Alright, it's time to arrange the next meetup. 1st of December, Leicester.

The previous meetups:

1 - The one that started it all!
2 - Brumland, I believe.
3 - Brumland again?
4 - Reading/Basingstoke. Totally didn't happen no matter what Archie says.
5 - Peterborough.
6 - Didn't miss this one out, honest!
7 - The Archon triumphed over the Hippie in London.
8 - Sheffield! So much snow. o.o
9 - The first playing of Kubb! In Peterborough again.
10 - BRADFORD WILL BE EXTERMINATED!
11 - Newcastle was over-run with hats and Hate-Boar.

Also, mini-meets can always happen in the meantime.

FOR THOSE STAYING OVERNIGHT
Accommodation wise, the recommendation is the Premier Inn, which is pretty much next to the train station (and easy to spot - it's the big blue building with red, orange, and yellow rectangles all over it), and about 15 minutes walk from the university. Apparently a room for 2 nights for 2 adults is £66 currently.
Cassie will investigate the possibility of floorspace, but it's unlikely.

FOODS
Dominos, Morrisons, Sainsburys, and Subway are in walking distance from the Uni. On the campus itself there's the Library Cafe, and Delicious might be open for a bit of the day. If you're coming in on the train, on the way to the Uni from the Train Station there's a Tesco and various take away places.

Also, you can make requests/suggestions, though there's no guarantee they will be done.

SUGGESTED PLANS
Friday evening: Some people arrive. Gaming happens in the evening.
Saturday 9am: Gaming at Ken Edwards, rooms 526, 527, 528.
Saturday 10pm: Trip to the Old Horse, the local pub, for drinks and chatting.
Sunday wee hours: Werewolf at undecided location.
Sunday morning: Farewells to the brave few who remained.

Huzzah, a shiny new thread!

I was thinking of heading back up to Newcastle at the end of August, if anyone is interested in a mini-meet over the bank holiday.

If there are plans for a meet-up elsewhere, depending on what Serpy plans to do, that'd also be cool.

I believe the proposed locations for the next meetup are:

I propose that we move the date of the meetup back to it's 'normal' date in early December sometime. In Glasgow

In the mean time, if people want to see me, I'm doing a marathon board gaming session this week (starting tomorrow, which will be streaming live over the intermawebz (if all the technology goes as planned). See this thread for more information.

I can get round to setting things up in Leicester once I've returned to uni in September, and once my ordeal of trying to work out whether I'm going to pass my resit and continue with maths or switch to starting again on a different course. So mid-end of September I should be in a position to sort it out. The date would be early December, so that I'm not booking it or sorting out booking over my January exams. I'll likely be getting rooms at Leicester uni that I think I can get booked for 9am to 9/10pm. Might be 9am to 7pm. Either way, plan would be gaming on Saturday at the uni, quite possibly with a few of my gaming society coming along as well, followed by me dragging you all along to a nice pub nearby. Accomodation would have to be sorted by you lot with Travelodges or the such like. Food-wise, on the day at Uni there's catering facilities open around lunchtime, and Sainsburys, Morrisons and Dominos within walking distance.

This if I can book the rooms. I'll have a better idea September. Just brainstorming a few details.

Aww, no, we'll be in Alnwick for those bank holidays... but if you have plans for meet in another we, we'll try to be there.

Unfortunately, while I will still be in the Playground, I will no longer be in the UK, so can't make the next meet up. Unless you want to all come out to China?

Just to add my quiet noob vote - Glasgow's a long way away, Leicester isn't so much, and therefore I'd be more likely to show to the latter.

London's really doable for me, but if I'm making noises against Glasgow, I'd feel a bit hypocritical tell Weedgies to come all the way down here.

Yes, Londonderry could be a wonderful place for a meetup... Might be a bit tricky for most people to get to though...

I'm perfectly okay with Leicester, and so long as I have the time to get to a meetup in the first place, I can't really see Glasgow being a problem.

I'm just waiting for a Troglander to pop in and say that five hundred miles is nothing at all, and then mention how they travelled over a thousand miles to get to a meetup.

For what it's worth, I choose Leicester too.
And this is uncanny, I mean, we've pretty much actually chosen a destination, and have someone in the area whose moderately certain she can book a venue.
We've not even been planning for a week yet!

I just realised that I might not be able to make it to the winter meet this year.

I'm planning on going home to Sweden for the Christmas holidays, and because the way things worked out for my summer holidays, I had to take a few extra days off then, and i seem to have run out of holidays to take, and I don't fancy driving down to Leicester after work on the Friday night or having to leave at stupid-o'clock in the morning on the Saturday to get there for the meetup (6+ hour drive at the best of conditions).

Will try to work something out, but it looks as if i will need to sit this one out.

I won't be able to do the weekend of the 13th/14th October as, if my evil plans come to fruition, I shall be in Balitmore. Any other weekend aside from that should be ok.
