switch over them when
I feel I can afford it. This is something I like about te game so far: varying gameplay style based on weapons. It aint only a cosmetic change.
And u know I can just not join event, but their presence on the map kind of distracts me. I'd like to right-click and say "ignore this event".
Sword+horn grants a speed boost/snare removing and an ability which slightly reduces damage dealt by enemies, though I have been ponderign switching to something like the maul(slow, but very fun and very powerful), or perhaps a greatsword(much faster then a maul, but i think it deals less damage, it does have a charge ability though).
Longbow is pretty good as well, and deals good AoE damage(it's also fun with the bolas ability)

I ignore them if they are one I have done before or if I'm doing something more important (like getting map completion)
You ignore acquiring XP/karma/cash in favor of getting map completion a little bit faster?
I *never* ignore events. I will stop doing whatever I'm in the middle of if/when one triggers near me.

That does remind me, does every zone have the parkour/jumping puzzle vistas?, They're a pretty fun variant on normal exploration

Every zone that I've been in through three BWEs and after launch has had them, but I can't speak for zones that I haven't been in. All signs point to "yes."

I like the xp gained for every actions you take; fighting, rezzing, mining, picking flowers, parkour...
Now if only i had an inkling of what to do with all tha copper ore. Or on what exactly I should use the salvage packs.
Edit: ohh! Quick fun moment i had. I was fighting Ice Elementals (yhea I'm a Norr, sue me), and was having quite a lot of trouble defeating them.
Until it dawned on me to actually DODGE the top-down ice attack when I see a red circle on the floor...
*facepalm* Remi, this ain't WoW, remember. You actually have to be careful of your positioning. Reach/ranged attacks will merely miss if you are out of range. CHECK YOUR POSITIONNING
Copper Ore is used in several of the crafting professions; I'm sure of Jewelcrafting, Armorcrafting and Weaponcrafting, not if it's used in any others. (Best check the wiki for that.)
Salvage packs can be used on any equipment and on items that have the Salvageable tag on them. The quality of your salvage kit determines if you retrieve special resources such as sigils and rare materials.
And yeah, that's a really awesome thing the dodging. A friend of mine and I were fighting this huge elemental in the Human starting area which rained down projectiles all the time which you had to dodge.
Crafting's been really fun so far (been doing Chef and Jewelcrafting), the only downside seems to be that some crafting professions like Weaponcrafting don't really have enough recipes to discover between 25 and 75 which makes leveling up rather grindy. Luckily we've been trading a lot of materials inside our guild which makes things easier but still...

I make avatars. Sometimes.
I've decided to just suck it up and do the Norn starting zone. The level disparity was getting too stupid.

(Continuing the Warrior discussion above.) I've tried all of the warrior weapons, except Axe/Axe, and my favorite is Rifle + Axe/Mace. Single targets (even 5 levels higher than you, I can attest) are trivially kited and destroyed with the rifle. Heck, even fighting knockback immune enemies like the Earth Elementals in Diessa (who were 20 when I was 15), so you can't use the rifle butt skill, you can still just strafe and use crippling shot on cooldown and they won't touch you.
Axe/Mace I'm actually liking more for taking out groups of enemies than the Greatsword because I find Hundred Blades to be really frustrating that it can't be used on the move. Axe/Mace gives you two AoE abilities (one of which hits behind you), and has a wide arc on the auto-attack, similar to the Greatsword. It has much less mobility than the Greatsword, without its two movement skills, but I don't find that a huge loss in PvE.
Many people on this thread who've tried the Mesmer? A WoW friend of mine bought GW2 for me (couldn't afford it for a month, love him forever!) only an hour or so ago, I'm downloading it now (12%!), and that's the profession I want to try first, because they look the coolest and the most fun. But also the most tricky :3

Mesmers are pretty fun. Remember your shatter skills, though! A lot of your burst damage comes from exploding your illusions in people's faces.
If you're going to go Mesmer, though, I have a request: if you're fighting a boss that doesn't have any adds, and you see an ally who's downed or defeated... don't use Illusion of Life, for the love of God.

Illusion of Life is an AoE skill that immediately rallies downed allies within its area of effect... for a few seconds. If they don't kill anything within the time limit, they're immediately defeated, bypassing the downed state entirely.
You can see why this would be a bad thing in a battle with a single high-HP boss, yes?
It happened to me earlier today.

Bahahahaha.. That would be quite amusing mid-boss-battle, wouldn't it? The Ultimate trolling ability for my WoW friends on GW2 xD
On another note: 17% downloaded! -_- Been downloading it for three hours too.. But my roommate (also future bro-in-law) is downloading it too. xD Damnit!

I have a mesmer alt though she is only level 8. She is pretty fun though using mantras gets annoying rather fast. There is only so many times you can listen to "Heal, Vital, Recovery!" before you want to scream.
Though there is bug that if you use MoR underwater your character says "Healhealhealhealhealhealheal, Vital, Recovery!"

Well need to recreate the Order of the Sticl, I hope you are aware of that?
- Big Black Bald fighter, 2-h sword
- Redhead thief
- Small-sized ranger
- small and stout Guardian
- Androgyn Purple-haired elementalist
- ...... Sorry Élan. You are screwed here
Edit: fail all around apparently. we'd need a blond human Mesmer.

I have to say I'm really tempted to try out Guild Wars 2. The skill design seems a lot more elegant than in Guild Wars 1. I remember playing Mesmer in GW1... it was a strong profession, potentially, but good luck figuring out how to use it properly. Also, they got rid of the Monk profession. Guess they figure out the healbot role is as boring as watching paint dry.

As for Mesmers, I'm liking Sword+Pistol and Greatsword. Greatsword has good long range damage with some Aoe and the Sword+Pistol gives you plenty of single target damage. Both also have some crowd control for defense. Staff is also good.
Playing a Mesmer after having played GW1 is weird, the mesmers in GW2 seem to be more of a damage focused class with some slows and DoTs. Still, they're fun.
I'm curious, who here here has done Caudacu's Manor? It felt easier than Ascalon Catacombs for me, I was surprised as was the rest of my party. It was a really fun dungeon though.
How common are abilities like the engineer/rifle rocket jump thing?, or like the 1 handed sword/warrior jumping charge?, I've found them useful for jumping puzzles, and for traveling in general, but have eebn thinking of trying out another class, but wanted to pick oen with mobility
