Just trying to gauge interest right now. I tried running a big campaign last year and it floundered pretty quickly due to a lack of focus on my part. I want to get back into DMing, but to test the waters I want to find a group of players who would be willing to try some weird little adventures that have popped into my head over the last little while. Not all strictly one-shot deals, but more often than not. Stuff like a horror themed game where players are being hunted for sport by a powerful NPC, a Mortal Kombat themed tournament where all players are monks, basically just random ideas that are a little out there but would be fun to play a game or two of.

Interest. I'm not terribly well versed with 4e, but I at least know how to play the game. Not to mention I've had an acute lack of D&D in my life recently, so I'm fine with anything.

Mostly different characters, though depending on how different adventures go I may revisit certain groups of adventurers from time to time. The levels would vary from one adventure to the next as well. I'll throw out some ideas for the first adventure we do.
The players have been abducted by a powerful NPC who intends to hunt them for sport. Players start at 3rd level without any gear, but will find weapons and tools scattered around by the man who abducted them to give them a fighting chance. Difficult adventure but with a solid chance of survival if they work together.
The players are a team of doppelganger spies hired by an invading army to infiltrate a well-defended city and sabotage the defenders. Undecided on if this will be a simple trojan horse kinda thing where you guys get in and open the gate, or something more complex where you deceive and corrupt different nobles/ officers of the guard. Likely pretty RP heavy adventure. I'm not sure how easy this one would be to pull off but strikes me as a fun idea.
Players are a team of city watch investigators on the tail of a cell of terrorists who have been committing increasingly destructive and deadly attacks on different parts of the city. Think action movie, like fantasy Die-Hard. Players start at 3rd level. Blend of investigation and combat.
We can discuss more details once an adventure gets chosen, and if nobody really likes any of these I can put a few others up later on.

Yes, all through the forums here. Haha I should probably do up a big 16 but since I don't know the exact details of the adventure we'll be running I'd like to get it chosen before going more in-depth.

Fun! This would be a nice experiment to see how well 4e translates to PbP.
I've enough cute character concepts that I can take leftover roles:
Spoiler
- A guard who is looking for his kidnapped genie master, who may or may not understand that he could totally just count himself as free at this point (Warforged Defender with a build I already know)
- An enforcer who specializes in intimidation, with a skill check about a tier above where it should be (via being a Dragonborn Hexblade in a way I already know)
- The obligatory mind-control specialist (probably a witch)
- An ardent who thinks she's a rogue and forgot that spears don't work for sneak attacks anymore anyway (and yet, still pretty effective. 4e is weird like that)
EDIT: Of course, I don't mind making characters for specific scenarios either. Helps the creative process, you know.

The genie-less warforged is an awesome idea doc, I feel like the die-hard one would be the most suitable one for some of the characters being proposed but I think I only saw one person actually give an opinion, and he said either the manhunter adventure or ye olde die harde appealed to him. I'm pretty willing to just go with die hard but I would like to hear from everyone who is still interested to make sure we're doing something everyone agrees on.
EDIT: Also just had kind of a neat idea regarding the idea of keeping characters from one adventure to the next. Tarantino it, have all the adventures occur in the same universe, just at different times and involving different people. Some characters will appear in multiple adventures, some are only in the spotlight for one or two.
Then, once you have a couple of characters and a couple of adventures under your belt, I'll find out which characters you enjoyed playing as, and which characters you enjoyed playing with, and try and craft a storyline that brings them together to save the world or something.

One-shot sounds fun to me. I wouldn't mind throwing my hat in the mix. I, also, am open to playing whatever role that need to be filled. I have played every role and a good portion of the classes, so I am not against playing whatever needs to be done. I really want to try out this pixie race they have put out, though I don't know if I want to play a whole campaign with one, so a one-shot would be perfect!
Starting to get a couple of interested players now, if we get enough I'll split you into two parties and run two adventures. I heard someone mention they like the doppelgangers one and die hard is still getting the most love. It'd be kinda badass to have a unit of warforged detectives, maybe some sort of special investigations unit that benefits from the immunities you have as constructs.

Right now I count 11 interested, but haven't heard from woodzyowl for a few days so we're looking at 2 groups of 5. We can do this a few ways:
Have one group do the die hard adventure, the other group do a different adventure (probably most dangerous game but again haven't heard much feedback on MDG or the doppelgangers so it's up to you guys).
Have both groups do the die hard adventure independently, in which case the players will be randomly organized into groups (though requests to be with specific players can and will be accomdated to the best of my ability)
Have both groups doing the die hard quest at the same time in the same city, as different investigative teams. I will still be keeping both teams separate for the most part (you will have different leads on the case, be operating in different districts of the city, etc.) but have the possibility of running into each other and will essentially be 'racing' each other to the final encounter. If this is the case I would really like to try a party of warforged and then a party of whatever you guys want, because it gives me a cool narrative reason to keep the groups separate and allows for some interesting NPC interaction and the like.
I know a lot of you are saying you are interested in doing anything and I appreciate the flexibility, but it'd be awesome if you could just list which of these you want to do most and in what order so I can start organizing groups etc.

If we're doing Die-Hard, my preferance is 'Have both groups doing the die hard quest at the same time in the same city, as different investigative teams'.

It promises to be awesome
Ah, ok I get it now. Yes I agree with Vesth, combating groups investigating would make for some very good RP.
And TigerRush...I thought you disappeared or something. What happened to Merchants and King of Linlam, or my Nothnedrin?
The game stalled badly, and I had rl stuff going on for the last few months. I'm going to do an economics game soon, I just need a good system set up for it that isn't too math intensive on my end.
