Finding Players (Recruitment)Look for players for chatroom, play-by-post, or even real-life games here. Threads will expire after 3 months, so be sure to move important information to your OOC thread.
Hmm, honestly I've tried a few other forums and just don't really like the feel of them as much. The truth of the matter is that if you want a reliable game you have to get a DM, some interested players, and tell them that it won't die. Then all that's left is constantly bugging all your players with an endless stream of PMs bugging them to post.
Amen to that.

The longest running games I've been in have been using edupad to keep communicating even during slow patches, so that's a thought. Also makes keeping notes on the campaign easier.
When Matcorp encounters a problem, they have a escalting system of blowing the other side up. Starting with the O.ffensive R.avager C.ommando, or ORC, to the very impressive Gattling Golem, Mattcorp always found new ways to blast the other side to simthereens. But then, the CEO thought of something. Trolls pocessed massive untaped potential. Why not use them for the Spell-borg program? Why not create the MATT's?
The Growth Phase
Spoiler
Of course, natturaly born Trolls would not be completely loyal to the company. So the Xenoalchemists, Meddiceeners, and Progenitiors were tasked with upgrading cloning Vats to acomadate special forms of troll. And they where sucessful. The trolls so created had vastly superior physical and mental abillities, and reamined loyal to their creators. After intial training and testing, the agumanting phase began.
The Agumenting Phase
Spoiler
The next to last step of the program, each of the MATT's where operated on and had arcane items spliced into their physiology. These devices firther increased their physical toughness and capabillities, and removed many of the remaining weaknesses of the flesh. Even with their advanced regenitive abillities, many of them did not make it. However, the time would soon come that would establish them as weapons of war.
Mission Phase
Spoiler
MATT-0291/HA-03 , one of the more infamous of the Heavy Assult Core's third division, has long been reguarded as little more then a engine of destrction. While it's offensive aguments were lacking, it pocessed something else. This model was orginaly planed for incredibly heavy combat operations, that other models didn't have the sheer toughness to survive in. Nearly unkillable, it never stoped, never asked for mercy, and never left anything, down to the last blade of grass, alive in acombat zone. But, it also was starting to overcome the mental inhibitors placed on the models to control them. Soon, everywhere was looking like a combat zone.
Retrofitting and upgrading
Spoiler
When these tencinces where noted, 0291/HA-03 was brought in for retrofitting. However, the CEO determined that he needed at least one fully functional operating agent, and disabled the inhibitor. But he did not relquish control. 0291/-HA-03 was realeased, and with a increased restraint mechanisim for the brain. Now, fully in control of it's actions, YSMIR hopes to test himself in new warzones and other less violent occupations.

-Taylor Hebert. Yes, I'm a proud Skittle.
I've been starting to formulate background for my character but hit a brick wall.
Almost all epic stuff published involves magic somehow.
I suppose my one piece of homebrew could make me a Medic one side, I take Factotum another and for my last side I take Warblade, which would give me a fairly Int focused build that could do a variety of things.
I always find background for high level characters difficult since I think I should include what he did to get there but find it hard to write something and I am worried it will overshadow what happens IC.

My one homebrew is probably gonna be the magister class, with archivist on the other side, and factotum for the third side if we are doing tristalt (just so I can keep my knowledge [all] skill maxed).

Yup an remember there's always refluffing. (For example: alien cyborg, an toss in pseudo-natural for kicks. )
Ya, but me idea is a War Troll taken to the ultimate form. He wants to become the ultimate weapon, the ultimate expression of applied force. So how to do that? Train to the hilt (The Perfectionist side), grow his own troll abillities (The Troll line), Master the forces of slaughter (Death Knight base class), replace most of his body with golem parts, and learn how to use his armor even better (Plated guard).
The end result? A massive troll thing that refuses to die. That can walk into world sized combat zones and wreck havoc. One that has no limits to how much they will sacrifice for pure power. How's that sound

Ya, I know. I tend to get carried away. Still, will submit 'em, and the Death knight is basicly a WoW themed crusader.
I'm a personal fan of the Dread champion myself for undead psionic fighters (turning immunity anyone ? :P). Although the Grim psion is neat to with the crystal your mind retreats to from anywhere if your body dies (basically a phylacraty) while you search for another humanoid host (any humanoid mind you, which means you can probably go find some beefy monstrous humanoid with better physical stats and natural armor :P)

Well mechanically I know a few ways, I just mean that the "ultimate soldier" especially if you add "gone rogue" is way way overused as a concept... I mean seriously three out of my first eight evil characters to DM were exactly that, and you could have counted more, those were just the ones that were exactly that.
I have not gone rogue. But still, what is the ultimate testing ground? Where your first mistake will be your last? Besides, you doesn't want to play a weaponized cyberntic troll
And, can even further the cold theme The four Construction traits I'd pick (Golem types); Ice, Juggernaut, Black Ice and Tellene Ice.
Winter is going to war

Klipklop the Conquerer
Spoiler
The Saga of Klipklop (As told by Deekin) - Klipklop began life as many kobolds do, in a dark smelly cave with rocks being thrown at him. However from his first steps there was no doubt he'd been destined for greatness, no ordained by the gods for it!
For Klipklop didn't take kindly to the rock throwing, and caught the first one that came rocketing towards his tiny head. Staring for a moment at the rugged piece of broken earth, he gave a glare across the cave towards it's thrower, a much larger kobold rolling with laughter as rocks rained down around him on his new kin. Klip was not pleased by what he saw, and with a mighty swing of his twig sized arm he hurled the rock right back from whence it came, splattering the head of that particular kobold all over the adjacent wall.
This came as quite a surprise to the other older kobolds of the group, as they gazed upon this little runt who'd made such a big mess with awe. An elder shaman of the group came down, and said to the young kobold "You shall be called Klipklop, and it's your destiny to elevate the status of all kobold kind in this world to demand respect from all the other races!"
After many years on this campaign however, it all seemed to be coming to a close, Kobold kind had become respected all across the land(or, at least feared). But Klipklop was once again approached by the same shaman that had come to him so may years ago in that smelly cave to say...
"Mighty Klipklop, you have done what none thought possible, a truly remarkable deed. However you're work has only yet begun, for this world is only one in an infinite sea, there are innumerable worlds and strange places for you to find and explore. For if we kobolds wish to ascend to the greatness of the grand beings we revere, we must work to become worthy in more then this one world. And should we find kobolds elsewhere, we shall help elevate them from the folly of their potentially misspent lives toiling over meaningless drivel. "
And with that Klipklop began his journey across the cosmos, to continue what he'd started in what seemed to be a never ending quest for the immortality and prestige of kobolds everywhere.

OK, I'm not the best at DMing, but I'll give it a go.
Spoiler
1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?
D&D 3.5 2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)?
Crazy-powered sandbox. 3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?
I'll be taking the six that seem closest to each other in power. 4. What's the gaming medium (OOTS, chat, e-mail etc.)?
Here. 5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?
30 6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
WBL (4,300,000 gp value) 7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?
Homebrew: NO. Seriously, NO. I'm going to have enough to go through as it is. 8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?
Go nuts. 9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
32 point buy. 10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
Yes. None. 11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?
No. 12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?
Forum roller. 13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.
Yes.
1) Gestalt.
2) Fractional BAB & Saves
3) Level 30 is a hard cap. Nothing you do will get you past it (you'll still earn XP, but it can only be used for crafting, spell components, and the like).
4) Multiclasing penalties apply as normal, however: You'll never level up to 31st. Ever. So really, multiclassing madness just reduces how quickly you can make magic items.
5) Anything I deem to be an infinite loop is not permitted.
6) Epic Spellcasting is banned. 14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?
You need at least one full sentence per level (30). No concrete upper limit, but if it gets me bored, you're not in. 15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?
I hate puzzles in RPGs with the burning passion of a thousand fiery suns. If you run across a blatant puzzle, the solution will generally be to blow it into little itty bitty pieces. Otherwise, this is a sandbox. The world will be made by me as you encounter it or ask about it via Knowledge checks. 16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?
You may only pick one setting to draw from - so if you're playing an Artificer (Eberron setting specific), you can't also draw from things that are faerun-setting specific (such as the Dread Warrior undead template).
Dragon Magazine material is used only with specific approval.
Pathfinder material may be imported, one item at a time, by way of an Epic level non-bonus feat (one feat per thing). So if you're undead, you can burn a feat to import Pathfinder's undead type for yourself, for instance (thus netting you Charisma to fort saves and HP). This does not apply to the very basic stuff, such as your feat acquisition rate.

Requesting the mystic ranger, I can't remember what dragon it's in but it is in this thread on the page I linked as well.

@Jack_Simth: Would the feat tax for Pathfinder imports include stuff like the PF Monk?
Would it be (for example) 1 feat to take PF Monk and 1 feat per archetype?

Excellent! Thank you very much for agreeing to dm! (although I'm not sure how I feel about a complete nix on homebrew- it sorta hurts my concept to not be allowed the one single hombrewed thing I was planning on using)
My build will probably be something like wizard 25/archmage 5//archivist of boccob lots/some divine prc.

Awesome a DM. Without homebrew I will probably go psion / full bab stuff with damage reduction.
If I do choose to take a pathfinder base class does that simply cost one feat? Are pathfinder base classes even an option?
Hmm, no homebrew hurts, but I am currently trying to remember my concept, so I'm probably good without it. Anywho guess I'll ask if we're allowed advanced template. I know pathfinder can get a bit sillier at some points, so figure I should check.
Hmmm, now that there's a DM, i'll post interest. I've got a few concepts to mull over, so i won't be posting just what i'll be trying to play yet. It'll come eventually though. I promise.
