In this thread, you show off your own creations for admiration, critique, a probably some dozen other reasons.

Here's a link to the Previous Thread.

To start off the new thread, here are the two recent Gnomish creations.

I'm trying to learn to make my line weight a little more dynamic.

While it's mostly a case by case thing. An easy way to do this is to make the arm and the leg lines thicker than the body outlines. For example, in Flash, I'd use 3.0 line thickness for the body but 5.0 thick lines for the limbs.

It's not that I don't love you, it's just that the world and at least one ocean has decided it can never be.

Personally I still like your style more than my own. If you ever saw the process I undergo to draw anything, you'd run screaming into the night. The pure chaos hidden in any of my avatars under layers and layers of padding is maddening.

Oh, woe is me. I shall obtain the golden scale, the zora tunic AND the iron boots.

...
And maybe a laser or something. The monsters of the deep will continue to haunt me.

In any case:

I used to do that in Inkscape, but then I took a Tablet to the MSPaint.
I like your style. Those guys with incredible armor, awesome shading and colors.

And the body. I understand you like this slim style, but damn, that guy looks like he's thinner than his hands. And those are lines!

This one is either too long, or too thin. It doesn't do justice to Neku.

Also, the face is too cluttered. The eyes have too thick an outline.

It's funny cause the reference image makes him thinner then his hands

Some styles just don't transition perfectly into the Oots style. It's not that it's a bad avatar. It just doesn't work as well as it does in it's original art style is all.

You can try varying line weigh to make thing look like hey are closer or more distant.
Using pathes as lines works well too. (In my opinion at least)

Hello fine ladytarists and mentletars, I was on my way back to the ol' scape of dem inks, when I realized that I could use some advice from you folks.
So I have a tablet, and I don't really have much practice with it, plus I don't like the sensitivity it's on, does anyone here know how to change it?
And another thing is, this character I have in my head that I want to make is a Gith, some of a Gith's most prominent features is the head shape, how would you guys recommend I draw the head of a Gith while sticking to OoTS style?

To change the pressure sensitivity, it depends on the tablet, but one like mine (a Wacom Bamboo) usually has an installation process that puts some addresses in the home button, like "Configuration". In there, it's just a matter of playing with it until it does satisfy you.

As for the Gith, I can't find anything other than a normal humanoid (of course, excepting the nose and cheekbones). It's a normal humanoid, you could simply add the shape of cheekbones to the face, so it looks like it's really thin.
Other than that, I have nothing to suggest, unless we're talking a different thing I didn't find about.

I think the less circular the head, the farther away it begins to drift from OotS style. I agree, but to bring focus to the shape through details like cheekbones or even shading, but don't actually change the head shape.

It's just that it was easier to trace the original sketch I made in my notebook with SAI, than to re-do in Paint.

Started for this for desert week, changed it to include KK when I saw his avatar and then it ended up too big for using. Drat.

Edit: Resize in GIMP2 made it almost passable as an avatar.

The body has extreme length and flexibility. True, people can bend, but that one might be overbending.

The metal rivets on the leather armor look nice. The spiky whip (?) too. The bow might be occupying too much space, and is also placed in a weird spot, it should be directly in the back, and in there it looks like it's on the side. The mouth has a weird shape. The eyes are too bog, and too different sizes one from the other (the difference between the eyes is there, but it's not supposed to be too obvious)

The cape looks bad. Definitely. It needs to fall, not follow the body. Cloth will only follow the shape of the body when it's over it. The cape should bend with the body until there's no more body.

----
The eyes change colours because they're behind Link's hair.

Link is the herot from the series of game called 'Zelda'. you must probaly have heard from anme alone, else you cna alway google it.

As for the eyes showing from behing the slightly tranparent hairs, it's a stylistic choice that is sometime found in manga and animish inspired drawing, I think it's supposed to show the hair are very thin on the front or something like that.
(not a fan of it either, I have to say.)

As for you own avatar, he looks kind of .. noodly, even for a stick figure (character look very lanky with a feeling the limbs are kinda long), not nessecarily a bad thing though, just look different from usual OOts. (dod'nt know if it's menat as volontary choice)

He kinda look like a rockstar too. (Mick Jaeger was a drow, who knew )
