The plan is for the genin to make their knowledge checks, otherwise say they're ready to go, then we'll skip to meeting the other team assigned to guarding her, then have more character development/talking scenes, then skip to the next scene.
Well, let's look at the old skill list here... I took a rank each in survival and navigate, so I should be able to find my way to where we're going with a map, even if somehow our sensei is not trained in finding her way, which seems impossible. I'll probably take more ranks in navigate as we level up. Being a skill-point heavy character is a lot of fun, I think. In the meantime, uh, well the only knowledge skill I have that's of much use right now is ninja lore, so...
Ninja lore to see if I know much about... actually let's try a few specified topics. Hopefully they fit - knowledge of teh criminal if he's recent may fall under the current events or whatever other knowledge skill, and Amon found knowing much about the going on in the great big world out there yet not being allowed to go out and enjoy it too depressing, so she hasn't been likely to keep up with recent events unless they're pretty recent. That's my logic anyway.

As an aside, the grammar was a bit off - and I don't usually criticise or even notice such things since I'm prone to bad grammar IC far too often, but unfortunately this time it affected my undertstanding of events - so I'm not sure if Yusa of the Black Sand is the name of the kazekage or the name of the prisoner we're escorting.
I must say I'm pretty geared up for this mission. And a little stressed. I can't help the feeling my character isn't strong enough to survive seeing as how this is clearly a potentially very dangerous mission, but that's where my excited tension is largely coming from.

It may not be my place to say, but I tend to find games go a little quicker when the DM rolls knowledge and reactionary rolls for the players.
The game goes quickest when I roll every roll for you guys. But it's also a lot less fun.
It's the difference between "The DM tells you that you see..." and "Your spot check revealed..." In one statement, the DM is feeding you information, in the second, your proactive actions discovered something.
I, personally, find it much more fun when I roll to do something rather than have something rolled for me.

"A rebel for the Kazekage" [pause] "Yusa of the Black Sand" [pause] is intended to be ambiguous. The character is in a hurry, and talks appropriately. This would be a great question to ask in character after the results of your knowledge check.
I've decided to save that awkward moment for the road, as you can see IC now.
Engaging Yosuke's interests now. I could have done my optimisation a favour if I switched my charisma for my wisdom, but I like playing a sociable character from time to time.

I'm sure Yosuke will give in and let Amon be his friend sooner or later. Probably the first step of that is accepting he's stuck with her. Hey, if we're skipping past all teh travel time, BadSituation, want to do some spinoff roleplaying of a few conversations the group has while on the move? Amon is pretty loyal to her orders, but she's hardly one for 4 days of silent, forced march. She's pretty crafty too, she'll figure out someway into poor Yosuke's head, accepting his greatest rejection as nothing but a challenge. We cna at least assume he's no longer as disgusted by her presence after a few days, right?

Ah, right, I misunderstood you then. In that case we'll have plenty of time to get some character interaction going. Just need zeone to post saying he's good to go, right? It sure is lucky I overstocked the crap out of Amon's bag, otherwise there wouldn't be nearly so much good equipment. You melee types, always just buying a fancy sword and lazily picking out some peripheral equipment and calling it a day - you're never quite prepared for these situations when the better part of a week of travelling is necessitated.
How do I calculate my learn checks bonuses?

Ah, good, straightforward enough maths. I'm not sure why it isn't a simply skill check,but what do I know? My One Piece d20 designs never got off the ground.
Hey, Zeone's on. Just as I was about to be productive outside the game, it seems duty may well be calling. You said your character was quiet, so Amon asked him if he likes to chat more than Yosuke apparently does. I can't remember if that qualifies as ironic or not
Being the oldest Genin on the team is kind of fun. It means there's an explanation for my level being on the upper end of Genin beyond being some sort of genius ninja or conevience, and an aplanation of how I know so many moves.

Technically, Yousuke has more jutsu than Amon, but most of them are focused in Taijutsu and he only has a single offensive ninjutsu to his name. I made him when I didn't really understand the Nd20 system very well so he's not really optimized for what he's supposed to be good at.
Yeah I thought that. I mean, you took ninjutsu adept and stealthy when some melee feats would have probably served you better. I don't have that many offensive techniques either, to be fair. Just a couple of Raiton abilities. Most of my techniques are based around deception and require good planning to use effectively. Give me a few minute's notice with this ragtag group of genin and we'll figure out someway to take down a jounin if need be.

Well, I have plans for Yousuke to go down the Sword Savant class which requires both Taijutsu and Ninjutsu Adept. I wanted a quick and skilled warrior who throws around ninjutsu but unfortunately I hadn't realized that Taijutsu was keyed off of Strength and that with 13 Con I wouldn't really be able to throw out jutsu as much as I'd like.

I have a better idea of how I could have built Yousuke now but I guess it's a little too late for that. Still, it isn't as if he's going to be useless in a fight so there's still that.
Mechanically: There's no real need for optimization, as the game is flexible enough to work at any level of optimization. And I'd only put you guys against something you can't beat when I'm having a bad day.
So really: Don't worry about it.

Ah, Zeone's back again. I'm anxious to hit the road with my new best chums that i just met. I have 4 days to try and break Yosuke's apparent gynophobia. *cracks knuckles* Let's do this. I guess at age 12, he's too young to know how to treat a lady, though Amon lacks any sense of awkwardness about the human body. She IS a doctor, after all (scarily)
