But as wonderously awesome as most of that list sounds, Day doesn't look too enthused. While Clarissa's been listing off the console's repertoire of wonders, his normally pallid skin tone has steadily lost even more pigment, leaving him looking white as a sheet and quite frankly terrified. "Aw ****."
"Okay, we gotta go right now!" Vaulting from his chair so fast it goes spinning away and chucking the controller aside, Day grabs for Clarissa's arm, trying to pull her to her feet and towards the door. "He's really angry right now so you should be ready to get yelled at and insulted so just try to look professional and cold and probably less pretty would be good too!"
[Fortress Mountain]
((Gah! Sorry! Missed this!))
Eep! Where's the fire? Where are the screaming and crying civilians? Where are the sirens? This is the quietest air raid in the history of histor-
Waitaminute. That's no air raid! 'S just Riv. Oh no. Oh no! That's even worse! Worse I tell you! Panic! Panic, panic, panic!
Clarissa is pulled to her feet! Mini-Clarissa attempts to recline and lounge on Day's shoulder.
Clarissa herself will not resist being escorted out of the door by Day.
"Why is Riv so angry? Is it something I did or did his newest toy malfunction? Is he chocolate intolerant? That'd make me angrier than anyone in the fort if I suffered from a horrible affliction like that!"
"I dunno, he just is. And I really wasn't supposed to let you in here either!" Day says, grabbing on to the railings for support as the docking clamps disengage, gravity sending the lift for a short drop then an abrupt stop as it hits the end of it's chain and settles into a steady downward rattle. "Some people have reasons, he has excuses."
The journey back to entrance level is distressingly faster than the one up, giving the two of them barely any time at all before they find themselves face to face with the ugliest face in the Nexus. "What the **** do you think you're doing in here?" He demands, arms crossed, the two soldiers standing behind them doing their best to imitate a similar level of anger.

"Why, whatever are you asking me that question for? Aren't you supposed to be the smart one out of us two?"
Clarissa smirks. She's of the opinion that Riv needs to ingest a chill pill like yesterday. She doesn't want to play ball unless Riv plays nice. The game must be fair! Or stacked in Clarissa's favor. Yeah. Clarissa could work with that too.
"Mmmm! You're really boiling temperature-wise and temper-wise, aren't you? Wrath just loves it! It's delicious!"
Clarissa attempts to trace a line from the tip of her chin to the center of her midsection to illustrate her point. She welcomes his anger. It is an emotion that she can connect to and harness as energy.
"It was rhetorical, you ***." Clarissa's mocking goes over as well as can be expected. Not well. Riv's lip twists up into a sneer, face going positively livid with rage. He waves a hand and the soldiers take aim, their stance leaving no doubts as to whether they'll go through with the threat. "The right answer is to get the hell out, now, before bullets start flying."
And Day? Day's doing his best to hide behind Clarissa, tugging on her arm desperately in an attempt to warn her of just how bad she's making this. Right now, he'd give about anything to sink under the floor, through the crust and down into the molten core of the earth, because nothing less than a planet between them would stop the glare Riv's fixing him with.

What about one of Moe's famous eye pokes? That'd put an end to Riv's evil mcevil glare of malevolence, I'd bet!
Clarissa smiles at Riv and shakes her head critically from left to right, more than a little disappointed with him. She logs what made Prometheus into the distant, socially-impaired, mean jerk he was! He was raised in an broken household without the love of a parent or a friend or any other creature.
"You know as well as I do that Prometheus is on ice. He's dying ever so slowly and you can't do a thing to stop it. I'm here and I offered to help him out and here you are kicking an asset Prometheus can't live without to the curb. Do your men love you or Prometheus more? Will they die for daddy or live for their brother? Do I care? Not really. 'S your mistake to make, bud."
Evil has been fractured and scattered in the Nexus. That's why it is defeated every day without fail. But if the villains were all willing to cooperate with one another in a glorious stand against the forces of good, they would defeat the good and drive the do-gooders off! That was Clarissa's secondary objective in visiting the mountain today. Curiosity first then healing. But that's not working out so...
"I'll leave. I'll leave on one condition. You sign and initial a hellishly binding contract that spells out point-by-point how you are to care for Day and any other children or soldiers in your care. I'm open to negotiation, so long as you agree to treat these people like people and not as tools or possessions!"
"If we ever set our sights on conquering this world, you're going to desire troops who can function in the real world. That's what'll make you or break you. Riverside is weak and ripe for the taking. It could be our's if we worked together to occupy it. You. Me. The Association. Magtok. The Dalachrechians. Umbrella. Maybe even MURDER."
"If we pool our resources and stand united, we can do this, Riv!"
Yep. Clarissa is building contacts to work toward making inroads into Riverside/Inside. She wants to capture a city/sector of a city where evil rules and good drools!
Not hardly. Riv kicked Prometheus out the door when he was given the boot from AMEN. They were within speaking distance of each other for maybe three minutes. What made Prometheus into the angry, sullen person he is was something a little different, although still attributable to Riv.
"Oh, wow! You're right! I totally see the error of my ways and will never be mean to my minions again!" Clapping his hands to his face in the pose made famous by the despicable Home Alone series, Riv sneers at Clarissa in a mock sing-song voice. Expecting to win him over with any speech even mentioning love or human dignity or the power of friendship, well, it wasn't Clarissa's first mistake of this negotiation by a longshot, but it was certainly one of the worst.
"Screw you. Screw whatever makes you think you can walk in here and tell me what to do. This is my temple and I am a god, surrounded by my faithful flock, who, yes, answer to me above any chewed-up corpse! The falsetto's been dropped now in favor of the usual nasal screech, spittle flying with each added emphasis.
"You think I care about you? About a failed experiment? About any of the dumb bull you're spitting out? I don't. So if you want my help for your petty conquest or want me to treat these poor widdle supersoldiers better or whatever the hell you're here about, you can drop the cutesy-wutesy bull and get it in your damn head that I am in charge here!" At least he hasn't had his men open fire. Yet. That's a good sign. Maybe. If there's anything good about this situation at all.

Maeve smiles as well, and kisses her forehead, nodding.
"Alright... You still feel like doing something, or does this work for you for now?"

"Yeah, what he said," Gelley agrees, trying to twist the satyr's arm behind his back and then shove him roughly toward the front door. Then she sees what Vierzt is holding. "Whoah, Vierzt! No need for the ordinance, man! It's all under control."

In a dream I found a place
of rotting meat and eldritch grace
and looked upon his primordial face
and from my thoughts could not erase
that sense of time that sense of space
and my heart the darkness did embrace.

Here's nice...
I could do with an explanation of this whole "sex" thing people are so interested in. Beyond its procreative functions I mean.

Maeve explains as best she can, nestling against her friend.

The satyr is shoved, and topples painfully out of the tree.
Vierzt sighs and crashes on the couch, still cradling the rifle. Sorry.

This is the thief who likes to hoard,
That loves the bard with the puppet Lord
That admires the fighter with the green-hilted sword,
That employs the Wizard, whose bird is ignored,
That has the gender unexplored
That intrigues the Halfling, usually bored,
That slew a mountain of the goblin horde,
That follows the cleric,
That serves the lich,
That seeks the gate,
That guards the snarl,
That lives in the prison the gods built.
Maeve seems quite happy as well, not stopping for quite a long time, unless Khair does something to interrupt.
"Love you, Khair..."

Maeve keeps drawing it out for a while, then, though she dozes off herself eventually, a faint smile on her face despite the borrowed pain.

"I'm glad you could too... You up for some lunch*, or maybe heading out somewhere?"
*((Or whatever meal would be appropriate for the time of day, if they've slept long enough to need to eat again.))
