"That's a bit beyond me." Victoria admits. Closing down portals was something more on her mother's power level. Maybe she could blow the mist away, though? The half fied stretches her wings and aims a few strong beats in the direction of the mist, hoping to alter its course.
Wings are flapped at the cloud! A few tendril-like wisps drift away from it, spilling across the floor. It looks like the cloud is moving. Though not very quickly.
And the thing is still growing.
Slowly. But growing.
"It isn't coming out of the portal," Sadei says, pointing up at the rift. "It was, but it isn't now."
Must be getting bigger for some other reason?
Hmm... wonder what that could be?
Oh! And Rein's stick may or may not have rotted away. Nasty stuff.

Reinholdt looks down at it. "Well it certainly seems to be eating. It's probably chewing through the floor as we speak and the floor will collapse from under us and deposit us in the basement no one knew Trog's had any second now."

MHF smells wrong. So very wrong. Like darkness errr... smellerized or something. Mild traces of human in there though.

Of course there was a basement, where would the tentacle monster hide? And it was about to have some nasty mist dropped on its head if the floor didn't hold out. "Well, it ate your stick and it tried to eat my foot." That really hadn't been the smartest plan. "Is it some kind of acid?" She wonders.
The floor of Trog's seems to be holding. Heaven knows the floor here has been hit with some crazy stuff before and has managed to make it through without collapsing on itself and dumping everyone on top of the Quiet Beast.

Which is probably a good thing.
"I don't think it's acid..." Sadei mutters. "Maybe it's just hungry?"
She decides that now would be a good time to toss a plate of brownies into the fog!
They vanish in a swirl of pink mist AND!
...nothing happens.
Apparently brownies aren't its only weakness.

Reinholdt tries throwing in a cup of water.
He never can remember which one you're supposed to add to the other to avoid catastrophe. But it's not acid, so it doesn't matter! Hopefully.

Victoria backs up a bit. She knows adding water to acid can be a bad idea. If that doesn't work, though, she'll order up a glass of milk and try the same trick. Maybe it would neutralize it.
The water takes a pretty sizable bite out of the cloud of fog! Just knocks a hole right through it. Though the hole is slowly filling in again. The milk is a bit less successful, vanishing into the haze and filling the tavern with the nauseating scent of soured yogurt.
Eeww...
Sadei's eyes widen a little!
"The water worked I think. I'll go borrow a bucket!"
Off she dashes behind the counter to fetch Cosmo's bucket!
Ha, now they know how to beat this thing!

Reinholdt pulls out a pair of decanters of endless water, offers one to Victoria, turns them both on regardless, and starts spraying water on the cloud. The magic item will never run out of water! Reinholdt found such things rather useful when far away from civilization and water was scarce. Unpleasant desert trips usually.

Victoria shakes her head. "No, it just knocked it aside... but the milk went sour. It ate the milk? Reacted somehow. Is it bacterial?" She wonders allowed, before tossing a Prestidigitation spell at the mist. Maybe that would clean it up?
The magic of Victoria's spell crackles and pops and generally makes a rather nice light show. But otherwise the cloud doesn't seem all that bothered.
HOWEVER!
It really seems to dislike all that water!

The cloud twists and writhes like a living thing trying to escape from the touch of flame, sending several tendrils of pink fog slithering toward Rein and seeking to lash around him!
A sizable portion of its mass has already been washed away by the water.
Sadei hurls her bucket at the fog! Take that!

Victoria shrugs. "Alright, water it is then." The half fiend hops up to take a seat on the bar top, keeping her out of the reach of the fog. She reaches backs and grabs one of those spray nozzels from behind the bar, the ones that shoot soda water for mixers and such, and sprays it at the mist, particularly the spot where that object fell.
I'm a sharp foist and file, of course. Ally leans back on her stool, slipping into thieves cant with proud braggadocio. I'm an expert crackswoman and second story girl, having done the odd job as a glazier, jumper, and darksman budge. And me name mi' as well be Kate, seeing how I'm such a rum dubber. You'll find no be'er gilt as can work a charm, screw, or betty with my fingers' skill. She winks flirtatiously at Lynette, completely unaware of Ashley's presence. I'm also an ole hand at the counterfeit crank game and ha'been contracted by jarkmen to do hard jobs, ones they couldn't themselves, see.
To translate into modern english, Ally claims to be an experienced pickpocket and burglar, as well as very skilled at opening locks, which she considers herself to be the best at. She also claims to be an excellent con artist and such a good forger that professional forgers turn to her do jobs they can't. I'm not sure Lynette knows thieves cant, but if she doesn't, Ally will let her know what she means.
Ally brushes off the deadtime and takes a look around the tavern to figure out what's going on with that cloud and who else is here.

Hose that thing down! As the fog is washed away soon a chunk of metal the size of a golf ball covered in several faceted pieces of rose quartz is revealed! And more of the fog seems to be seeping out of it!

"Throw that thing in the bucket!" Reinholdt says, spraying water to clear the way. He doesn't notice that he should have been screaming in pain. Yay for him.

Victoria grabs an ice bucket from behind the counter and fills it with soda water. "Keep spraying it!" she shouts to Reinholdt when she jumps down from the bar top and heads for the metallic/crystaline thing. "This is gonna hurt." She mutters to herself before trying to pick it up and dunk it in the water as quickly as she can.
As soon as she grabs the device it begins seeping pink fog all over her hand, doing its best to dissolve her flesh off in a rather horrific fashion. To make matters worse the whole cloud seems to implode upon itself, lashing inwards in an attempt to completely smother her before she can get the little metal ball into the bucket.
Should she manage to get the ball into the water there will come a rather distinct fizzling, popping sound and the malevolent will directing the fog will abruptly cease. The fog won't vanish, but it won't be trying to eat people either.
If the orb doesn't make it into the bucket...
Well...
Victoria might be in trouble in that case. Her heritage will help for sure. But still...

Reinholdt decides a better idea than to keep spraying it is to, in fact, spray Victoria. Give her a sort of water armor. Like putting a wet blanket over your head when dealing with fire. Hopefully it will help.

The half-fiend lets out a primal shirek when the fog rolls back to attack her. Fortunately, she'd brought the bucket very near to the fog spewing thing. Reinholdt dounsing her with water, while unexpected, was helping. Though, she regretted wearing a white shirt today. With another shout of effort, Victoria dunks the metal orb into the water. If it seems like it wants to jump out, she'll hold it there as long as she can.
The hurled black shadow asplodes in a flash of entropic magic, possibly peppering Victoria with little shards of glass and generally making this whole experience even more unpleasant.
The water she just got soaked with helps immensely. Seems the fog is having trouble touching her so long as she's dripping wet. As for the orb it doesn't look like it has any plans of reviving.
And the fog?
Looks like it is begging to dissolve. Without the orb creating more the stuff is getting wiped out by all the water in a hurry. Sadei tosses another bucket-full at it just to be safe.
A victory fanfare plays!

Sadei doesn't seem interested in it at all. Instead she's hurrying over to her cousin to make sure that she's alright. Or... at least alright aside from the whole 'being cold due to wetness' thing.
"Over by the fire. That should help you get warm, right?" Sadei suggests.
She glances close to make sure the cloud didn't melt any of Victoria's flesh off.
Because that would be terrible.

Rein didn't think the water was that cold, but combined with some acid pink flesh eating monster thing, and getting drenched, he imagines it very well would be quite cold.
"I'm so sorry." Reinholdt says, pulling out a heavy blanket to offer her and kind of lead the way to the fireplace.
The only other option Rein's got is his flamethrower and that's probably a bad one.

Ivaz will glare him down as the Crusader goes into his explanation of things.
At his question, she finishes her drink and sets the glass down hard.
And what if I wasn't, hm? What then? You gonna "take me in"? Huh? Gonna "make me see the error of my ways"?

You mention all these laws, but you seem to forget something. It is within the realm of possibility that I just don't care. About any of it. Especially justice. That's just a concept who's definition depends on who's in charge. Who's got the upper hand. Who's got the majority vote.
Ivaz will swing her feet from the table and stand up, still glaring at the Crusader. The laws are made by whoever's in charge. So's justice. All that stuff is just vague concepts that, when you really get down to it, don't matter in the grand scheme of things. That's all human stuff. Made up. Never existed before we did.
So, I'm just going with nature, in a way. Doing what the planet does in regards to your rules. Not caring.
Oh, and all those scenarios you just mentioned to...uh...whatever that thing is? Yeah, I usually wait till after I do those to get drunk. Can't enjoy them when I'm intoxicated. Ivaz gives a malicious grin and puts her hands on her hips, waiting for the Crusader's response.
As he listens to Ivaz's response, the Crusader's hands begi to clench into fists, and it is obvious that he is appalled by what he hears. Any attempt at politeness is gone in his rebuttal, which is spoken in a harsh, condesending tone:
"Except in the grand scheme of things, law and justice do matter you ignoramus, for they are the glue that hold society together. And these are not just concepts we 'made up' many of the laws are based off divine mandates from higher powers, whilst others are based off the innate sense of right and wrong we posses known as morality. We all come to know what is good and what is harmful to the group as a large, and thus seek to punish those whose actions harm others or society as a whole, because we know it is the right thing to do. Many also innately know when a law is unjust, one made only to serve the interests of a few and not the people as a whole, thus can deduce it is the correct path to not follow it. Yes the majority determines the rules, but that does not necessarily make them wrong, and if they are inherently wrong, then it is the moral duty to oppose such laws and seek to change them.
So you wish to ignore the laws, say you are better than to follow what you take to be made up concepts, and imply you are better off for it. Yet if we followed the rules of tooth and nail, it is doubtful that a pitiful creature such as yourself would even exist, having been eradicated by predators more fearsome than your lowly self could ever hope to achieve. Besides, I am certain that if you were wronged in some way, such as being robbed, you would crawl whining to the authorities, asking them to catch the one responsible.
I suggest you repent for your obvious wickedness, for though it may seem advantageous to you in this life, it is a destructive path that will likely leave you dead or worse. And I do not believe I even need to begin to explain what horrors await a hellbound heart such as yourself."

Furthermore, I cannot secularize this, for I am on a most holy mission, to downplay it would be nigh heretical. I realize what she attempts to do, and I do not intend to start a battle in here where innocents may be harmed, though should the vile creature attempt to do harm, I will act to save these souls from her wickedness."
Victoria accepts the blanket and allows herself to be led over to the fireplace. Her skin was red, especially around her hand. It looked like it hurt, but it would heal easily enough. "It's alright." She says to Reinholdt. It was either be cold and wet or be covered in burns.
