Have you ever watched The Godfather? As long as you don't start killing people, most places are fine with (or even subtly encourage) organized crime. Stick to breaking vice laws and no one gets mad. It's part of why in the early 20's, most major criminal orgs didn't get into drug running: it was too overt and drew attention to you. Luckily for you, it doesn't seem to be as violent an activity in this city.

I've checked in advance to see who my bedfellows would be. If Peacocks were brutal mobsters, I'd either left them alone or saw them removed.

I learned two things about Montgomery that day... ...The first was that his men would follow him off a cliff. The second was that he would lead them there.
My objective for this game was rather simple. Create a faction that would be unlikely to ally with anyone, then start raising hell. Be blatant, aggressive, populist and annoying. Part of the plan was to spy on everyone's secrets and publish them in the paper, but I haven't got to that yet.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse,” I said, sounding calm, probably inaudible in the midst of the screaming. “Inevitable. Wasn’t that how she put it? I told them. Warned them.”
-Taylor Hebert. Yes, I'm a proud Skittle.

See, after a dozen games, I have realized two things.
I like factions with a high espionage rating very much. There's nothing I like more than making crazy plans, getting other people to fight each other before picking up the pieces and still look like the good guy, or just being an information broker or infiltrator or traitor.
However, in the past I had the problem that many of those factions would have little contact with anyone else. If all your ingame actions are hidden, people forget that you are even there. You get no diplomacy, no fun ingame posts.
So I made a faction that is both very loud and obvious and sneaky with high espionage.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse,” I said, sounding calm, probably inaudible in the midst of the screaming. “Inevitable. Wasn’t that how she put it? I told them. Warned them.”

On an unrelated note, some questions about the way the world is laid out reminded me that I had a map of the world lying around. You can find it in the Fluff post of the OOC (second post), or just follow this handy link. Be warned: the file size is huge, and it will probably take a long time to load fully.
Uh, where is Sav Altuas, and how are the Shattered Lands divided into Talidor and those other sections
I'm not entirely sure yet. I've always thought of Sav Altulas as being somewhat near the mountains, but that's about as far as I've got. I'll put together a more detailed map of the Shattered Lands and surroundings at some point. I just thought that this old map might give a better idea of where things are in a general sense.
Are the City Council discussions secret? If yes, how secret? No one's labelling them. It's not unlikely that they are all between VIPs, so I thought I'd ask first before reading them and adding them to my notebook.

I've been assuming they have 0 EspD. Why would anyone want to keep them secret?
Anyway. I sort of wish I was a noble, now - it'd make for some pretty good roleplay right now, because I have the urge to respond to several statements about nobility lately.

I think I'll just stick a poster or two to the parliament's doors, then. "You know we are listening to this, right? Why are you discussing action against us openly?"

Do nobles have any special priviliges in the city? Or are they just wealthy people with fancy titles?

Why would we not discuss it openly? We have nothing to hide.

Oh its an open meeting? I thought it was a, we meet, let people in to say their peace, then discuss sort of thing. I don't... really care either way, we just have to watch the language used if anyone can just waltz in.

Then it's a good thing Greystone can KICK REASON TO THE CURB AND GO BEYOND THE IMPOSSIBLE!
I think that the meeting should be open to all, though of course only the council members can vote to take action. how else are we going to prove that we're here for the entire city unless they can all see that we aren't plotting against them?
Except for the blackfists. We're definitely gonna plot against them.

Well, the ESPD is the lowest of any of its members, which I think would be the Champions of Sovernty with 2 right now. I doubt theres a faction that can't read that.

Annoying Tong, beating up my people.
At least their can be no doubt they need to be destroyed.

The Gears Chosen have been preeety vocal about building a war macheine to use against us. Technorelgious diffrences and all. We'd like the plans, so we know how to counter it. Nothing agressive, nothing moraly questionable. And you might steal a copy for yourself...
