Edited my IC post to let Anoush better get his point across. That is, to stay out of the wilderness at night if traveling as a group (like in their current situation).
EDIT:
Camping: Wilderness
Traveling: Wilderness (swamp)
Inn: not Wilderness

I'm still not clear on what your preference is right now, we have maybe another hour of light, we could press on while the light remains and then make camp for the night (camp option), stay at the village Inn (Inn Option) or travel through the night (stupid travel option). No one has (yet) expressed a preferance in favour of travelling through the night. the other choices are still open (although with three already in favour of the Inn that is likely to be the consensus).
Edit:
I was just trying to determine how much distance we would make in 1hr....
There is one snag, and We would probably have picked it up within the first few minutes of setting off: A rhino has the same movement rate as an unencombered person... 30' this reduces our speed from 5 miles an hour to 3 miles an hour, or from 40 miles a day (8hrs + breaks to rest the mounts) to just 24 miles a day.
a drop of 16 miles a day is significant, I wonder if we can convince Joan to ride (have been riding) a horse and save calling on her mount for battles, otherwise our rush to reach the girl will be delayed severely...
Teene stares in disbelief at Heilan. For a moment, it is believed that she might lash in anger, clenching her fists in frustration. Striking an air of discipline as befit her past, she relaxes and remains proper. In a restrained voice, Teene speaks concisely.
"Yes sir."
At which point, she motions her horse to walk towards the village.
Woah, what bit her butt?
4 people expressed a preference of staying at the Inn, thats democracy.
Discussing my preferences for room occupancy (In advance of even knowing what is available) is just pre planning.
do we really need to spend a week discussing each decision after we've already got a majority in favour of one course of action....
Although when i think about, democracy seems to be unusual in a very structured LG order. Special when one thinks of the high middle age as a monarchial era
Do you mean we need a leader? Who is the 'highest ranking member' of our party?
You are all technically equal. However, preference for leadership would fall first on Paladins, since that order is where the Lightbringer came from before being raised to Lightbringer, then clerics/priests, melee fighters, and finally arcanists.
I nominate Vassikyn, mainly because Joan (the other paladin) is being portrayed as a skilled novice rather than a veteran and Rado (the cleric) is portrayed as an absent minded intellectual (or thats the impression I got so far).

Actually, because Ivory is Joan's paladin mount, his speed is 40 feet, rather than 30 feet. It's still slower than the horses, but not as much. Granted, that's still ~8 miles per day by your calculations.

Well, its your mount and your choice, entirely up to you. There may come occasions where Heilan might become snarky about it, if so its only personal between Heilan and Joan, not between me and you.
That's interesting, when I wrote out Vassikyn's backstory, I didn't think that he would get nominated as leader of the party, he does have the experience for it though. Vassikyn could lead if that's what you guy's want.

Between the choices we have and the general order of things, Vassikyn would be on my list as #1 for leader of the party. That way we could speed things along and have someone make the executive decision that we won't definitely get angry at them later for.

Vassikyn indeed would've made the most sense as a leader whether elected by the Order or the party, being already a war veteran. IC-wise, Anoush would've preferred Vassikyn as well, since he recently concluded that both of them share a more flexible and compromising stance on things (vs strict authoritarianism and rigidity). His previous comment that agitated the latter was a bit of a sarcastic remark done (partly) to see the party's reaction towards such principles.
EDIT: I like the LotR reference, if that ever was the case.
Well, since the DM stated that the Order didn't appoint a leader, we'll have to RP electing one, and Vassikyn would not be looking for the lead, although he would accept the role.
On the whole Anoush commenting on Paladins, I figured that it was just to elicit a response, that was a fun speech to type up.

What, it's clearly not the Prancing Pony....and Cherrad is not a play on Cheddar (which like Bree is a cheese)...
I'm not sure if a DnD campaign works without an LotR reference at some point. I've never had it happen in ones that you could consider serious campaigns.

Yes, we'll work it in to the ic thread, just makes more sense to decide ooc first.
Fair enough. I'm trying to figure out if Vass would try and elect someone else or if he would just accept it. I'm thinking he'd stay out of nominating people, but would accept the role.
Also @The Dark Fiddler, as a flautist, I feel the necessity to point out that a flute player is not a flutist, but a flautist. Its one of the only instruments that you don't just add -ist to. Sorry, just really irks me when people say flutist.

My wife and a flautist at our wedding, it was very nice to have live music, she played very well.
Yeah, an 18 roll, 31 total, to make a party member feel better, is that team building or what?
I read the OOC before I read the IC and then laughed.
This is team building to the max.

yes, I overthought this one a bit.
Side note: brie cheese is named after the town of brie in france (where it was first made), likewise cheddar is named after the town in somerset where it was first made, this is true for many cheeses.

Now, see, I thought that as well, but Chrome doesn't seem to think that flautist is a word. I did what I normally do when something like that happens: look up what it really is, and why I thought it was the way I did. When I did, I happened upon this:
Quote:
The choice of "flautist" (from the Italian flautista, from flauto, and adopted due to eighteenth century Italian influence) versus "flutist" is a source of dispute among players of the instrument. "Flutist" is the earlier term in the English language, dating from at least 1603 (the earliest quote cited by the Oxford English Dictionary), while "flautist" is not recorded before 1860, when it was used by Nathaniel Hawthorne in The Marble Faun. While the print version of the OED does not indicate any regional preference for either form, the online Compact OED characterizes "flutist" as an American usage.
As such, I stand by my use of flutist, if only so I don't have the squiggly line of non-existence, since both are acceptable.
