So... is everyone in favour of Keylac's trap setting plan? If this is the case, perhaps TSM can do one of those time-passes-spells-prepared-ok-places-everyone-fight-starting-now kind of things...?
Perelia and Roen: I'd like either a response or an OOC post of "I haven't much to say". before I continue. if you guys are able, of course.
Also, if everyone votes for Neth's above-stated idea, it works for me. If not, that's cool too as I don't mind a leisurely pace.
TSM.
Sorry, I was moving into my dorm today, and it has been astoundingly hectic. I'll post tonight, as soon as I chase off all the damned people. I have too many friends.
I'm good with Key's plan. Doroga would be fine with any plan, he's more reactionary than filled with forethought (as his spell selection will be, when he gets to make one, probably much to Perelia's fustration ).
At the moment, Doroga is just trying to make a place for himself in this situation. To his mind, he just told Herlam he would help him remove the curse. It would be poor form if he let the old man die less than a day after he made his promise.

I'm pretty sure I agree with my plan, though I'm never really sure. I wouldn't object to a time warp that takes us from going to bed to shortly before the next sunset, though I'd like to get some shopping (stuff to sell) and a couple other errands done during the time warp.
In any case, the next time I'll be able to post is Wednesday afternoon, so maybe Neth will have finished torturing the Thayan by then and I can post "Da Plan".
Oh and Roen, you should totally convince Noristour to take on that young moron as an apprentice, Elminster style. Maybe he can teach him how not to be an idiot.
- Cheers, Key

God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players (i.e. everyone), to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.
Next post will take you guys into the early morning tomorrow. Arhlo, who makes a good amount of money with his two businesses, will agree to buy up anything you guys have got (shopping can be done after the story bit in the morning). I will describe the rest of the interrogation and NPC interaction as per the party's general intentions as I see them. Perelia will finally receive spells from Noristuor as well.
In the morning, some stuff will happen. Two things, actually. Then another time warp for shopping and helping with siege preparations (montage time! ). Then we'll get straight into the thick of things with the drow, barring any big interactions that come up and need to be written out in full.
The first time warp (the one that will take you to the morning) will be posted either early afternoon tomorrow or very, very late tomorrow night. This will give you guys time to post COMPLETE LISTS of everything you'd like to sell (in this thread) and anything important you really needed to communicate to any NPCs before the next day dawns (in IC thread).
Let me know if this sounds good, either by screaming ululating war-cries at me or answering with the above requested info.
And I've been here less than 4 hours and I'm already complaining! A new record! Yay!

Note: If Roen makes a commotion instead of investigating all stealthy-like, everyone can roleplay waking up instantly save for Ryn and Groban, who not only are on another floor, but are hung over as hell. [/spoiler]
There's just one tiny little thing I think you forgot. I don't sleep. From my character sheet:
Quote:
- Ryn doesn't sleep on a normal night. His Ring of Sustenance allows him to only sleep for 2 hours a day, so he tends to take little cat naps whenever he can, including in the saddle.
Given my choice, I would have stayed up all night, either in the inns common room or up on the roof. Course, this day isn't normal, so it would make sense for me to have actually crashed for 2 full hours. That puts me awake... 6 hours ago.
That doesn't mean I heard anything of course. It's just something to keep in mind in the future.
- Cheers, Key
P.S. - Loots
Spoiler
I went ahead and did some math. Here's the complete list of the loot, with the regular 50% we get for selling it. I separated the stuff I figure people want - or that we should keep anyways. If there's something else you guys want, just say so and I'll strike it from the list.

Neth - Potion of Delay Poison

Reason: Looot Lisssttt
And here's "Ryn's Plan" before any modifications. Sorry for the double post, but I figured it needed it's own.
Step 1: In the morning, the towns leaders tell everyone about the drow and their threat. They inform the town that they wont give up the old man to cowardly drow threats, but defending the town is the priority. They rally the townsfolk, get them working on the defenses.
Step 2: They bring together a small band of their most loyal soldiers - plus Faud the Scar. They tell them all that they're being chosen because of their skills and loyalty. This group is informed that Herlam, his daughter, and the book are being moved to the White Hart Inn in a few hours, and they're going to be posted there to protect them.
Step 3: Once no one else is around, they tell the group that they're actually going to abandon Herlam as soon as the sun sets. Unfortunately for poor old Herlam, it's not worth risking all the death that trying to fight the drow would bring, so as soon as the sun sets, they're to abandon the inn and cross the river. The drow, when they move in, will surely find Herlam and his daughter and leave the rest of the town alone. A hard sacrifice, but a necessary one.
Step 4: The mercenaries/guards/townsfolk spend the rest of the day evacuating the other side of the river (the West, I think) and getting the populated side ready to fight the drow.
Step 5: When it's time to move Herlam, Perellia and Roen (using a spell/hat) disguise themselves as Herlam and Daurily and are moved to the White Hart. Before she goes, Perellia uses illusions to make it look like they're still in the inn. Neth, Doroga, and Ryn transfer (openly) to defend Noristour's tower. Groban stays at the Arms, with Herlam and Daurily, hidden in the wine cellar.
Step 6: Noristour casts invisibility on Ryn, Neth, Doroga, and we move stealthily to the White Hart, slipping inside (maybe "Daurily" can go upstairs and open a window and leave a rope). Everyone remains hidden/in disguise.
Step 7: The sun sets, the town gets into position, the group at the White Hart retreats, as per their orders, abandoning "Herlam" and "Daurily."
Step 8: The drow, helpfully informed by their spy in the hours they gave him to do so, move into the inn to secure Daurily and Herlam.
Step 9: Pain.
Step 10: Loot the drow corpses, interrogate Faud, hang him, loot his corpse. Profit.

Hey, all. I'm really sorry I've been so slow to post. This is my last week of my summer job, I go back to college next week, and my family is already packing to move out of our house of fifteen years at the beginning of next summer. Between vast amounts of official and unofficial work and my emotional state looking like a heart monitor, I've fallen behind on posting. Please accept this haiku as means of apology.
RaggedAngel's cry
Startles the other lab folks
And brings on strange looks
Though Roen is the only one in-action right now, anyone else awake can move about as they please - just not with any knowledge of the sound. Doroga has a 50% chance of waking up now, as it is morning anyway. DW, feel free to roll this whenever you like. If under 50 you wake up, if over you stay sleeping until something wakes you up.
I got some clarification from TSM, only because I was unsure about it after Keylac had pointed out that Ryn wouldn't have slept, or necessarily been in his room at all. TSM explained to me that's why Doroga was the only one left asleep. And he also confirmed that since Ryn may not have wanted to retire to a chamber at all, he could be currently in any part of the building he chooses, and act from there. Though I guess without having heard The Sound.
I like the loot suggestions, and I think the plan will be a source of great fun. TSM also directed me to a spell compendium where I can choose more interesting spells than the player's handbook alone, so I will go do that presently, and hopefully pick some that might help our upcoming escapade.
I have decided on Perelia's spell layout, and I will post her preparations and meditation in character tomorrow. She's focusing on spells that do not allow Spell Resistance tomorrow and on combat spells, for obvious reasons. She did leave room for a Disguise Self, however, and she will go along with that portion of the plan.

If that's the case, I'll just be kicking back in the common room, feet up on a table, maintaining my gear.

Quick IC post from work just now. More when I get home later tonight!
TSM.
(Gonna try to do this bit as fast as possible, on account of how itchy everyone is to face the drow...)
Just a note that I'm currently writing a big IC post; if you would wait until I get it up to post, I'd be very appreciative. I decided to give you all a little insight into Perelia's mind and her magic.
It's probably mostly my fault, for which I again apologize.
I feel I may be partially at fault for shoving an enormous IC post down everyone's throats. I was mostly waiting to hear if there was anything outside Perelia's window before having her leave the room; you did say "check your windows" instead of "come help me", you know.
Perelia: I like how you described the wizardly preparations. Reminds me somewhat of the sorcerous techniques from the Prince of Nothing novels (which, if you guys haven't read, you might just wanna!)
Anyhow, Neth's away for a few days but has pretty regular internet access I think. We should be able to get the ball rolling faster again. There will be no giving up or neglect on my end! I swear it!
TSM.
EDIT: Also wanted to remind EVERYONE to check out Keylac's super-awesome loot calculations above and make sure everything is noted properly on your sheets. If you've already done this, you get a cookie.
I have several questions about the spellbook that Perelia obtained, the better to use it with.
1. What is the cover made out of? Leather, wood, metal? Does it have a slipcase?
2. What are the pages made out of? Parchement, linen, vellum?
3. How many spells are in it? Or, rather, how many pages are used (discounting 0th level spells)?
4. Complete Arcane give rules for mastering another's spellbook, which involves a truly enormous amount of time. Is there any chance that we could discuss alternate rules for mastering another's spellbook?
5. Perelia can take 10 on Spellcraft for a 23, which is enough to decipher any spell level 3 or below (just for knowing what it is, not for copying or preparing). What spells are in the book?
Just so folks know (since I've been a bit quiet the last couple of days) I'm still checking the thread, and reading it with interest. I'm simply not posting, since I don't feel like describing Ryn's valiant struggle against his morning coffee.
Though I look forward to (if I don't hear anything before this) walking upstairs after the fight with my mug and inquiring if folk are ever going to get up.
- cheers, Key

Posted! (Sorry for the overly descriptive IC post. Wanted to see how many ways I could describe the Darkness that Perelia casted a missile of magic at.)
Thank you for the reassurance, Key. Your proposed aftermath investigation sounds hilarious. I love that, in the name of humour, coffee (in a quantum spasm of ad-hoc appropriateness) found its way into the Realms this morning... It is a truly wondrous fairy-tale land of miracles and ponies...
...or perhaps it was imported from Maztica?
Ragged: I shall give you all the info you need regarding the spellbook very, very shortly. Rest assured that I don't intend to follow the rules for mastery time as written in CA, though the idea will be the same. Will also make sure to give you the requested details. I like wizardy stuff. *resounding nerd-snort*

I'm a very happy player right now. I, too, like vaguely obscure references and wizardly stuff.
Yes, the internet way out here seems to be even more reliable than the phone service.
But I don't have a heck of a lot of time to myself, and am without a single spare moment during most hours of the day.
I will be better at posting upon my return this weekend.
I'm very glad no one will be waiting on my character to act for the next little bit.
Good luck with those creepy shadow creeps. Wish I wasn't missing all the fun.
So it looks like you guys go first in initiative! Do it up!!!
I just need the results of those Knowledges before I can blast away. I'd hate to use Magic Missile on something when a Dawnburst would work far better.
