So, what have I learned today? I've learned that if I look at a map... I should take the time to bloedy well *look* at the map.

*sigh* Thanks for pointing that out, I'll go ahead and fix that part.

Haha, well at least you know about things like tack. My poor pony. I probably didn't even take it off him if I didn't know what it was, or what I was supposed to do with it. Perhaps I should have put less skill points in Handle Animal and more in Knowledge (Common Sense).

The stable-hand would have done it if you didn't, so no worries there. Though I love the fact that you're not using a bit or bridle; you're a druid, the pony probably just does what you want it to. Makes a great little detail. Or, maybe you just forgot it. Either way.

I'm going to hijack our young Uthgardt friend for a moment for an amusing transitional post. Hope that's okay.

I'll try to keep to the attitude of a young Uthgardt warrior (Drizzit books, don't fail me now), I just wasn't sure how I could run this without going back and forth half a dozen times for what will basically end up with both the Uthgardt and I at the Inn.

One note before I go to work for the day: TheDivineWind: Hilarious moment with the Uthgardt, though I'm afraid Kord, like Boccob, does not exist relative to the Realms!

Hate to be a stickler for that sort of thing... but, y'know... setting and all that.

More postage when I return!

Hey, all. Just wanted to let you know that my posting will be spotty for a couple of days. My family is driving down to Mesa Verde, and I'm not sure how much internet access our hotels will have. I'll do my best to keep up or catch up, whichever is needed. I do apologize for any trouble caused, and will be back to full posting efficiency soon.

No problem sir. Lemme know when things are back on track for you, if you can.

Until then, maybe just post the bare essentials of what Roen does, whenever it happens to be possible.

Have fun doing whatever it is you're doing in Mesa Verde!

Hmm... just wondering, now that things are beginning to pick up momentum, what shall we do about posting lag? I'm never in a huge hurry myself, but between us we seem to be posting a good amount. If combat breaks out, it might be awkward if Initiative order is slowed due to different posting speeds. This, as I'm sure you all know, is one of the curses of PbP gaming, and is certainly not unique to this campaign.

Key and TheDivineWind probably post most regularly, with Neth just behind them. For the time being it seems that Ragged and Dragonsong have a slower posting rate. Again, not a criticism by any means, just an observation: so, any suggestions from you two about anything I can do to help for the next little bit? If you'd like me to - in any particular situation - NPC your chars (after letting me know your intentions of course) that's a-okay with me. It's also not something I'll do without your consent(s), so no worries there.

Also, please check out the first post in this thread! I've updated NPCs, maps, PC descriptions, and, most importantly, added some stuff to the House Rules section about how combat will work when it comes to that.

Thanks folks!

Could always roll the monsters, average them out, and then let everyone who rolled more then that go in whatever order they choose first, then the monsters, then the ones who rolled less.

TSM currently chopping garlic for curry dinner. I have been asked to say that he likes this idea of yours very, very much.

Well I'll be in many more delayed periods too when my work picks up. And personally I don't mind waiting when things slow down. There's no rush, right?

I don't mind slowing down for battle so everyone can keep up, but I also don't mind using shortcuts to keep the game flowing. As long as we don't grind to a stop or to 1/week posting like some other games I've had the pleasure of participating in, I'm happy!

Honestly, I'm working on my masters thesis, so I crave distractions. Hence my high post rate.

40 PAGES, WHAT WHAT?!!

Mr. Dragonsong: I believe I tried to clarify this earlier as well, but the drow are attacking tomorrow night, rather than tonight. Tonight, the party's concerns are the meeting with Herlam, the presence of Thayan Red Wizards, and the implications of Herlam's "wanted" status. Tomorrow, the drow and what ever else comes up.

As I believe I said before, I am sorry if it was my IC posts that confused you. Just wanna make sure Roen is aware of all the details! Feel free to leave your last IC post the way it is, and we can just move forward as if you gave the correct info. Daurily can be all like, "A drow attack tomorrow night, you say!?"

Sorry for the gripe! And may I say, sir, that your last post, as with all others, have been extremely well written?

IN FACT, that goes for everyone in the game. Tonight, when the PCs are going to bed, there shall be extra XP just for posting quality (along with XP for all the other stuff you guys get/got up to, of course).

TSM.

So, I note that the drow are not coming tonight, but tomorrow.

Perelia does not have that OOC knowledge, however, and Roen seemed to make it pretty clear that they would be attacking tonight. I will edit my IC post to reflect them coming tomorrow, and gladly, but only if Roen's words do not make it sound as if they are coming any minute.

EDIT- Ah, I see where you told us to pretend that Roen gave the correct information. I edited my IC post to reflect this.

Here's a tactical map, also linked to in the first OOC post and the first IC post of the combat.

Okay; Perelia moves towards them close enough to fire off the Grease spell. My mental image of the place was much smaller, so I figured I'd barely have enough room to fit it in there, much less be out of range.

Also, hurray, I instigated a fight! That's good, right?

Probably. I was debating starting it, but (except for the missiles to the face) I prefer that you did. You made it sound noble and logical. I was just gonna just plop down at their table and ask why their acting like such pricks that everyone's afraid of them.

Yeah, I like it this way, because they're the aggressors. We have every moral right to attack back; and for people with looser morality, like Perelia, it's an excuse to put them down for good so that she doesn't have to deal with them and their schemes later.

EDIT: Yes I also like the way things keep unfolding. The personalities of everyone's character is very interesting and should make for many comical predicaments.

Bah. My rolls didn't go so well.

As far as tactics go though, I'm attempting (or was attempting anyways) to put the leader down fast enough that the other(s) just surrender. Then we can... talk. I vote for Roen as Interrogator, while Doroga and I threaten to pull his arms off, and Groban scowls and mutters about how the only good mage is a dead mage. Neth and Perellia can have a glass of wine while calmly discussing the finer points of using human entrails for magical components. Not that we would harm him of course, being good people. *pious look*

On that note, which one is the older guy? The map doesn't indicate which one the elder is. I ask because, assuming R3 doesn't move, he will be the only one I can reach once it's my turn, and I think I would like to surprise the eldest since you have all kindly gotten their attention.

Dear lord, that was silly. I'm very, very sorry for the mistake. I don't know quite how I managed it, but I will do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again. I've edited my post; again, apologies.

On the bright side, I do seem to have some internet access out here, so I'll be able to post at least a little.

As far as I can tell, R1 is the leader, R2 is the female red wizard, and R3 is the young one. Try not to stick him too badly, though beating him about the head a bit would be nice. He's apparently the most terrified already, so less work later.

Posted Thayans' actions! Also Key is correct: R1 is the ringleader, R2 is the wizardess and R3 is the bumbling dunce.

Also, have fun with Gnolls and a Thayan Knight! *wanders off grumbling about Grease and mage HP*

Oh, and Dragonsong, what was the silliness to which you refer? The drow attack thing? If so, now worries! I ain't no stickler. Just like to make sure everyone knows what's up.

Also, your torture tactics sound fantastic. Lets hope it comes to that.... Did I just type that?
