[Nexus Alt-Plot] Nothing and Nightmares {Beans & C'nor}

[C'nor]

Talina smiles somewhat, and goes to open the door and step inside, closing it behind herself.

[Beans]

The woman is clearly undead---corpse-grey, with slightly glowing eyes---and wears hole-kneed jeans, a faded grey tank top, and beat-up sneakers.
Her hair, fiery red, is made more vibrant in comparison to her paleness.
Are you... the healer woman?

[C'nor]

Talina nods, smiling at her reassuringly.

"I am. You're 'the pale doctor', right?"

[Beans]

I guess that's what they'd remember me as...
How're they doing? I heard about what you did...

[C'nor]

"They're doing pretty well. A few issues, but nothing that hasn't been handled right now, for the most part. I think that they'd like to see you, though, so you could probably ask yourself..."

[Beans]

She frowns.
Yeah, right. As if I could actually face them again...

[C'nor]

Talina frowns as well.

"What do you mean?"

[Beans]

All I did was patch them up. They were still stuck in that hellhole and I did nothing about it.
She sighs.

[C'nor]

"And neither did I, for a while. I'm sure both of us had our reasons, even if we regret it now."

[Beans]

Yes, and mine is a little thing called cowardice, ever heard of it?
She frowns.

[C'nor]

"Yes. Though I'm not sure it applies in this case... Why don't you explain a little more fully?"

[Beans]

She stares incredulously.
... You want me to spell this out for you?
I was too much of a worm to do anything about their situation. I could have helped and I didn't.
End of story.

[C'nor]

"Not what I meant. I meant why you didn't help; what you were scared of."

[Beans]

You don't know what they're like, the people who run these things.
They don't have consciences or morals or anything like that. It's a miracle that you haven't been targeted yet after what you did.

[C'nor]

Talina nods.

"I can see why that would be a valid reason for you to be scared. And honestly? Probably the reason I haven't been targeted yet is that, to the best of my knowledge, I killed all of them."

[Beans]

Vo grimaces.
You are so naive.
You didn't kill the monster or even cut off one of its heads, you killed the monster's fleas.
I think you should leave now.
And tell the girls I'm sorry.

[C'nor]

"Then I'll finish it when they come after me. And I'll tell them, but if you want them to believe it? Do it yourself. None of us think you're a coward for not getting them out, but I do for not being willing to come apologize in person."

With that, Talina stands, and goes to leave.

[Beans]

The door is closed loudly behind her as she leaves.
There's a sound of something soft being thrown against a wall.

[C'nor]

Talina sighs, frowning, but she rather doubts that trying to help would do anything, and so, instead, simply goes to return home.

[Beans]

The girls wave as she comes in!

[C'nor]

Talina seems a bit unhappy, but waves in return when she enters.

[Beans]

"Aw, what's up?" Sherry blinks at le frowny.

[C'nor]

Talina sighs, flopping onto a couch.

"You know how I went to find the doctor who was seeing you before I came along? It didn't go so well."

[Beans]

"Aww, really?"
She puts an arm around her.

[C'nor]

Talina nods, snuggling up to her.

"Yeah..."

She explains the whole mess to her.

[Beans]

"Aw, that's terrible for both of you..."

[C'nor]

The healer nods again, burrowing into Sherry's arms, and pressing her face into the other woman's shoulder.

[Beans]

Sherry rubs her back.
"C'mon, it'll be fine now..."

[C'nor]

Talina sighs, holding her tightly.

"I guess... I wish there was something I could do for her, though."

[Beans]

"We'll think of something, I'm sure..."
