Couple of things for the IC thread:
For formatting, please put anything relating to rules, rolls, system, or questions in a spoiler tag at the bottom of your post. Your questions in the IC thread should be short and relate directly to what's going currently on. Anything else can go in here. I'd like that thread to be purely narrative except for what's in the spoiler boxes. And don't quote. Sorry to be picky, but I find they read a lot nicer and easier when it's done this way.
Bonivant, you're not present at this first section. You'll be introduced very soon, and it will be obvious when that happens. Grail and Rourke, you're both being addressed by the introductory post.
Please make your first post here either your character sheet, or a link to it, as well as your background in a spoiler box.

replying. I ended up taking care of things somewhat more rapidly than expected. Mostly because after the first few things everything else sort of shifted into place. YAY. My posting probably still won't be as rapid as I would like until next week though.

Good to have you back, Ralasha. If you can get a background done soon, we can write you into this scene quite easily. If not, we'll add you along the way. If there's anything you need to have worked out, we'll work out the details in the recruitment thread.

There's just enough time for Cedric to introduce himself, and then we can get on the road. Rourke, would you be so good as to post your character sheet in this thread? That way I can link to it and we won't lose it when the recruitment thread disappears.
She grew up in a merchant family that had no sons. As such she was raised in a manner most would find befitting. She was educated in how to run the business. Her parents however come from a land where the women often fought alongside the men when fighting was needed. And treated their daughter in truth only slightly differently than they might have a boy. Perhaps this is a part of why she would often cajole the guards into training her in the use of arms and armor. Which they found rather amusing. Kept secret from her parents for fear of reprisal, the guards did so, and once they had, and tried to stop upon realizing she was serious she threatened to inform their employers if they stopped.
She has learned a few languages during her journeys as luck would have it, though in truth only two she can speak well, or read and write. Having no time for schooling she has been constantly on the move as her parents attempt to keep their business above the water. Boudicca however, having now learned war, and how to fight, informed her parents that such a difficult life was not something she desired, and that she would set out to find her own fortune and future. They had enough after all, set aside as a dowry, in the hopes of finding someone willing to marry such a manly woman. Without any further word she left them at the next available city, free from her, and she from them.

Thanks, Ralasha. We've passed the point of no return, but you can now join etiher on the way out, or on the road. Obviously you'd need to know at least one of the characters.
Actually, I could very easily enter the game right now, before it's too late.

Ah, I thought your background wasn't ready yet. You just scraped in, well done.
Oh, Bonivant, I accidentally copied the old link for the character sheet into that table. Should I use the Google Docs version, or will you post your sheet in this thread?

Yeah, I noticed that. I have been retconning that old sheet, on the link above.
I don't like what happened top the Google Docs thing, so lets drop that and keep this old sheet instead.
I'll finish the text based CharSheet and post it in the OOC thread when I can.
Spoiler
CHARSHEET of Brother Cedric Cottarsley
Profession: Mystic. Race: Human. Social Class: Son of a Cottar Rank: 1st Experience: 01/30
Description:
Cedric is 21 years old, tall, broad shouldered, and muscular. He has a shock of red hair and emerald green eyes.
Cedric wears a well worn Monks Habit of brown wool, which conceals Brigandine armour beneath.
Background Idea: Born and raised in a small village in Northern Albion, Cedric had always been well built and strong. He thought he would be a simple Cottar for the rest of his life, like his father. That was all to change upon his 14th Winter on the occasion of the village church patronal festival. The Bishop of Clyster came on his annual visitation to the village and immediately recognised the unique gifts The Saviour had bestowed upon Cedric. He persuaded Cedric's father with a bag of silver to let him take the boy to Clyster Abbey as an apprentice. Cedric spent several years there learning the ways of the True Faith Mendicant, including how to read and write in the ancient Bacchile tongue. Cedric is now 21 years old, and before he his made a full Friar he must undergo his Journeyman Trial - going out into the wider world to witness his faith, teach the Gospels, and glorifiy God and The Saviour.
Sir Osbeorn is a God fearing man, and Cedric met the Knight once at the Abbey. The Bishop has informed Cedric that Sir Osbeorn might provide him with the opportunity to strike out into the world. Cedric packs his meagre posessions and leave...
Ralasha, could I be a real pain and ask that you use a colour other than that lime green monstrosity for your dialogue? I just find it very hard to read, especially if I'm reading from my mobile.
If Cedric and the others want to exchange a few words in the yard, you can do so now, to get to know each other. Osbeorn and the old woman will be out shortly.
Bonivant, you do need to keep track of provisions, and you'll need to buy a waterskin. However, you're being given food enough for the journey, and a bedroll, so that you can buy any equipment you want (official only, and clear anything unusual with me). You'll no doubt end up with enough money from the first little adventure to feed yourself.
It doesn't seem like there is an equipment list in the quickstart, but I've got 17 florins. Could someone tell me how much provisions, water-skin, ect costs?
On another note, I'll be able to post today, tomorrow, and maybe once the day after that, and then I won't be able to post until next Saturday.
Don't forget to sleep on your backs. The barbarian finds women unimportant.

I don't think Conan would be able to have any attributes below 14. At least in so far as the books go, if he were a character in this game system.

It's mostly that he was SO EXCITED to have a REAL LIVE MONK in the party that he could care less about an old lady barking at him. And thank you Grail. How'd I miss that?
Edit: Sorry Ralasha, I thought your character was still getting equipment.
No problems. I just pay attention to what everyone says, and always expect others to do so as well.
My character has the best armor that I can get starting out. Which is the starting armor.

It isn't a D&D monk, it's more like... a catholic friar.

In my background, Ruarc is facinated by the True Faith, and by magic, and they are the main reasons he come to Albion-he wanted to learn more about them.
The Dragon Warriors Mystic resembles a cross between a Shaolin Monk and a Jedi Knight.
They are a good all-rounder when it comes to Combat and Magic, and can usually hold their own in most situations.
They are often slow burners to start, but are really formidable at higher ranks.
I am playing this True Faith Monk as having been given his gifts by the Grace of the The Saviour.
As a consequence, he does not view his abilities as occult in any way.
Cedric would be happy to educate Rourke in the finer points of the True Faith, if asked direct questions. Promise I won't preach
Like most of the professions, they're definitely open to interpretation. It could be a religious figure who seems to get their power from faith or meditation, whatever the religion or spiritual path, or it could be some sort of wild talent psychic. Like the Knight, anything you can think of that doesn't contradict what they're capable of in terms of rules is fine.
In DW, I think it works best if anything that seems to be divine can always also be explained by other means depending on who is experiencing it, either a different religion, or some yet-as-unknown metaphysical force. That's certainly how it's going to work in this particular iteration of the setting. There is no "correct" religion.
EDIT: I closed the recruitment thread for now, I think 4 players is about as many as I want to keep track of right now. If things are difficult, combat-wise, you can look for volunteers in civilised places, though they'll be of a rather poor quality. Just enough to tip the scales somewhat in your favour.
